It looked like a blue pitboard, all the way at the end of the mechanics row.
In the 250 main, it looked like Cole Davies mechanic was at the end, I have no idea if that's where he was in qualifying or if it was him who struck Jo though.
My fear is that it cannot be fixed until they reduce the swelling so he may not be able to get it done tomorrow.
Comparing a human with a tough block isn't a very good analogy. I would hope the mechanics have an higher IQ than the tough blocks do. Tough blocks cant think for themselves, they are an object. Maybe a flagger would be a better comparison - flaggers stick hitting a riders hand. The tough block thing reminds me of the gun argument. Like the gun can think without the hand.
How is that, in any way, Jo’s fault?

Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Tuff blocks you can see tapped in 4th. Knife edge pitboards not so much.
If I was Juju, I’d make sure I stayed out good and clear of the mechanics’ barrier the rest of the season…😎
You expect to find good analogies on Vital?
New Rule???
Rule #2U-4Q-2M.E:
A: Any mechanic holding a Pit Board / Towel / and or Tool, shall not infringed, impede, touch or strike another competitor or competitors motorcycle.
B: Any violation of rule "A" shall receive a fine and a 1 lap penalty.
C: Fine $1000.00 (Goes to rider or team that infraction happened against)
D: Rider / mechanic involved in rule #2u-4Q-2M.E, will not have pit board access for 1 year.
E; Second offence, PILLORY.
Why not make hitting riders with pitboards legal?
Foam the edges and you can also throw them, but you only get one pit board for the night
Hand guards FTW
Never understood why more people do not run them.
One would believe that he had to be really sick for PC to let him pull out and switch coasts at the last minute.
I Agree. Just a poke at him, as riding sick for a race might have made the rest of the West Coast series interesting with the current situations we now have.
And here I thought he would fess up to it…
I've used them at big R.C. car races (radios) where there's 16 drivers on the stand and it's hard to communicate with your pit for fueling. We do 30-to-45-minute mains and it's a love hate relationship. I need to fuel but it's very distracting whenever it's on Vox and you get random information and crosstalk from pit lane. I've had to toss the headset...
Like I said. Stirring the pot. It’s a snowy Sunday I have nothing to do but troll today
If someone threw a beer can at Jo’s head some of y’all would still claim it was his fault for being where the beer can was flying. JFC, a pitboard or mechanic is not an obstacle the riders are meant to take on. It was 100% the fault of the mechanic.
It’s so absurd that it’s almost funny that this mechanic thought it was so important to tell his rider he was sitting 12th in qualifying after 2 minutes that he took out the current points leader because his head was so far up his own ass. Idiot.
Pit Row
I raced a 2 hour xc race with a fractured metacarpal in my throttle hand last year and that sucked balls. His pinky finger looks like a compound break, that must have really sucked. Geez, I hate that for him.
I saw during the races that the mechanics with pit boards were behind a single barrier.
After this freak incident, maybe have two barriers between the mechanics and riders, so I can never ruin someone's season again.

Or place them in an area where the racing line is not encumbered by them.
How about just doing away with pit boards completely and let the racers figure the race out on their own? It's 20 minutes, not like a 3 hour endurance race where you're worried about fuel.
Why are the mechanics positioned such that the boards are in the racing line?
Change pit boards out for messages on the jumbo screens
Maybe I am wrong but it sure seemed like Eli got the message to go inside in the sand.
How do you figure it was in any way Jo's fault? He was on the track where he belonged. The mechanic left the board out to far where it could hit someone's hand. 100 percent the mechanic's fault.
Same
And it looked goofy as hell with just 1 handguard on. Maybe try protecting both of your hands lol
Not that I have a problem with the pit board system. Sh*t happens. But I think they could improve things by looking into replacing the pit board system with a digital tower (similar to the leaderboard tower) with a half dozen or so 'slots'. Mechanic enters message from his phone or pad or W/E. When a rider's transponder is within 'x' proximity to the digital sign board, any msg appears at top and remains until he leaves the 'zone' or it gets bumped off the bottom by other riders entering the zone. Fairly easy to implement given they already have the leaderboard set up. Just add another and re-purpose it for this. A voice in the helmet would be way too distracting, IMO.
Wait one damn minute! Are you saying that IT’S NOT THE RIDERS FAULT when someone OFF THE TRACK actually HITS THE RIDER WITH A PIT-BOARD?
HOW DARE YOU! 😂
Seems to me the RIDER is on the track and has the right of way. In what world is that not obvious?🤔
So, aside from all my sarcastic bs…I’ve got to ask: what the hell is wrong with some of these people?
Foam edges is the best solution for sure. Really easy to do.
Post a reply to: So who's Pit Board was it that Jo hit?
