what is that?
What is it - is it for real?
Another Chinese 2T bike?
It's a bit like what a bloke I communicated with on KTMTALK, a few years ago was doing.
He'd cut his KTM frame, and was doing (after a couple of other ideas, I think) a low perimeter frame mod much like that. The shock was really laid down much like a Cannondale, and that bike, and, I suggested he do a Swingarm Shock mount (removable plates) much like the BMWGS450X, to have the ability to try different set ups.
He also was wanting to eventually do a Boyesen Link set up . It was going to have a RPM Manufacturing (?) 340cc(?) kitted 250/300 engine in it, but, he may have settled on what I think was a 315cc kit from them, after trying the 340 .
Whoop...there it is
First off, shout out to all you Veterans today ! Hand salute.🇺🇸. I think the story on the bike was that a few Detroit engineers built it, including Sean Hilbert, who went on to purchase Cobra Motorcycles from the Maimone family. The pic was from the Indy MC show. I’d been looking for a pic of this bike for years… I think a few pros ride the prototype at Red Bud practice one year (?)

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Thanks for posting that Rup ! Yeah I was looking for that awhile back too and couldn't find anything. I probably have the magazine it was originally in buried somewhere. If I remember correctly you could order chassis dimensions to your liking and it had a TM engine but it never really materialized .
What could have been.
I bike with plastic designed to catch the top of my boot!
I was so excited when this info came out. A DI two stroke with rhe ability to be set up from the factory with appropriate ergonomics amd suspension settings. It was announced shortly before four strokes took over the sport. I believe there was footage of a prototype being ridden back then.
Remember the curved silencer too?
Is that one of those aluminum 2t exhaust pipes from around that period. Welds look fatter then steel.
It certainly looks like an Aluminium pipe.
Unless they Bronze Welded (big beads) a steel pipe and then plated it / painted it a sort of silver.
I get some people think I've an Alloy pipe on my bike - nope, it's just a Devol WR200 Pipe guard we couldn't sell at a dealership I worked at, that I cut , shut and added to, to protect my 500s pipe, up to the Fiberglass pipe guard the CRE came with. The things got more welds than Frankenstein's Monster had scars.
If anyone can find more pictures of that bike, I / we would greatly appreciate it - thanks for putting it up Rupert X! I vaguely remember seeing it / such a thing long, long ago - perhaps in Cycle News.
Never seen this before or heard anything about the project. Would love to see any more photos or the video of it being ridden if it's out there. Even though most of these kind of projects never get off the ground, it's pretty cool that people have a go. Those side panels make it look like a toy at first glance though 😄
Yeah, I was thinking that too.
Those pipes were called "PowerBrand" if I'm not mistaken.
Is that a single radiator the goes across the whole front?
It looks like an AI dirtbike before AI was a thing.
The canondale had a radiator in this style too if I recall correctly.
So did the 1997 CR250
I thought it might have but I wasn’t positive. 👍🏻
Here is a grainy action shot of the REV that was sent my way.
Pit Row
Thought it was a two stroke Cannondale that someone built at first glance.
Here's a '2 Stroke Cannondale' - a bloke put an ATK / Can Am 406
engine in a Cannondale chassis. He made a complete , bolt in downtube and cradle set up in Alloy, and a fair few other things, like an alloy airbox etc. I can't recall where I found it - perhaps here, or on the old 2 Stroke Motocross site :
That's actually pretty cool. From one of the least reliable engines ever, to a bulletproof old air hammer. Less is more! 😄
cool find.
Smokers forever.....
Here is the bike as of today
