Wow so ET3 really left JL in the dust - He was behind JL let got up to 15 and JL stayed in 22 ?  Not even a contest for ET3  !!

I take it you didn’t watch the race?? Jett was last off the start, got up to about 15th, then went down in the sand and back to last. Made it to 11th from there. Tomac rode much better if that’s what your point is

So basically what you’re saying is- Suzuki are getting this bike development thing just right??

Results say they've had it right for a long time...

Can’t they just put those ugly shrouds on the old bike?

I saw Jetts press day interviews. He looked like he hadnt slept in a year. he wasnt talking righjt. I saw he didnt have a speed advantage in quali. I messaged my son and said that Jett aint winning today,

I am worried about Jetts head space right now. I am also worried he is turning into stewart where he quit alot. Jett quit in paris. He quit in Aus . He quit tonight.

Sounds like I am a hater. The opposite. he is goijng to win this title. Just needs to get his head on straight. (bike does look shit, But Jett will be fine)

I saw what you’re talking about, almost seemed like he had something completely different on his mind. He wasn’t pushing that bike at all, just casually riding it. Of course if you don’t trust it, and you’re a smart rider you won’t.

Have you forgotten all we used to hear was how bad the previous generation chassis was. They modified that chassis with bracing, etc. The 25 is supposed to be more like that and what the Lawrence’s wanted. Now all of a sudden the 24 chassis was golden? B.S.

While Jett didn't look 100% happy with the bike he was still capable of winning last night IMO, seems like the second crash in the whoops just really tweaked the bike as after that he didn't look aggressive.  Hunter didn't look comfortable at all though.  The starts did not look good though, makes me wonder what they lost by giving up the works ECUs

While everyone seems to be focused on the new bike, that they’ve had since outdoors last year, I also remember Showa came up with new factory suspension during the offseason, and to me the bike hasn’t looked as good ever since.
In saying that, they could come out and blitz next weekend and we’d all have to eat crow. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Did some of u really forget hunter switched to the 25 model very early cause he liked it so much and was comfortable with it right away? He made his debut with the 25 at unadilla (and got 2nd).

Yes I believe most of us did, but (and here’s a big one). Supercross is a completely different animal, and they are using a few things different than what was used outdoors. ECU is one thing, and can’t recall the other at the moment. Could be cause I had surgery on my shoulder yesterday and I’m a bit loopy. 😄😀

Jo’s setup isn’t based on the previous generation bike, at all, since they were making him fit the Lawrence setup the previous year. All these guys have different things that make them comfortable, idk why they would try to force their style onto him.

What fukn bullshit.

If the bike is so bad why was Jett gobbing off about going undefeated in SX this year?

There's nothing wrong with the bike.  The riders caved.

Everyone yapping about how much Hunter loved the bike outdoors. That’s outdoors, totally different.  Hunter went backwards, Jett wasn’t himself. Maybe they were too close to Kitchen the last few days (sarcasm)

Theyre fine, but what I really mean is the way yamaha has slowly refined the same bike since like 2014 and ktm did the same with the bikes everyone loved from 2016-2022. Both slowly tweaking small things year to year with a plastic refresh after each new generation of time has passed to feed the need for it looking new. Even then the yamaha plastics havent changed very much either and ktm in that period looked the same but the plastics just kept getting smaller. I think the slow and steady tweaks with a plastics refresh every 4 years is the real ticket. Yamaha went from damaging their reputation for a generation to back to the top of the game through slow and steady refinements and a focused vision over a long period of time. They could have panicked and put the engine back the other way and threw it all away. Instead its been a slow cook since 2014.

I think Jett is so confident he thinks he can win no matter what hand he is dealt, which is why he has been so good IMO.

Why did Honda change? Because the consumers complained about the bike feeling harsh. And, consumers purchase bikes when they refreshed. i.e. “better” . Problem is, they aren’t always better.

Agreed. He isn't concerned with the bike. He believes right now that he's winning the next race.

You have to realise, in any company, the whole ethos is to keep coming up with new stuff.

