With all of KTM's financial troubles and a reported 400k unsold bikes in the 2024/25 model year, why are they in short supply and seemingly with limited incentives? It would be logical to assume that if there is too much supply and they would need to offer strong incentives to clear out inventory. Where are these 400k bikes, are they still stuck in Austria due to the ongoing challenges?

From what I have read… Lots of those bikes are small displacement street bikes that sell in foreign countries. Most are not legal in said countries, since the new EU laws went into effect.
I don’t believe that there is a huge supply of the KTM 300’s or 350’s, or other popular models, But I could be wrong.
Regardless, you’d think they’d want to move the bikes that are already here and so far the BIG SALE hasn’t started up again yet. Then again, I’m not sure how tied in the US dealers are to the KTM financial situation.
Are the bikes at dealers already paid for by the dealer/importer?
Yes, only in the US.
Manufacture rebates are the only thing that can bring down the prices.
Dealers only have so much margin on them.
Maybe the 400k of bikes are not dirt bikes???

In Australia all the bikes are paid up for by the dealers at the moment.
The importer is basically KTM AG in Austria.
Factory to dealer incentives (the primary vehicle an OEM has at their disposal to lower the price of existing dealer inventory) are paid to the dealer after the bike is retailed. The manufacturer was paid for the bike (by the dealer) when it was originally invoiced. If the OEM is broke, they likely don’t have the cash laying around to pay big FDIs to the dealers. They ceased production for a time this winter. This means nothing was invoicing, so no money has been coming in for quite a while now.
They didn't build bikes from November to March and rumor is there will not be a lot of 2026 bikes available. Dealers are probably not willing to give bikes away if they don't know when they will be resupplied. If you see dealers sitting on 2023/24 then they misjudged the market and should have blown those bikes out months ago.
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new bike..local dealer has decent pricing on a ‘24 GasGas 450, but I am hesitant to buy because I am certain the day after the GasGas line will be cancelled. Also a bit hesitant to buy a KTM- in general I think they survive but chances are they don’t…
For the most part the best route is really to buy a Yamaha or Honda at this point....You can’t give away a used KX..same with Suzuki.
Gas Gas has terrible resale, take that in consideration when figuring getting a good purchase price
But…if you pay two grand less for the bike to begin with, it makes sense that the resale value would be lower. Fact is, I don’t care what brand it is. Resale value on any toys is in the shitter at the moment. That includes motorcycles, bicycles, RVs, boats, etc. Higher interest rates and inflation are likely the primary reason.
If you could find a leftover 24 factory edition I would most certainly pull the trigger. I’m curious as to why people are worried if they would decide to nix GG? Parts will still be available.

Just because they only paid back 30% of what they owed last time, the suppliers are hesitant to extend credit again? The nerve of some people…
Yes, I agree with that. But it’s just hard to sell them. Many people don’t even know what they are or think they are something you buy at your local auto zone…
Unless it’s the last carbed 125, those sell…
That's what we did, although it was a few months ago. 24.5 GG FE 250 at $9k OTD which was a screaming deal IMHO given the spec and performance the FE delivers.
Resale? RESALE??? LOL it's a toy. The only bikes I ever make $$$$ on are some of the Yamana RD 2 stroke street bikes I restore, and on them my labor rate came out to about $1 an hour.
I've never made $$$ on a race bike, nor even come close to breaking even.
Yessir we got two 250 FE’s for this season. Theyre a great bike and I had intended on selling one after this LL attempt is over but may just hang onto both!
All we did to ours was move the WP 6500 kit over from the 22. There is no reason he cannot win on this bike. It's as fast and capable as anything else on the track in C Limited.

I picked up two 24's with a little rebate. They will last me a few years, very happy about it! Just buy a bike if you want one and enjoy. Who knows the future about anything let alone KTM
Both dealers are 5 min apart. KTM,gg and husky and the jap bikes. I don’t see how anyone can pay thousands more than even a Honda or a Yamaha and twice as much as a Kawi or zook and that’s without the financial trouble.

Local dealer has 3, 2024.5 GG 250f FEs listed at $9488. The stocker 25 250f is $9048.
I’ve seen the MIC numbers for the first quarter of the year. No one is buying them.
I stopped by a KTM dealership this week to see if they had any deals going. They had a 2025 350 XC-F that a customer purchased and traded right back in so it only had 1.5 hours on it. They quoted me full retail and fees minus the freight charge since it was not technically new. Their showroom was full and they would not budge on their prices. MSRP +++ on everything unless it was a model that had a $500 rebate.
