From the 2023 Penalty Posting...

Following the 2023 WSX Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, UAE, WSX hereby confirms Race Direction issued three (3) penalties to riders at the 2023 WSX Abu Dhabi GP as per the post-event penalty report.

The below penalties were issued by Race Direction, which is made up of the FIM Delegate, FIM Race Director and Clerk of the Course:

Penalty 1

Rider #3, Vince Friese: Two (2) position penalty for dangerous riding in WSX Race 1

Penalty 2

Rider #49, Mitchell Oldenburg: Disqualified after entering the mechanics area backwards in WSX Race 3.

Penalty 3

Rider #3, Vince Friese: Two (2) position penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage in WSX Race 3.

WSX’s Race Direction will continue to retain full diligence on rider conduct, including ensuring all riders ride in a safe and responsible manner at the upcoming 2023 WSX Boost Mobile Australian Grand Prix.

Quote from SX Global/WSX’s CEO, Adam Bailey: “As we grow this new FIM World Supercross Championship, racing and the integrity, must be paramount, as is rider safety. As the promoters of the championship, we want to see hard racing that provides an incredible spectacle for fans and spectators; however, we rely on the FIM and their officials, to implement and enforce the rules to ensure both integrity and safety are always maintained.”

And...yet...here we are, again. A year later. Same series. Same shit.

As someone that’s been watching him since his early days…I have to ask…

Isn’t Vince involved in an awful lot of this shit? Didn’t we have an identical situation…just last season? Why is it that his name ALWAYS comes up and it involves a shitty on-track move…and…yet…here we are…

Again.

HOWEVER…I’m not interested in “so-n-so is an Ass Hole” or any other such stupidity…at all. I’ve heard people talk shit on everyone from The Man to Danny LaPorte to MC and it’s all just…well, it goes no where and it’s stupid.

Vince IS constantly “at the center” of this shit.

Vince IS a problem.

Disciplinary Action…LEGITIMATE…disciplinary action is waaaaay past due. Action against THE RIDER, that is. Personally, I’d take his eligibility away for a period of time. That would be ALL licensing associated with the FIM. What the AMA chooses to do is entirely up to them and I’d leave that to their discretion.

For the record, I like Vince; but, he needs to change his behavior out on the track and he needs to learn to stop being a safety hazard. Time to lose the black hat.

Unfortunately history is a great predictor.

He's 34 and been riding like a cunt his whole career so he's unlikely to change...it's as likely as magoofan suddenly becoming lucid and realizing "ohhhh this is why no one can stand me".

Zero self awareness...we've all seen interviews of him after incidents where he just stares blankly ahead...the lights are on but nobody is home.

Same with seriously penalizing him as well.  The cynical side of me thinks he gets away with so much because the higher ups enjoy the drama it creates.  I'd say the ONLY thing that would get him in massive trouble would be if he seriously injured one of the headline attractions...eg Eli, Jett or Deegan.

We can only just wait for him to hang it up and fuck off.

Cleaning guys out in corners has been a part of Supercross since the beginning.  They need to quit crying about it and get him back, or just retire if your body can’t handle the abuse anymore.  This is a professional sport that is only professional because fans want to see action, and there is no denying that Vince brings action with him wherever he goes.

What Vince does is not part of racing supercross or motocross at all. Arenacross? Sure. This sport is professional because we want to see who can go the fastest on a dirt bike, not because we want to see guys get taken out and hurt.

Next time someone shows up to your job and ruins your shoulder, don't let them get in your head.  Remember, if you say that was wrong or complain about it then you're a HUGE PUSSY.

On a serious note, wtf is wrong with your brain.

I was going to post the exact same thing. Deano keeps getting smoked by vince over and over and over and over and over and over and keeps doing nothing about it. Vince knows he can do whatever he wants to deano because he knows deano wont do anything about it. Every time something happens he makes a video talking about how fucked up it is and then just goes back to riding clean around vince. Then vince punts him again and he yet again has a surprised pikachu face that something happened… again.

If deano wants it to stop he has to go make it stop, because the promoters have shown a thousand times over that theyre not going to do anything about it. GO TAKE MONEY OUT OF HIS POCKET and then hell get the picture. Deano needs to take his panties off and go punt vince into the 5th row. Yes it sucks and everybody totally gets it, the promoters should do something about it, vince shouldnt be a douche, and you should be able to just go race without being murdered. But thats not the reality you live in so you need to go do something about it.

Remember when barcia had the red plate and did a super dirty hit on bogle ruining his race so bogle waited for barcia to come all the way back around the track again and fuckin bombed him into the stratosphere? Never heard about barcia screwing with bogle again since then did you? This is motocross its not salsa dancing. Grow a pair and destroy his fucking world for once and then hell think twice next time. If not then keep being his whipping boy for the rest of your life.

Wilson just needs to take Friese out…..blah blah blah, brainless macho talk.
Wilson is focused on trying to defend and win a  championship, exactly what he’s paid to do. Do you guys seriously think he should risk all that just to go after a known dirt bag on the track for a moments revenge?

