Kid’s only 17yo. Amazingly fast, and smooth. Deegan is still ahead with 17pts two rounds to go. Deegan will probably take it, but Davies Wow 👍

When does Deegs turn on Davies and make him the villain?

Probably not going to happen unless they get put on the same coast in SX next year, which I don’t think will happen barring an injury. If Cole comes out and is competing for wins in outdoors though, I would expect Haiden to immediately try his normal behavior with him.

He already has.    Deeg turned the second he was straight upbeat by him.  Davies is calm, and collected, and reminds me of a young Reed.   And indoors, he had better get used to it, because it won't happen every time, but Davies is better INDOORS.  Have no idea outdoors yet, but probably gonna be a thorn in Deegs side for quite a spell....  He IS the real deal.  Just going to watch some fun the next few years between these 2, or however many Deegs gets pissed at over the years because they took care of business better than he.

How is he better indoors? Deegan has a commanding points lead and Davies doesn't have a chance down 17 points with 2 races left. Deegan would be racing him totally different if Davies wasn't so far back in points.

I'm sure Deegan will be much faster outdoors just on brute strength.   He's physically strong.   Davies is more naturally gifted, so if he takes outdoors just as serious in the next couple years he could have the upper hand.  He reminds me of McGrath when Jeremy was about 19 years old.

Passed all the top guys and checked out and then managed it. Dominant. In a showdown race too. Just keeps getting better and better.

Good chance it is gonna happen.....     Meaning, baby Jesus could be proven to be beatable outdoors on a steady basis....  As for panic?  That started awhile back when a rookie, assuming with much smaller funding,  far smaller contract .  strolled into Star and proved to Bobby he could whip Deegs ass, and not be rattled by his following.  That says a ton......

He passed the two championship leaders and last year’s champion with relative ease and checked out. All with incredible style. I’m rooting for him.

Not sure why every thread has to morph into something about Deegan?
But if you want to go there: Davies has been night and day more impressive than Deegan was in his SX rookie year. That’s fact and can’t be argued against.
As for head to head currently, I’d say Davies is showing more skill than Deegan, but as to who’s better? That’s subjective and there’s no right or wrong opinion.

Congrats Cole, looking forward to seeing how this all progresses.

I love an underdog and a 17 year old rookie riding at this level against this competition is insane in the training facility era of our sport.

Do you realize Cole has the potential to follow in Jett's footsteps?

Tonight felt like one of those crazy rides beast-mode Tomac or Stew would put on where you knew there was no way they'd be denied the win.

lol there’s only 3 years between them? Coles been in Nz grinding. Jett is not responsible for Cole’s success.

Could he be the best rookie in like 15 years? I cant think of anybody that has done better as a rookie. Have to go all the way back to dungey, canard, pourcel

Hmmm if I was HRC I would be gunning for Davies in their 250 Programme but somehow I doubt that will happen

I just watched an interview with BT discussing Cole. He referred to Cole and Jett's style as the 'new style' and said that he'd taught Cole the fundamentals of that style. Whether BT was developing those fundamentals before witnessing Jett ride or whether after, or a bit of both, he didn't elaborate.

I think you're all forgetting what a an absolute unit Haiden is outdoors. But, to be fair, it's easy to do because the freshest memory in our head is sx. Haiden is solid  in sx, he's going to win the title, but he's just not the clear standout of the class. Haiden will remind everyone come Pala who the big dog is.

Is it Old mate that worked with him and Jett?

At this point I wouldn’t consider Cole an underdog, he’s the real deal and a threat to the field. Best part is, he hasn’t even realized that yet.

How could you forget? He reminds us all of the time. JK JK Old Mate! I'm would be proud if two of my students were at the top of their fields, too

I get that impression from him, too. He looks so rock solid coming through the pack and working from the front. He's got those nerves of steel. The first triple crown of the year, he had Haiden on his rear wheel a couple of the mains and he was unflappable.

The best part of this Davies story is that it sounds like he came up through amateurs without all the financial support like Deegan and a lot of amateurs kids have. He and his family earned everything they’ve gotten the hard way. Love the underdog coming through and living the dream.

Don't thing they will play it up so much. Donut Inc. already cashed on that angle.

Deegan seemed to nearly crash several times in the Main.

Davies didn’t.
