I think that last little bit of speed Roczen is chasing will be hard to find, the KTM group have an amazing amount of data and fast riders to learn from as does Yamaha. Unfortunately Kenny isnt going to find anything from Chiz and Colt. I think he could win this with just being consistent, apart from the lapper incident he has been solid.
Hearing coop talk about the Yamaha engine package makes me think there's a lot more on tap there than what a 15yo suz can put out. Kroc is doing great things but yea it's a tall order.
I don't know, he might be 1/10th behind but he is still out there competing while others are in crutches.
You saying the power of the Zook is holding him back? Is this something Kenny himself has said?
What a stupid comment

Vital: 450's are too fast.
Vital: Roczen needs a faster bike.
The top 250F kids ride faster laps than the majority of the 450 riders outside the top 8. In SX, bike power or Hp doesn't = "speed". To me, its more related to how to get the power to the ground and then cornering just a 0.1 sec faster.
It's silly to think his 450 isn't fast enough right? I think Eli is the only rider I've heard say he wants his 450 as fast as possible and we know his riding style is nothing like Kenny's
I could see this being true if Ken was just starting his career. But he’s on the back 9. Ken has had the same problem for the last 5 years. Amazing start speed and slows up just a little at the end of races for whatever reason. It’s not a lot but with the caliber of guys he’s had to race in his career who are able to keep pace until the checkers..
If Ken hasn’t been able to fix this by now. He won’t. Just my .2
Speed he is looking for I took it as, was within his craft.......not the machine. His Suzuki is just fine indoors..... In fact, along with every 450 on the track, Those bikes make too much for indoors. Power outdoors is where it matters more..... Those big bastards need some room to spread their wings..... Can't do that in a football stadium.
I’m sure Jamie could make that bike way “faster”, but that doesn’t necessarily equal speed. Kenny was just being honest, as a whole package they are a couple tenths off. Listening to him in the press conference it sounds like he puts that on him, and maybe needing to just fine tune the bike a very little bit. I don’t think Kenny would change teams no matter what other opportunities he was given, he seems very happy overall.
When I said faster I wasn't meaning the motor, obviously it's more than capable, just look at his starts. I'm talking the lack of knowledge sharing as a package for his whole setup.
Kenny boy needs to just stay home and use them fast twitch muscles on himself. I thought Chokemac was bad at times but this performance takes the cake.
Its amazing how well Roczen is doing on a bike that hasn't changed since 2018, has the same engine design- cases, cylinder and head castings as 2008 and is maybe 20 to 30 lbs heavier than it's competitors on the production lines....
All above are measurable and, starting, stopping and moving the bike is subject to the laws of physics.
Motocross must be the only motorsport where many fans believe abike like this couldn't be attributed to 0.1sec a lap slower.
Bravo to Ken, it used to be the Suzuki LCQ for a reason 😉
Don’t mistake more power for more traction and drive. He doesn’t seem to have the little bit extra exiting corners. Maybe he’s choosing the wrong choppy ruts, but those Yamaha’s and the KTM seem to have so much pull out of the corners. Could be rider.
Idk if it’s me, or the Yamahas short fenders. But damn it looks long and slow to turn too.
I don't think its the bike holding him back, i think a a couple tenths could "easily" be gained just from technique. IMO this is the best Kenny has looked (aside from 2017 maybe) even with all those years on honda and all the works stuff they had he still looks better now imo.
Holy shit did you see Kenny carving that Zook inside of the inside line, a master of the craft. Go Ken!
I think Kenny finds the speed and is in this title hunt til the end.
Kenny seems to be enjoying himself more now than in years past. Makes me wonder if competing (and winning) on an old bike has reinvigorated his confidence or something. Either way, I’m a CW2 fan and find myself rooting for KR just as much.
Pit Row
He needs more SPEED, yes. He doesn’t need more power for that to happen though.
Webb’s first test on the YZF was aboard Eli’s bike.
He reported it was too powerful for him, it needed toning down.
In the 450 class, it isn’t a game of ‘power’ to make lap times.
Roczen is hailed as one of the fastest SX riders.....yet Coop keeps catching him, passing him and people keep saying Coop doesn't have speed.
Vital.....you gotta love it.
The inferiority complex you demonstrate for Webb is impressive, it’s been years now
If there were real.whoops, coop wouldnt stand a chance.
I'll bet you there are plenty of times around a lap where that TPS reads 100. It adds up.
When people talk about speed they don’t talk about the last 5 minutes when Ken goes out of steam, they talk about when he put in his fastest laptimes.
The problem is that Ken can only do that for 60% of the race and then he drops the pace. Sexton, Tomac, Jett and Webb can run their max the whole race.
But that has improved substantialy, he's got it up to 95%.and still gaining.
I think he’s proven he’ll find a way. Regardless.
He's been blowing Cooper Webb for so long and so hard his teeth are cracked and his lips are trembling.
If that were the case, they’d all be riding fire-breathing 75hp monsters. Making more power from these motors is EASY. But they don’t need it.
Also the 500cc class wouldn’t have been scrapped in favour of 250s being the premier bikes.
There’s only so much power that can be used on dirt and typically a 450 has enough.
Pro bikes sure may have a bit more power but bundles more refinement to suit their pilot’s needs.
