That certainly could be the case. I respect Ricky's incredible racing career and he was one of my favorite people to watch ride, bar none. But, he's just not very good at this announcing & TV gig. That's not even his fault necessarily, a lot of people aren't good at a lot of shit (me included).
He was the best to ever race in this sport, but I don't understand why he even wants to do this after going for several years and still not being that good at it. If I suck at something and dont see major improvement I usually give it up and try something else. Surely there could be something else he could do that suited him better, unless he truly loves the sport that much? Then again, if he loved it that much you'd think he'd have a little more respect for a guy like Daniel that is truly passionate to the core about it. Maybe Monster is making it close to impossible for him to bail on it with his name recognition etc. Just hard to imagine it's that fun for him getting bashed year after year and (probably) realizing he's just not gifted in this genre.
all the higher up sure loved to criticize DB......how about they focus all that energy on Will shes terrible and keep booking her for these things for god knows why.....

Holy crap I had not seen that before.....and all because the fans liked him in Oakland. The level of narcissist ego from RC there is undeniable......and still managed to screw up the words. I had lost a lot of respect for RC for continuing in this job when he is so bad at it, and now it's all gone.
The funniest part about that is DB filling in the gaps for RC.

Any long time Main Event Moto listener would know that Daniel's ultimate goal was to make it to the bigs of NFL broadcast commentating. Ergo, Daniel has already weighed the pros and cons of coming clean and releasing his video explanation of events.
I was the Officer In Charge/ Cadre of the UNLV Army ROTC and our flag detail presented the colors for AX finals here in Vegas… would have been 2017 I believe during his “Road to SX” nonsense. We went early to do the walk through at the Orleans Casino and ensure the detail knew the layout and practice on the dirt/ Track. I mentioned to our POC that i was a MX guy and still rode regularly, he asked if I wanted to meet RC, I said sure if he isn’t busy and was excited to meet one of the sport’s greatest riders. Now remember I’m in my full dress blues and there were no other fans there waiting for his autograph and for some reason he was very short and condescending to me, saying something like “I hear you know who I am!” and I said yes it’s a pleasure to meet you! I started to explain my background in riding and say I was a fan of his and his career ….He just sort of blew me off seeming like he was bothered by me and just signed a RCH autograph card for me and walked away saying something like “here you go man!” or “here you go bud!” and to say I was pretty disappointed would be an understatement, This thing with DB made me remember that interaction with him and so I’m not really surprised by any of this.

Seems like RC hitched his wagon to Diffey and Diffey stroked RC's ego so they had each other's back.
It's not clear to me if the unnamed person is Bondo or someone else but wouldn't think it would be hard to figure out who it is for anyone in the know.
It's always been crazy to me that NBC considers Diffey a star. Indy fans have hated the guy for years. Guess he politicks well and does things in a way that keep the bosses happy but those bosses must not spend any time listening to their customers or they never would have had a hard on for diffey to begin with.
As far as DB's future, this is year 3 of a 5 year deal with peacock. Who knows who has the contract 3 years from now, but if the people in charge at that point aren't the same people as now and have paid any attention to what's gone down over the past few years, why wouldn't they call him up and see if he's interested? The only bridges he's truly torched are RC, Diffey, and peacock people.
Matthes has obviously known this story for a while and has asked DB at every opportunity to spill it. What more do you want him to do? JT can't be expected to say much or he'll be next in line to get the same treatment.
Any idea if Diffey and RC are calling Birmingham? I'm trying to brainstorm some T shirt ideas. Was actually considering doing the RDL VIP thing anyway and might be able to have some fun with this.
Office/corporate politics are the absolute worst. Bunch of fake ass ppl faking it to suck up to the right ppl. Diffey is a clown. Everyone knows rc isnt even a local c rider when it comes to broadcasting. Hopefully in the future well have weege/db and adam/jb the real stars of the broadcast and none of the suck up losers like diffey/rc with no talent who make it ahead through ball washing and blocking other ppl. Disgraceful.
Has anyone ridden a RC450 yet? Does it sometimes violently kick in the rear wanting to toss you over the bars when you're not looking?

Funny thing is DB isn't actually good in the boot, average at best. Like Ricky. Weege and Stew are the real deal. For the rest of the story, that's just one side. DB is no stranger to exaggeration.
There's always been an undercurrent to rc, I guess part of what drove him so far.
But I don't think NBC can ignore this now.
I'm on the fence with Leigh, I'm not sure how much rc is affecting him, clearly the booth isn't working as it sits.
I think time to buy out rc's contract ( I'd keep Leigh, with two of bubba/Emig/ac/Jett - db I'd get him into a role where he's pushed, maybe even outside sx/mx, with the goal of next year a key role, definitely a rare talent, handled the VIP thing real well, incredibly quick thinker w/ a good voice ).

Regardless of how you rate Blair, Carmichael is NOT good at all in the booth. If it wasn't for Monster, Ricky would be turfed.
Ricky, whilst the absolute GOAT in MX / SX, he cannot string a sentence together to save himself majority of the time in the booth - the exception is the latest round at Daytona, and on podcasts. When he isn't trying to be so exciting he sounds like a fun dude. I wonder how much rehearsal he does beforehand because he can't call anything as it happens. Without offending people like him, he sacrificed his education and development to be the best MX rider ever. Ricky just can't be taken serious as a TV talent. A small bunch of fans stick up for him, but he isn't that great. Just isn't by any measure of success.Hat's off for trying though.
DB was better than RC 100%. However they had totally different roles. Diffy has been doing commentating for a long time, so it makes sense they would preference him. RC is Monster's guy. It makes sense Ricky gets what he wants. But it doesn't mean its right. I honestly don't think DB is better than Diffy or vice versa - they both lead the crew the best. My main gripes with the broadcast were missing incidents, RC blabbering out stupid stuff and too many cooks in the kitchen.
Weeg and DB were a great combo, like dream team level !

Not a fan of RC or Diffy so they get muted too, seems I mute most of the broadcast now.
The only way I get through it is to wait to replay and fast forward to just the racing only and mute blabers.
Someone stated how well Paul does broadcasting GP and "YES" he's absolutely excellent...too bad we can't get that.

It was hard to listen to Matthes and JT beat around the bush on this on todays pulp episode, I don’t think JT could have swung of RC’s nuts harder. It would be good to get their honest opinion on this one.
