450SX - Where does it go from here??

Wouldn’t it be interesting to lay out cards on the table now, then come back and re-visit what we said and see if we were correct?

Tell us here what you want  to happen in the championship and what you think will actually happen..

What I want to happen:

I want Chase & Webb to have a few mediocre/bad nights, whilst Kenny wins/podiums each time, closing these points back up. I think Ken has a legit shot at finishing on the podium every week. If Chase and Webb slip up a handful of times, this gets exciting!

What I think will happen:

Chase probably feels a huge relief of pressure with Eli & Jett out. With this relief of pressure, I think he will ride more relaxed & go on a tear of podiums and Wins, wrapping up his 2nd championship.
Webb won’t be far behind, but he will gain two points one week & lose four points the next.
I just don’t think Webb gives Chase fits like Eli & Jett can.

Give us your thoughts.

I don’t think Chase is relieved what so ever.  Webb is a known commodity and will be there down the stretch. So chase needs a few more points to be comfortable and he’s going to ride like he knows it.

On the flip side, if he wins, people will start with the stupid “Jett/eli were out talk”. Chase wants to win straight up against these guys.  And we as fans lose out on that battle.

I’d love to see Kenny make up the gap and make a 3 way title fight… but if either Chase or Webb goes and wins the next few, that’s hard to do.

All I want to see in the 450's again this year is Malcolm win another race and get some podiums.  Daytona would be an epic win or even podium.

I think people are getting way too hyped on Mookie. I'm pumped for him that he won a race, but I don't see him being a championship contender. IMO this comes down to Webb and Sexton. I would like to see Roczen be in the fight, but ultimately I think it's a 2 man race. Not saying Anderson and Mookie won't exchange podiums with Roczen, Webb, and Sexton, but I think it comes down to the top two in points now.

Head says Webb, heart wants Sexton to win over Webb. The mistake this past weekend and the loss of positions afterwards gave Webb that much more momentum.

What I want: to see Malcolm shock the world by winning the title at the last round.

What I expect: a relaxed Chase winning 5 more rounds and cruising to the title.

What I want to happen:

Kenny wins a 450 SX championship

What I think will happen:

Chase will win yet another championship due to attrition and the Vitards will bag on it 😂

I could see Webb sneaking in another title tho

I believe all the answers you seek are already in all the other recent threads with slightly different titles....

Chase hasn’t proven to be consistent at all this year, this could still get very interesting

What I want is for Malcolm to just realize he belongs up front, win 3 more races, and become a title contender. I'd like to see Roczen benefit from a complete Sexton meltdown, stay healthy, and win the whole enchilada.

What I think will happen is Cooper Webb will take the points lead by the time we reach Daytona, and he'll retain it all the way to the end.

Maybe wishful thinking, but would love to see Anderson click it up a gear and get in the mix for some wins.

Solid start to the season and not far out the points.

Isn't he the only person with multiple wins?

Want:

No body else gets hurt and they all finish out the season healthy.

Shimoda step up to the 450 and ride a few East coast rounds.

Malcolm battle for more wins.

Can't believe I'm typing this but Chase get the title.

Think:

Malcolm gets a couple more wins

Shimoda stays on the 250.

Chase will walk away with the title.

Cooper and Kenny battle for second place

Yes he is, but he’s followed up those wins with a 6th, 5th, and 4th. Only two podiums so far. Pretty good considering he’s gone down twice but not showing consistency

How do you be “ not consistent at all “ but yet have the red plate.

What I want to happen: Sexton and Webb to stay healthy the rest of the season and have a back-and-forth battle for the title, with a single-digit point difference entering SLC. Don't really care who wins - I like both guys.

What I think will happen: Basically what I just laid out, except I think Sexton throws away a couple of races with stupid mistakes/gets a couple bad starts and has "weirdo" races, and Webb wins the title by getting on the box every single week from this point forward. Basically, a Dungey vs Tomac 2017 scenario.

My brain went exactly to 2017 Tomac vs Dungey

I'm not stoked on how the SX has ended up, I wanted a Jett v Eli v Chase season. In terms of who I'd like to win, Kenny would be my first choice, then Chase, then, even though it's pretty unlikely, Mookie. I think the reality will be that Chase wins again. He has more speed than Webb and certainly more style. Oh, that's right Webb has no style.

“Looking at the season so far, clearly SX is unpredictable, like every season. So, ok, everybody, now what’s your prediction?”

Chase will win and Vital will claim it requires an Asterisk next to it.

What I want to happen: A few wins / break-out rides for riders like Anderson, Mookie, Cooper or Barcia. And the championship to be a three way battle between Webb, Sexton and Roczen. As Roczen never won a SX Championship in the 450 class, it would be a great accomplishment for his already amazing career.

What I think will happen: Unless any injury comes up, Sexton will win the championship. Webb will be there every weekend and keeps it close until the final round. Roczen will be top 3 with some off nights like Tampa. Anderson will win a main and we will have another unexpected winner. I just hope we will not have any more injuries

What I want to happen:

Neither of the Lawrences or Tomac are injured.

What I think to happen:

Some guys I can't stand will finish 1-2-3.

Kenny for the Title

Barcia parks Anderson, then they have a series long bitch fight in every bowl turn, providing amusement for the fans while returning less than mediocre points results

I guess the same saying KR94 for the title and he has not won a race this year.

I think Webb's speed won't be too far from Chase's at a lot of these east coast rounds. As long as he can keep Chase within striking distance, he'll be able to battle and possibly pressure Chase into mistakes. Webb also looks a lot different as a rider on the Yamaha than he did on the KTM. The way he was throwing the bike around in that Tampa heat race looked a lot closer to Villopoto than classic stiff Webb.

There is still the excitement of several racers who can score enough points to win the championship.
