Vince Friese has now wrapped up the 2025 AMA Arenacross Championship. Vince seems to have all the tools to make a run for a record number of championships. He has starts, a solid team behind him, outstanding race craft and a ferocious demeanor to win. Do you think he could be a threat to Kyle Peters, Buddy Antunez and Dennis Hawthorne’s records of 5 AX Championships by winning 6?
Who, today, could come into AX and beat him?
Friese setting an AX record? Who can beat him?

I can’t believe nobody had the balls to park him at any point.
I watched the whole series and Vince rode clean and smart for the entire series. Many don’t like him, but he is a fast son of a gun and I look forward to seeing him back in SX.
There’s just no one as mentally “off” as Freise, and there’s not a Tyler Bowers or Jason Anderson racing against him atm. Somebody will get him eventually 😎
The guy is about a top 15 sx 450 rider. Nobody in that class is even close to that.

Even close? Breece, Hicks, Politelli, Wageman and Peters all were serious contenders for him.
How many times has he been beat ?
Hicks beat him once . Maybe more I never checked out the results.
Congrats to Vince. Dude is a warrior. Hope he's around for a long time.
He's exactly where he belongs
Comments like this are funny to me.
The best guys in AX including Kyle Peters don’t come close to Friese’s skill and speed. You have to have both of this to park someone that much better then you. I am not a fan of Friese but it’s the truth. Face it, Friese is a legit top 15 450 rider in SX, some nights a top 10 guy. The top AX guy Kyle Peters won’t even top 5 a 250 SX race.
When Kyle made his move to Ax, he was a top five 250 guy. During his second or third title run, he got multiple top fives and even a podium in 250 Supercross in the same year. 2021 if I remember right.
What does an AX title earn you on average?
Agree with everything but the last half of the last sentence.
Nothing like it was . Late 90,s Buddy made ovr 550k . I think Chad Johnson was the last rider to win a pick up truck in AX or SX. Also the last rider to win a championship on a 2-st. He still races he won both motos in 450A pro am , races 30A also. Wi. Might hv the fastest 30A class in the country. 14 racers at some tracks a 4-5 guy can go 3-3 at red Bud on a Suzuki.
Back when Mike Kidd was the man behind the AX series and standing room only crowds the riders were really well paid, just the dash for cash when they went around collecting cash from the crowd it made for a awesome show. Mike Kidd did it right. 😎
I was deep in AX when Hawthorne and Antunez won their 5 Championships and witnessed how difficult it was to win week in and week out. The riders also had to deal with the track crew, because if a rider dominated Friday we would go to work changing the track in a few places to throw off the fastest rider from Friday... it very seldom worked but we tried to keep the racing intense. Looking around who could be the next rider to win 5 in a row, to be honest that will be up to the teams. AX will take a rider and "TEAM" that is willing to put it on the line. AX is little different than SX or MX, it's tight, intense and things happen around a rider very quick. Like any championship, the rider has to commit. Back in the early days our series teams raced 125/250 AND 250/450 four times a weekend!! Often that was 50+ main events. So the answer to this question will be answered after the MX series to see what team is ready to step up to winning an AX title then grab the best rider available.
Happy for Vince.
As long as he never races an SX main again that is.
Hi Mike, glad to see you posting here. Back when you first came to the Denver market I got myself in a jam by getting you the SRAC mailing list because they thought the AX series would hurt local racing, talk about being short sighted and not looking at the bigger picture and it was really cool when you got us in touch with Dennis and Yoast to ride out of our shop Four seasons sports center when the race came to town every year. Still remember letting Hawthorne ride my hopped up Honda aero 50 to wash his gear at the laundry mat down the street and he almost looped it on Colfax. 😎
Pit Row
Yeah, I hope he stays there. He's a fucking menace. There won't be a single rider in SX that will miss that steaming turd.
Dog, ML done coooooked your ass 💀🤣
the problem is in SX, he's a top15 guy there but starts in 1st and makes everyone work to get around him.
Here, he starts in 1st, but hes way faster than anyone else. He didnt need to do much blocking to stay out front and therefore not cause any issues for others
Friese is already 34 years old. He is definitely the fastest in that series now but don't see him still being the fastest at age 38. I'm thinking someone else will come into the series before then or he will just get slower as he ages.
Friese is on another level this year in AX. I don't think even Peters would have had anything for him, either. Maybe Hicks might give him a run for his money next year with a better program.
A little early to start talking all-time, but Vince was dominant. It wasn't because of a lack of talent against him, he had very good AX riders competing against him; he's just that good.
I constantly hear "they should've knocked him down" or "they are scared to knock him down." Vince comes from the early MTF school of aggressive racing and I'm pretty certain was sparring mates with BamBam before they were even on big bikes. Friese races for every position extremely hard and has upset nearly everyone on the track he's raced against because of being so hard to pass. That's a skill, that's his race craft, that's him controlling the turn and not leaving the door cracked open. Guys would love to knock him down, but they can't. Not because they aren't good, it's because Vince is smart enough to not open himself up for it.
Who is good enough to come into AX and beat him? It'll take a borderline top 10 or better 450SX rider or top 5 250 SX rider to have a chance. Breece, Hicks, Politelli are all close, but they'll need to step up their program somehow to make up the gap.
AX suits him. I’d luv to see him stay there. In SX he’s simply an ongoing Hazard & has been such forever it seems. Though he’s fast & a good starter, his Hazard style remains. The AMA is always weak in his direction.
Go Figure.
Weston Peick can beat him, just as he deserves.

Pretty good series this year. Some of the tracks have been really good. Big and technical.
Looking at just purse money from the race, Friese was making $5600 if won both motos and the clash. If he did that both nights and is getting contingency money from all the sponsors, he’s gotta be making better money than a supercross main finish ~15th. Might be a good retirement plan for him to keep going the AX path.
King of the sandpit
No one cares coz its Vince Freeze
You could make 5 k a week I 98 racing Lake Geneva Friday night sx in Wi. . And Sunday the nuclear series in Byron iL. Both tracks close together & flat drive there. Kawi flew Jimmy Gadis 93 125 w champ in for all 15 rounds. He did not win the title and get the solid gold huge trucker ring. Eron Ezerins from West Alis / Milwaukee did. Hicks was a lot faster on the Honda last yr . I think he won 1 night though. Didn’t check results this yr. Hicks has him covered by a mile talent wise.
