Sprained ankle would explain his riding better than bruised calf I would think.

Agree.  Hard to explain his body language on the bike with just the calf.  But an ankle has the potential to be a longer and harder road.  Bad for us fans….

Naw, I used to roll my ankles playing HS basketball all the time. Definitely be limping for days. And if we had a game that weak, they would tape the fuck out of them so I could still play.

You also didn't line up for a heat race and a 20 min main event the same day you injured it.. lol

Wrap that bitch up nice and tight and pop some painkillers. Injured Tomac is still good for 5th in the current field

😂 hell yeah! I actually could dunk in HS. Not that I'm that short at 6'1". If my feet leave the ground now I'm afraid something will break. Basketball is harder to try and play on my body than mx at this point in my life. Other than the whole crashing part of it, of course

Ankle sprains cover a pretty broad spectrum.  I have sprained my ankle playing basketball and BMXing many times; all with different recovery levels. I have sprained each of them bad enough to be cast as well as other times that just needed an ace for a few weeks. I also sprained my ankle in the middle of Army basic training but was able to continue without even reporting it to the drill sergeants. It was pretty well swollen, but it wasn't nearly as bad as other experiences that would have made it impossible to continue. I decided to suck it up instead of being recycled so it was not a bad one. Either way, ankle sprains are not all the same. I suspect Eli's wasn't on the bad end of the spectrum. The bad ones did not allow me to walk AT ALL so he may be in the middle somewhere since he was able to walk back to the pits.

No matter how his season went, this dude is 32 years old and was skimming some of the gnarliest whoops we’ve seen in a minute with a broken fucking leg. What a bad motherfucker.

I would bet after riding a heat race and a main event on it that it was worse after? I’m also not a doctor lol

I think this seals a 2026 effort. There’s no way you go ride in that kind of pain unless you’re willing to spend it all for another title. Unless outdoors is a complete nightmare, we’ll see him in 26.

I have a strong feeling he’s back for 26 SX with a vengeance

Christian Craig suffered the same injury (fractured fibula + ankle sprain) back in 2021 in SLC and was able to get back on the bike in 17 days post operation. Each fracture's different but it still gives some hope to see Eli back on the bike relatively soon, at least well before the start of the nationals.

It would be great if he could be back for a couple of round of Supercross to have some gate drops before Pala

There’s also a 40 ish minute podcast on whatever podcast platform you like, what’s premiering in a few minutes is the video of it I think.
