Dude, you are a moron. PNW tracks are struggling to get insurance to run because of this shit. One spends $17,000 for a race weekend to be covered. $17,000!!!! Everyone is being forced to put up fences to limit access to the track. Washougal and Woodland for examples. Both of those tracks have pretty much banned pit bikes and ebikes - again, insurance-driven. Most of them are limited to when they can run because of county noise ordinances and complaints. Idiots like you are why we are losing tracks. Go buy a UTV and head to the dunes with that crowd of clowns.You'll fit in fine. Sheesh.

In So. Cal. to visit my dad. While driving between Ontario and Hemet I was thinking of all the tracks that used to be in the area. Milestone, DeAnza, McCassy's old place, Elsinore, Saddleback, and more. Yeah, some were victims of development, some had insurance issues. But either way, don't be one more nail in the coffin.

When I was 10-11 I saw a guy borrow a bike to do a rhythm section, street clothes and no helmet.

About two years ago I was having problems with my front brake on my 125 and rode it over to an empty field down the street to test it after I thought I had figured it out. Just idling along in 2nd gear I grabbed some front brake to test it’s engagement and the thing locked up so damn fast I had no time to react. No helmet or anything, knocked me out for a few seconds and definitely suffered from some concussion symptoms the following day or so. I will never forget the lashing I got from my chick when I told her what happened later, now that I’m a little older I have the same realization that the little tip over could’ve easily killed me or left me with some debilitating effects. I feel so stupid every time I look back on that.
No but I've seen a Shin vs Footpeg, there's not a lot of flesh to go through before you see what your bone looks like.
I did this on a klx 140, just messing around on a hill climb. Foot peg raaaked my shin, saw my bone and ended up with 32 stitches. Had normal gear on other than moto pants and boots…
Funny you mention that name in this thread. When taking classes with Kenny Yoho he would sometimes demonstrate with your bike sans helmet etc. Lol
Whoa Billy bad ass it sounds like you should stay home and ride on your own property without a helmet. I’d bet when your insurance company finds out you got a head injury without a helmet on that there will be plenty of issues you wish you didn’t have.
I’ll add another helmet story.
We grew up with our own motocross, natural terrain, BMX, and flat track/ speedway tracks on our farm. All but the natural terrain track were in a paddock beside the house. At all ages we raced all manner of bikes, from 80s to 500s, jumped cars and played smash up derby regularly.
Just about everything was fair game, but if we ever dared to get on a bike or step into a car without a helmet, no matter who you were, Mum would appear at the gate in a flash brandishing a stick. Needless to say even the grown men learnt not to flaunt the helmet rule.
That stick was the only insurance she ever needed 😂
When I was maybe 8 years old, my dad and I trucked his trail90 to a local riding spot to cruise around double on it. A guy riding with no helmet went down going pretty fast on a big powerline road and almost tore his entire ear off. It was near our truck so my dad wrapped his head in a towel and drove him to the ER. I guess that made an impression on me (and him no doubt). All the gear, all the time!
Knew a talented Freestyle rider. Between shows at an event in a parking lot, he was saluting the crowd by doing a slow wheelie, helmetless. He knew what he was doing riding-wise, and was standing it up at a walking pace.
He hit a small concrete parking curb he obviously had not seen. Probably tried to save it but landed on his back. whipping his head on the tarmac.
A young kid lost his dad because of that.
Personal freedom is important, but sometimes the possible outcome is just not worth it.
I seem to recall a Bay Area OTHG guy that died whele warming up his bike for an oil change. 5 minutes down the street and didn’t come back. Bare heads and asphalt aren’t compatible.
If I was in that good of shape I’d ride around naked too…
It used to be my dream to own a motocross track. Now not so much. I would much rather just have a small private track that myself and some close friends enjoy every now and then. Everyone wants to sue.
