With word on streets Next year 250 class ama rules bikes will be “stock” with only mods are suspension, bars/grips, pipes, clutches and wheels.

I think it’s a great idea. Might hurt the accessory industry a bit

Helps privateers for one. It also looks like they’re trying to slow these bikes down. Also helps with slowing tracks down too. Might help in bike sales etch

I think we all can agree bikes have gotten a little out of hand.
It’ll be interesting to see what the rule(s) actually ok like when announced but it’s coming.

Not a chance the factory teams let that happen.

The only rule change is lower sound levels. There will absolutely not be a stock bike rule

I almost don’t want to ask where you heard that

Edit: just saw your source was a poorly worded and misinterpreted Brian Deegan video. Nuff said

I haven't heard that but I would be really shocked if that were to happen. The AMA haven't done anything about Factory bikes at Lorettas, let alone pulling the rug out on fully decked out, Factory 250Fs at the professional level? I would be shocked that the teams would be on board with that. I could be totally wrong though, as I have no idea what rules/restrictions may be coming.

Not just going on what he’s saying. There have been many diff rumors floating around about what bikes could be like next year cause rules. Not just what “Brian’s” saying. He’s the first to comment on it publicly

So everyone will be on Yamaha next year 😉? Without the opportunity to "level up" the HP why would anyone want to field a team with stock bikes other than the fastest? Especially Pro Circuit that is in the engine development business. 450s are fast enough that it's about ECU/traction management. 250s would be significantly differentiated by such a rule.

Where?

I follow the sport pretty close and haven't heard any of those rumors until you brought them up.

Would love to be able to educate myself on it more.

The stock 250 yamahas I've rode are slow with zero top end. Don't bode well on the dynos either. I think people confuse the factory motors they have 12 years of r n d on with the stock bike

That drastic of a change would severely impact our industry. As it is with the incoming sound rule, the aftermarket pipe companies are hard at work now coming up with new specs.

The word on the streets are wrong. The only thing they are doing is lowering the sound, and they are taking this rule seriously for once.

Also, look for a lot of bike inspection issues next year, they are going to be tearing down a lot of bikes next year too.

It wasn’t a full factory 250.

As far as tear downs, is that 250 and 450 or just 250?

Sound limits and age restrictions will be the changes.

I believe Jeremy Albright  mentioned this on Pulp a few weeks ago, if I’m not mistaken.

450 is open season(outside of frames) while 250 has the production rule or whatever it is that states your parts need to be commercially available

Both classes have a production rule.  So you're not even close to right.

Can you admit that or just wanna talk some shit to try to deflect from looking like a dumb fuck?

There is no rumors other than what you write here.

There is sound changes coming based on or similar to what FIM is doing. 109/111db. That will impact bikes a lot.

Do you rally think that for 250 SMX they could in less then 1 year bring such a rule through? OEM, aftermarket parts, stock bike development with 3 years R&D in the pipeline.

It's not even a rumor.
