A few vital friends said i should start a new thread based off a post i made this evening in this thread. https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/The-Hurricane-calls-out-The-Hype,1210869?page=4#comment-7249926
This track is balls breaking rough. With no triples or anything resembling an SX track, Hannah is able to beat the locals. The locals however look pretty damn good in their own right.
To me, this is real MX. A natural whooped out track that looks like it gets groomed maybe once a year. Enjoy.
P.S....how cool would it be if Gauldy and The Newf were commentating this race eh?
Track has cool rollers I don’t consider that a rough track tho. Keep your speed up & the rollers become a flat straight. Rough tracks hv 4 ft round square holes 16 in deep. Bob s speed is equal to a 14th place local 125 class rider of now.
my dad was in this race, I’ll post some pictures tomorrow. It was really cool to watch this with him this afternoon. That track, on those bikes, would be incredibly brutal might even make a guy like profeshenal break a sweat 😂😂
It reminds me of mabton
That is one brutal ass track
That right there is a real motocross track.
The professionalism of today is great, but I miss the days where top pros would turn up at local races.

Alaska and Bob Hannah,
there is no substitute.
When I watch old races like this....
1) the bikes bounce like crazy!!! When did compression/rebound adjustments come in? I don't remember them on my '78 RM125. I just remember a shock and a spring.
2) the bikes don't accelerate. It's like like they sit there for 1/2 a second and then finally get some momentum.
3) Cornering is stop, pivot, gas.
Track looked great!!!
This is really cool!
Awesome share OP 😎
99 Crystal falls in the UP Mi. District 16 Wi. Never worked the hilly sand track with whoops & square holes everywhere, there 1st race . Not good on a 98 RM125 kicking side to side then clip a deep square hole & cartwheel wo in 4th or 5th. Stilll hv races but the track is worked now. Alex Martin ,s 1st pro am was there . A couple Mn. Riders make the long haul some yrs. Up Mi. Riders ride alot of gnarly tracks so there fast. Some yrs a couple Canadians race too. Night time is cool u can reach out & touch the stars.
What is Motocross? - See the above vid
Thanks for the share !
Sweet ride there.... If I remember, those were a 1 year only bike? I was only 14 when those came out, forgive if I'm wrong
A reminder of what moto should be.
MRGA.... Make Racing Great Again
I remember when Brad Lackey showed up in '85 at a Argyll Park in 250 Pro for a local race. I was in the 500 that day and got to watch the 250s, was something special to see an ex-world champion. Same with Hannah or any other National champ. Quite a treat.
Thanks for sharing. Great video and looks like MX should be.
Sorry man. Your way off on this one. Hannah is ripping in this vid. You of all vitards should appreciate and respect a world class rider on an old bike on a legit track. His speed there is equal to a top 15 nationa 250f rider on the same track. Get off my lawn!
Pit Row
Bro, the tracks he rode where so rough he has to get 7 knee injections a week. Dude rips it full bore!
Funny you posted this, I planned on posting this too at some point. This is the track I raced at quite a bit. It doesn’t look like that now but it always gets rough with very square edged holes and the dirt is very rocky as it was an old gravel pit. It’s still pretty damn brutal today
My dad raced there that day. Having Hannah up here at that time would be like Tomac showing up to race, pretty mind blowing!
I was really impressed by the production value of that broadcast, we would never see anything like that today
I asked my dad about the condition of the track and he talked to Jimmy Stewart (might see him at the Vet race at Glen Helen, he was a former pro rider) who ran the races up here and the track hadn’t been touched in a couple weeks, hence the roughness
God that track use to be sick, now its a pile of shit.
Saw that on YouTube yesterday. 👍👍👍
Seat, gas tank, rad shrouds are 1 year only and only the 250, the 125”s never received these parts. Donny Schmidt ran a one off factory 125 with this bodywork at the 88 GP in Pa. I tried to build a 125 with this body work, I thought 86-88 125 would work but not even close, Suzuki used a prototype 89 RM125 with the 88 RM250 bodywork….
Absolutely, and when the Golden State Nationals would have half the factory riders in attendance.
You have got to be the biggest joke on Vital anymore. Team Meth head.
Awesome photos!
Your Dad’s a Beast. If Bob wasn’t running a cheater engine 270 with works transmission, crank, ignition, hubs, brake system with special pads. He would hv stayed ahead of him.
^^^ Paging @ML512 . Is the "ignore user" function in the works? ^^^ 😃
You been drinking a little? It’s a fun vid it popped up on my yt too. But the current top 14 local 125 has a Super high intensity and ride tracks that rough all the time. Check out Millville 125 bc regional or Tomahawk 24 regional on Matty B channel. Sugar Camp in Wi. Had 250 yard long whoops 3 some 4 ft whoops. Hixton Wi. Had 400 yard up hill whoops Lechien raced his 500 there & got beat by the locals. Look at the pro,s now 9 whoops don’t compare current soft pro,s with the 80,s . The late 90,s tracks had 700,800 at local races. Millville had ovr 1,400 in 97 now those where the roughest tracks.
Profeshenal125
If you sold merch I would buy a t shirt and rock that mother everywhere !
