Hello all,
We have some new features for the forum and users that went live today.
1. Any post/comment with a large amount downvotes will be hidden with option to show (threshold can be adjusted, but it's high enough there has to be a decent issue for it to collapse)
2. It is now possible to block user posts, replies, and comments.
How to block a user? - Roll over their avatar on the left and you'll see a "block" option. If you block someone, their comments/posts will be hidden with an option to show the comment. If you want to unblock them, just rollover avatar and unblock.
As of now, if you have email notifications turned on, you'll still receive something from a blocked user, but you don't have to open that email. We're sorting those details in the near future.
Nice options added. Thank you for the info and investment into the forum.
Boy that sure felt good to use the block function. Adios MF!
If you block me it means I'm right and I won. Those are the rules, loser!
And it begins…

How about just eliminating the Jr. High School popularity contest and getting rid of the thumbs up and down dumpster fire?
That was a good one. Well played! Lol
Also i will not be blocking anyone i feel like that alone will be interesting seeing multilayered conversations.
You started it 🤣
Just having some fun with all of this, ML!
Hahaha
How much of the MXGP bits budget was sacrificed in order for something 'majorly unliked' to be masked?
Which effectively means your interest will be peaked to click on, then review a downvoted post.. 🤔
On the plus side, I'm blocking anyone who disagrees with my view point. 👍

IT/development budget and content budget have no overlap/bearing on one another.
what are we in elementary school … too many down votes/ hurt feelings and your comment gets taken away and you are put into time out and your juice is taken away? My god, I used to love this place… I would post on here during the race threads from my tent in AFG on my deployments 2009 and 2011 and it was so rad, seriously michael that’s what’s happening here? wow 🤦♂️
Blocking feature is good in the current situation. But somehow i feel like more sensible moderation would've been enough so that a block addition wouldn't have been necessary.
GuyB took it obviously too far, but now i think we have swung too much in the other way.
I personally like the thumbs up and thumbs down. It’s a fantastic way to remind me I’m an idiot sometimes and maybe my opinion isn’t as popular as I think it is.
I am all for a block feature for the crybabies that get their panties in a bunch. Now if you get rid for the chickenshit anonymous down vote so the downvote clowns will be exposed and held accountable you will be swinging.
Blocking forum posts from behind a curtain is weak and so is letting the forum posts be controlled by an undisclosed mob.
Holy shit is this great so we can block the 3 people that make this place terrible.
Wish we could see how many people have blocked users and just have their account locked after a certain global threshold
@ML512, the block feature has a bug, I didn't block @mxaddict!
Lol, It said I blocked myself too.
Pit Row
So seems that people who were likely blocked by someone are showing up as blocked by others as well? Or maybe everyone? Or maybe these are people ML blocked lol....
I'm not going to block anyone. Interesting back and forth and a bit of good natured piss taking is all part of the fun. Add to that I want to see what other people have got to say.
I wouldn't even block GooFan (seen here at one of his arraignment hearings)
Agreed about moderation.
In the current situation, it's a win-win situation: trolls are still free to shout in the void, the rest gets more interesting threads.
If you’re taking requests it’d be cool to have a multi quote function instead of having a new post to every reply.
I don't see the point of being on a forum to block people...
The whole world is suffering from wanting interaction only with people who think the same as you do.
Not sure how many people would block others for disagreeing?
However I can see how blocking a few who are not able to carry a respectful exchange could improve the quality of the discussions for many.
Or more simply how not having to parse through trollish down-voted comments would improve the readability of a thread.
Trolls are the equivalent of the annoying drunk guy at the table next to you, shouting nonsense in your face while you're having a nice chat with your friends. In real life there are various ways to put an end to this interaction and carry on your conversation. Now there is one solution on this forum as well.
Not planning to use the block feature but if some folks can't stand my opinions, good on them for blocking me and improving their own experience.
Feature #1 is what's known as tyranny of the majority. just because there is a majority against a post does mean the post is incorrect or lacks merit.
As stated above, all this does is create an echo chamber for like minded individuals. the forum could become dominated by 909 flat-billers or even worse, wheely-boys.
How soft 😑
So do the upvotes offset the downvotes, with the combined “score” determining whether a post gets hidden or not, like Reddit? If not, you run the risk of polarizing (but otherwise entertaining) topics being hidden when they shouldn’t be.
Why don’t we get notifications of down votes? They are anonymous as far as I can tell. The last thing the internet needs is more anonymity.
Note: The whole vote thing is silly, but if there, put the who in it.
I thought you guys didn't like block passes.
