Watched the highlights on youtube and I swear there couldn't have been more than 100 spectators in attendance. That might even be generous.

Cripes that all looked like hard work!

Everts so smooth, so precise - so clean.......

Those last few laps with Langenfelder trying to get Adamo, then both almost catching de Wulf napping, was good. I thought for a split second Kay might get stopped on the face of the finish line jump when things went sideways, and then Langenfelder  pinned it for a last gasp pass, that would(?) have got him 3rd OA, but Adamo seemed to bobble, and and  SL 'booped' into Adamos' rear wheel and went down.

So Zanchi got his 1st podium, I think. Good on him!

There'll be people here moaning about the Mud - It's Motocross, Folks.

I appreciate the skills of riders in  staying  upright ( and getting back up again after a trip to mudville ) , picking better, and, sometimes worse,  and ever changing lines, and still going quicker than many here could ever be. MX is Not always clean and dry.

Back in the day when I was 'faster"  - when it started to rain I always made it a point to find my friends and competitors and greet them with a big smile and say, gotta love the rain and mud🤣😁😉

Same.
I’ve been bragging about MXGP being amazing quality streams for years. Not this year!
I have yet to watch a full Moto, about 50% through, they just glitch out.
 Not impressed.

I got through first motos all good then mx2 moto 2 glitched with about 4 min to go then Mxgp moto 2 never loaded. I’ve been using mxgp-tv for years so here’s to hoping they get this resolved. This has never happened in my 5+ years of experience.

I had no issues this weekend with the streaming.

Not that you missed a lot though. Track was bad (even though we had a lot of rain), no spectators at all and a limited MX2 field really made it difficult for me to enjoy it.

Some GP rounds really make the series look like shit and this was one of those rounds.

Yes really sad that mx2 class yesterday.......is also because some riders stay in emx 250 for far to long ...take ivano van erp in 2023 he already won in emx 250 also in 2024 and now he still riding in that class...........van erp would also learn a lot more in mx2 just look at Jens walvoort how much he learned in a year mx2 and he wasn't really a a winner in emx250 ...if you are really talented then one year of emx is enough.......

An Everts and a Bervoets on the podium, that brings back memories.

The track was shite. Ofcourse they can't control the weather, but if it would've been dry, it would've been another onelined, superfast, rocky snoozefest aswell. Slopes or not. Knowing there are so many beautiful tracks in Spain (Talavera, Bellpuig, even RedSand,...). I hope this was the last time they went to the likes of Cózar and the already cancelled Arroyomolinos.

What's your feeling about the Finnish GP being at Litti-KymiRing - what I assume will be a 'pop up' track , though I hope not - instead of it being at an existing  track that has had GPs previously?

It's also scheduled to have EMX rounds -  EMX250 inevitably reduces MX2 entries, plus, the Northerliness of the event has always been regarded as a problem for Entries (as it has seemed to be for Scandinavian rounds in general) , over many decades. Then, of course / unfortunately, being later in the year, there'll be the inevitable rider attrition.

Weather is always a problem for event spectator attendance, and bad weather can deliver lesser 'spectacularness' ( yup, not a recognized word, I know) that then people whinge about. How's the weather, generally, in Finland that time of year?  To me, it's Motocross - Rain or Shine, and I watch and enjoy it no matter what the weather turns out to be.

Correct.. difference is that Walvoort has/had quite some financial backing to make that leap for his first year. Van Erp is backed by Yamaha Europe and they decide where they place their riders

100% agree with Motofinne.

Finland probably will be the same as round #2. There is an interview with VHR/VRT team manager, quite eye opening. The round is more expensive then a race in Indonesia

The weather in July should be best possible weather we have available all year around because it's our warmest month of the year but there is always a change of rain but it shouldn't be a problem because the ground is sandy.

I'm afraid that the track will just an another "pop up track" in the middle of asphalt circuit. The track is already partly built because they were planning to have MXGP race there already back in 2022 but the race venue was changed to different location due to track owners financial difficulties.

Is Bervoets related to Marnicq Bervoets?

