Replaced stock sprockets 13-49 with 14-52
Going to start racing a YZ 250 X for more of the sprint stuff and tighter West hare scrambles, so selling a couple things off of my 450 if anyone is interested.
Will post them in the for sale section, but the Luxon clamps are going up, which I think are great and would highly recommend.
agreed love my YZ compared to my KTM. Had FC re-valve and spring for my weight and threw on an fmf slip on just for looks. That AKRO looks amazing though. Ordered the 25 linkage and motor mounts cant wait to try em out.
Are those stock bars, if not what bend did you go with?
Any ride reports on the new REP linkage?
@CarlinoJoeVideo have you ridden it or just crunched the data.
REP has BF sale and pondering picking up new linkage.

No unfortunately I’m still healing up from a little get off. I have a few more weeks.
Just numbers on paper to me busy 😔
I’ve spent too long in Athens, time to return to Sparta.

Kidding, plan to keep both!
I can share some setups that worked for me, this can be a tricky bike.
For me it's all about trying to add stability and comfort back to this thing.
OEM 2016 Yamaha YZ450 24mm offset clamps: still a factory feel without the added rigidity of many aftermarket clamps. Felt like a 40% headshake reduction. Big step in the right direction.
NuAxle: highly recommend, move to highest offset setting. Combined with the clamps this begins to give the bike a comfort feel something closer to the 2022. Google it, single best upgrade possible IMO.
Suspension: fork caps flush, sag 115mm. Adjust clickers track to track. Kept spring rates stock but did revalve for a slight bit more holdup on fork.
Mapping: custom map on OEM CDI, max aggressive. Yes, it increases output on an already fast bike. But if you can control your right wrist, it can help you roll 3rd gear easier with the meatier power.
On the list to try: FCP cups, an exhaust.
We got to a happy place.
What kind of riding are you doing mostly and at what level? That seems a pretty extreme lean towards straight line stability. Also just a note for others the 2016-17 stock clamps were 25mm offset
Well they have been called 24s and 25s. They actually measure 24.5mm. I bought some in a parts lot and just measured them. I’m glad I read this and may have to give them a try.
So you could say I’m half right… I remember the reactions of people not being happy when the 16 came out and Yamaha called them 25mm offset. I actually bought a set to try but admittedly I didn’t measure them. Personally I thought what they gained in a straight line or corner entry they lost way more in mid and corner exit in terms of grip so I ditched them that’s why I’m curious what type of riding Adam is doing for his setup.
Vet A, 100% moto. A mix of everything but I do spend a lot of time in sand.
24.5mm clamp was probably overkill for the 2016, but to me the 23-24 is begging for more offset. These changes seem to only add stability and reduce oversteer without any downsides.
I still don’t think it restores it to a 2022 feel, but makes it somewhat of a blend of both.
Another point of view, which I don’t think I’ve shared, is cutting the shock. I had Enzo lower it by 2 mm, which effectively kicked out the head angle, and ultimately had me go back to the stock offset clamps.
Big change in balance front to back and in regards to the bike staying flat.
I can now comfortably run 106 mm of rider sag and the bike doesn’t feel too high in the rear to be off throttle or downhill. Wiggle and fast turning feel on the front end are also gone.
Adding spacer to lower shock is probably and extra $50 if they’re already in there. Cheaper by far than triples, races, etc.
Has worked great for motocross and off-road for me, and even 1 mm I think would help.
Ok boys, just picked up a 2025. Ordered the powerflowkit, a skidplate and two sets of plastics.
Seems like either 13/49 or 14/52 is the go-to gearing?
Suspension will be built for my speed & weight.
Anymore pics? How’s the Akro?
Did you have any trouble bleeding you hydro clutch? Mine was a pain. Also how much free play did yours have?
What year is your bike? Are you saying you purchased the new 25 engine mounts and linkage knuckle? If so what did you notice as far as changes?
I don’t see this on their site. Did you have to call to order this?
Yes - call or email them. Chelsey will help you out!
Pit Row
Do you remember how much the setup was?
$500
Actually just installed on my son's 23, bleeding took a bit, first I used a brake bleeder to get the fluid through, then used a motion pro one way check valve bleeder, got pressure pretty quick, still a bit of air , would creep a bit as rims increased. Pulled the slave off the engine , pumped the piston a bit, got more air out. Ssems to be working good now. I followed the rmatv video.
Just tossed the Hydro clutch on my 24 Yz450, I'm wanting to get an after market lever for it, does anyone know what levers are compatible? I know Arc has some but I'm using ASV atm their site has the Magura/brembo but I'm not sure if those are correct. I reached out but they havent responded back yet due to the holidays.
Might’ve missed this in the thread, but has anyone tried the older/longer swingarm? Curious how that would work with the ‘25 knuckle/linkage setup if those are compatible.
Only seen one of the fellas feedback mentioned chain and sprocket life wasn’t quite as good. Anyone else?
Anyone tried the longer linkage. I believe PC goes from 142mm to 143.5
I have never had anything other than oem but came across a sweet FC link that's same spec as PC. Not typically a tinkerer but curious if anyone has tried this (sorry if it's been covered somewhere in the previous 76 pages)
Ordered a flywheel weight yesterday, should be at my house by the end of the week. Will be a while before it gets used as it’s currently snowing.
Can you share what you ordered?
Didn’t know any were out yet.
May as well send it down to me in Florida so I can test it and provide some feedback on whether or not it's worth it. Not for selfish reasons at all. Purely for the benefit of the community alone 👍

Yeah, but what does Keefer know over some rando 50 year old dude in Florida?