So the design office i am in, we are working on the 'new version' of something that works fine, and has done for 10 years, because if we dont do that, we dont have a function, and neither does anyone else.

Motorcycle manufacturers are one of the worst, because they are still working on 'annual' bikes.

Obvs Suzuki just employ a 8th grade student to do new stickers.

And you have to realise , you need to develop a bike that can win, that works for Jett and Hunter, that a fat idiot like me wont kill himself on in Vet B .

It had been so turbulent between Chase and Roczen they got desperate and decided to let random fans take a crack at the thing

When Honda released the new bike the Lawrence camp sure played up the narrative that it was engineered in consultation with DJ Dazzy Dad to fix the problems the boys had with the '24 bike . . . and Honda built exactly what they wanted.

Interesting note from Will (what?) that HRC gave Shimoda the Lawrence bike last year and said just ride it we know it can win. This year they set the bike up for him and here we are. Maybe, just maybe, there is not one single golden setup that works for everyone? Maybe instead of saying Sexton was terrible at setting up a bike they should have instead just said Sexton's setup didn't work for the Hunters?

Anyway, I'm sure Dazzy will figure it out.

Think about the number of champions who, when reflecting on their career, won over and over only to have the manufacturer change to a chassis they couldn’t win on.  How do they manage to fumble to that degree? If you’re winning and want to sell future bikes based on people trusting that it can win championships why would you fix what isn’t broken with what I assume is also hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) in obsolete R&D to build an inferior chassis.

Sounds like you want a bike that has proven itself but hasn’t made massive changes over the years.

So you want a Suzuki?

Hoping the Lawrence’s don’t leave Honda because of this struggle, I heard those Dryft scooters from Race Day Live are offering them money you can’t refuse leave Honda build Dryft’s platform from the ground upIMG 0608 1

There’s a middle ground.  Lots of changes to a chassis vs zero are 2 ends of a spectrum.

As others stated, Yamaha has slowly built off of a solid chassis for almost a decade and it’s working great for them.  Easily one of the best platforms right now.

and winning everything there is to win over and over and over and even having a perfect rookie season….. and then just throwing that whole bike in the trash. Same exact thing KTM did a few years ago which trashed webb and christian craigs seasons. Why do these manufacturers do this? Obviously the bike didnt make jett hit the tough block and his result in this race was all due to mistakes he made, but Im talking more about the new bike and how hes uncomfortable as hell and making mistakes all over the place and not confident. What is the point of them always changing everything and then chasing their asses for a few years until they figure it out again?

Going back to keefers test of the 07 crf450 he said that is STILL the best chassis of all time. So if they had just kept the chassis and kept improving the engine and suspension theyd be golden and saved millions of dollars of money and headache. Is it just because theyre paying a bunch of engineers and have R&D departments and so they always just have to change things just to change them? Id imagine the R&D isnt allowed to say yea the chassis is actually pretty good our job is done for years. Why not tho? Its a valid question. Seems crazy that these brands always get something good going and then change it all just to change it.

All that being said tho shout out to chase. He hated the ktm too but its been a few years now and he looks strong as hell. If hes comfortable now and he hasnt had front end issues since the honda hes gonna be an absolute monster to go up against. Jett definitely is gonna make it interesting trykng to close the gap for the rest of the season. Definitely makes it more interesting.

-Also shimoda did seem to like the 250 so not all bad for honda, but damn.

This is the argument against the production rule.

It’s funny, cause the whole premise of this thread is “why do they do clean slate redesigns every year?” That’s exactly what they tried to avoid for 2025. The pro teams complained about the chassis and the choked up airbox, so the made some slight modifications to the frame and redesigned the airbox. Then they threw some different plastics on to create more contact area for the rider’s legs. All of this was based on suggestions from the riders.

So basically, they did exactly what OP complains that they didn’t do.

The issue was Jett. His typical text book posture was gone and he seemed to be mentally chasing the bike instead of leading it. A bad bike can cause that, but there are countless other factors that will too.