It's great to see a real influx of young Belgians that are doing so well in GPs these days, and, that if they keep at it, they should be around for many years to come.   With, I hope, a Lot of success in the years ahead.

It's quite a renaissance, though, your people have always been a Big part of the Motocross World.

It was also great to see the 2 Fantic riders up on the overall podium, with another one just off it!. Louis Vosters looked to be a very happy man!

Something I remember from decades ago, - 1989-  was seeing video on our SBS TV station ( who, besides Soccer and Sex -  with reference to how they showed so many European Movies that were Not shy of Sex - covered Leisk's  foray in to the GPs) of Jeff Leisk getting completely flat / whipped out on a Huge Mid Corner / Into Deep 'Bomb Hole' Jump, (as the Poms would call such a drop in those by gone years)  at the Finnish GP.

The commentators were having Kittens over his 'style'. For the life of me, I can't recall the tracks name, but it was a famous one.

To have something other than Cricket , Tennis, Footy etc on a National Broadcaster was pretty bloody special  then - though, Mr Motocross in earlier decades had got a fair amount of coverage.

I'm really concerned  about our GP here in (bloody) Darwin being a success -  I really have my doubts. I've got tickets, I'm about to decide on a Hotel stay, or, the renting of an RV to stay a week or so, to get down to Yarralyn to visit an old mate of mine. I think that second point may get me to buy the 'plane tickets, and get the RV rented as, if the event is cancelled, I'm there for something else. Though, where he and his wife are, apparently has a Lot of 'Crocagators' in the waters there, and I'm sure they'll have me on the menu  😱

Jarne is Marnicq's son.

A lot of offspring nowadays. Everts and Bervoets like mentioned, Levi Townley in EMX125 (Ben's son), Paolo Maschio in EMX250 (Mickaël's nephew), Pelle Gundersen in EMX250 (Kenneth's son), Seth Priem in EMX125 (Manuel's son). And a bunch of young Leok's (sons of Tanel and Aigar).

The track was Called Ruskeasanta (Brown Sand in English) which was proper old school GP track. Sadly that track area was claimed by Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in the mid nineties. They replaced that track with with smaller one on the other side of the airport and what I've heard the current track is now in trouble because land developers are interested in that area too and land lease contract of that area is ending.

Mattia Guadagnini's gesticulating / questioning the officials as to where the timing line was at the end of the 2nd Moto was a hoot.

Him wanting to know if it had recorded him getting to the finish -  Malin took his gestures to mean he had no clutch left, hence him being stuck on the face of the jump.

Luckily for him, it was about a foot or two just below where he'd come to a stop.

And a guy on a TM finished 9th in MX2... not bad. Shows the bike is reliable for sure.

Only the factory/full time guys will be in Finland in MXGP and MX2 with a couple of scandinavian and baltic riders. As for EMX there was an article this weekend on gatedrop where 5 or 6 emx teammanagers were interviewed and almost all said they did not want the round because it added so much costs to a budget that was allready planned for to do less races. It said they were planning to have a meeting with Infront on this.

Not that you missed a lot though. Track was bad (even though we had a lot of rain), no spectators at all and a limited MX2 field really made it difficult for me to enjoy it.

Walvoort has done a great job with the chance he had. But yes, his funding is a big part of why he could get the opportunity in MX2.

What i dont really understand is why a lot of (semi)privateers prefer to do a bunch of emx rounds over doing the same amout of races but then just do it in MX2.

Walvoort has done a great job with the chance he had. But yes, his funding is a big part of why he could get the opportunity in MX2.

What i dont really understand is why a lot of (semi)privateers prefer to do a bunch of emx rounds over doing the same amout of races but then just do it in MX2.

He established himself as a regular top 15 rider, with more and more appearances into the top 10. Amazing growth. In EMX250 he showed some flashes of speed, but his starts hurt him a lot. He also had a massive leg injury (broke both of his legs) in his rookie EMX250 season. It's a great example of riders making bigger steps in MX2 then staying in EMX250. I think that most (semi)privateers hope to make some exceptional results to get into an EMX250 team. The GP regulars are mostly proven EMX250 riders, with top 3's in the championship. The other ones are riders that pay for their spot.
