What are you going to replace your KTM with?

Like the title states. I have owned KTM's dirt bikes for decades now (and one KTM street bike, don't ask) and if all this financial shit with the company doesn't work out, it leaves me wondering what brand my next scooter will be? What would any of you be looking at? Maybe Beta?

KTM's won't be going away, this is just a restructuring of debt.  I rode a new generation KTM 450 the other day for the first time and it sure felt like the last generation YZ to me.  Completely different than the 2018 that I have, and at least for me, not in a good way.  So maybe a Yamaha, or am I the only one that noticed this?

Can’t say I’ve heard that comparison anywhere but everybody is different, feels different things. It what ways did you think it felt similar ?

Mostly the cockpit, it felt really wide forward of the knees, but also small and the bars felt like they were way forward.  Maybe its just that giant freaking front fender tricking me!

Keep in mind I have spent more time on an RMZ 450 than my old KTM this year and that bike is very tall and seems quite slim.

Suzuki filed for bankruptcy over a decade ago and are still in business, but may have to do with the lack of development of a bike. That being said, if Yamaha is truly coming out with a 350 in the next couple years, that is what I would buy.

There is nothing to indicate any Japanese oem is making a 350, unfortunately.

I’ve never owned a KTM so I don’t have a dog in this fight but I’m old enough to remember when Triumph was doing their long drawn out debut people kept calling them “ black ktms” so maybe they’ll switch to Triumph haha

If possible another KTM. Otherwise, a KX450. You couldn’t give me any CRF450 after 08, I’ve absolutely hated every YZ/YZF I’ve tried, and Suzuki is just a no-go, always has been.

I’ve seen 24 450 SXFs for 7499. If I could ride that gen frame and liked it, I’d probably go that route. Otherwise I might try to snag a 25 if the pricing plummets.

At this point, though, I love my 21.5 and only have 52hrs on it, so no real reason to trade up for me at this point.

I am afraid there is no equal replacement for the KTM 690, besides the Husky 701 or Gas Gas 700, of course...

Not the best example of “they’ll still be here.” Suzuki America filed for bankruptcy in order to exit the car business.

I already replaced the GG trials bike with a Mecatecno e trials bike. Beta 200 would be my replacement of a KTM. Austria just lost cheap natural gas from Russia. High energy costs will result in more exported manufacturing away from Austria. Maybe some btc billionaire will take a liking to KTM.

Stark Varg.

Our family owned many KTMs and really loved them, however starting with 2022 models and newer we have had problems with every bike.  I will never purchase another KTM again (if they even keep building moto bikes).

My option is that they changed moto in the 2012-2015 era.  Then were the best (or close) 2015-2021.  Starting in 2022 they started to cut corners (crank issues).  2023 was the fuel injected 125s.  They are somewhat sorted out now, but they were an absolute joke when first released.  Almost caused our family to quit moto forever…

Goodbye KTM.  It wasn’t me, it was you.

ADV bikes, I'd go Aprilla, Yamaha, or Ducati. Dirt bike, I'd go Honda or Beta.

Since the Japanese don't make an off-road 2-stroke that checks all the boxes a TX/TE/XC/XCW 300 does, it'd be Beta for me.

Whoever made a good 350? CRF, KX, RMZ, or YZF

Nothing except for Kailub Russell going to Yamaha to help develop the 350.

Bankruptcy was the only way General Motors would buy the american car division of Suzuki.

Another KTM 350. Be it new or one with low hours

Where’s the evidence of a 350? I remember the thread it was a nothing burger in terms of actual proof.

I have a 22 350 and it's been amazing, 105 hrs and have done nothing but oil and air filters. I'm looking at 25 350 maybe this week, might hold off until Jan\feb for rebates but also afraid they will be sold out . First world problems I guess

What are the odds folks will get nervous about not being able to get anymore and start paying up for the bikes?

That’s probably what ktm is hoping, create a little demand would be a good thing.

I would say the majority of people are not that deep into the weeds on the ktm situation and don’t expect them to go anywhere.

That's what I'm wondering. I think I will just pull the trigger as they gave me a decent price anyway

Don’t think it really affects the moto market too much - The off-road market is a different story.  The XC models are literally the perfect bike for my kind of racing ( hare scrambles ).   The enduro market is highly dependent on the PMG group.

I've owned several Ktm's and now a Husky.

Just bought a Sherco 300 and wow it's a really good bike . The stock KYB suspension is phenomenal as is and still has a carb!

Never thought I would be on one but I'm not going back to PMG but I appreciate the good times.

Just bought a 24 GG 350 for 6800 OTD. Still have a 23 GG 250 2 stroke. Good for a few years. I would think about a 25 KX 250.