Umm yes… Look how far playing nice has got him this far, on the couch with a dislocated shoulder. No championship, no money. In life ppl have to learn that nobody is going to save you but yourself. Vince hardly even got a slap on the wrist this time so nobody is stopping him and hes just going to do it again. Theres a HUGE difference between defending yourself and brainless macho shit. Brainless macho shit is going out there and wrecking ppl on purpose just to prove how tough you are.. aka vince. Defending yourself is when youve tried all other options and somebody keeps physically harming you and you finally take it into your own hands to make it stop. HUUUUUGE difference. If deano goes out there and wrecks vince on purpose in order to let vince know hes not going to let him push him around anymore thats not brainless macho shit thats being out of options and using the last tool you have left in the tool box. Life is complex and not all violence is pointless or fake machismo sometimes youre out of options and the only option left is to defend yourself by being violent back. It sucks but the world isnt a fair place.

Agreed, the rules in moto/SX are shaky and unclear and the enforcement even worse.  Freise is at the point where a ban for at minimum a season is well and truly due.  Dum Dum also needs to be properly sanctioned.  I'm sick of his on track shite. It's the same every year and will probably get worse as he continues to drift backwards.  He'll be struggling to get top 10s soon enough.

Wilson shouldn’t be battling with Friese in the first place, but since that’s where we’re at, he should learn how to take someone out and not be on the other side of it. I’d be embarrassed bitching about Friese this much now and not have a slide show of me taking him out too.

Everyone comes on here being tough guys - 'take him out', 'break him in half' etc with no consideration of the riders themselves.  The majority of them admit they have no skill at 'taking people out' and also know there's a big risk of taking yourself out in the process.  Add to this, all the top riders know on-track bullshit never leads to decent results.  Just look at Jason Anderson's career for example.  Yeah, yeah, I realise he's won a reasonable amount of races and a championship but he's also fucked up a lot more by getting involved in constant beefs.

In short, why should riders - who are already involved in an extremely dangerous sport - have to police other riders?  That's the job of clear rules and clear enforcement.  If Anderson, Dum Dum and Sleaze were faced with a season-long ban they would soon pull their heads in.

Finally, the fact that some of you tough guys may have stories from your local track where you roughed up another rider doesn't apply. Pro riders are not c-class weekend warriors plodding around the track at zimmer frame level speeds.  Hence the risk is much higher.

There’s no place for riders intentionally hurting each other in this sport. Times have changed. We have seen the effects sports injuries can have on athletes for the rest of their lives.

Friese is beyond the point where he deserves the benefit of the doubt into whether it was intentional or just a racing incident.

AMA ban / limit obstacles on the track because of the supposed dangers they present to riders… nevermind the fact its a riders decision and ability in how they do sections. Teams asking for jumps to be removed because other riders have the ability / balls to hit those huge jumps. AMA happily water down tracks for safety ruining the spectacle for fans.

Yet they leave hazards like Friese on the track letting him fuck guys seasons up through no fault of their own when no rider on the starting gate wants him there. If the AMA are serious about keeping riders safe. How is he allowed to race?

Really???   As you defend a rider that just injured another rider.  Pot meet kettle.  I’m with Dean and countless other riders who have been Friesed. Complete bullshit, it’s not racing. Getting passed and going backwards doesn’t warrant  cleaning a guy out.

You may have an argument if he was ever going forward.  All these instances usually start with him going backwards after a great start.

That's exactly my biggest problem with the clown.. He holds riders up they pass him clean then he takes them out next corner!

It's gotta be FUCKEN frustrating! He's bringing nothing to the team this year so hopefully they'll fuck him off..

All the 'just take him out' talk isn't gonna happen cause they all need to worry about retribution the next time they're around him on the track.. All these boys are racing for their money.. Don't need to be picking themselves up off the ground in some bullshit!

Be great if he just did everyone a favour and fucked right off!

He’s better at it then they are. That’s why most of them don’t do it back.

Windham smashed him back because windham was faster and good at riding that way also.

It’s rare they are faster than him and also better at that type of riding than he is. He’s really good at it, and spends a lot of energy and focus on it.

But yeah everyone keep talking like anyone could do it to him…

It should be done like teamgreen said, but past that it’s not as easy as you all think it is, not everyone is Barcia.

That's my point - the rules are not clear - they're way to imprecise - and the enforcement is even worse.  But the solution is not to resort to frontier justice, it's to fix the rules and enforcement.  You imagine how riders like Sleaze, Old Hombre, and Dum Dum would change if instead of losing a few spots in the race, or a few points, or $1000, they were hit with $50,000 fines and lengthy bans from competing.

In terms of affecting change to the rules and enforcement regime at the AMA, the teams have all the power here - they should refuse to compete unless the situation is rectified.

Youre right…. its not like these guys are pro’s or anything. Only top tier super elite guys like vince have the ability, back marker schmucks like dean wilson could never. Its a rare skill that only 3 riders in sx history have ever attained, vince friese, justin barcia, and weston peick. Thats it, the big 3. Thats why you never see it happen at the local races, the guys just arent good enough. Theres nothing deano can do about it except make ig stories after the smoke clears. He just doesnt have the talent that is required to crash his bike into somebody, he doesnt unlock his hips enough and his core strength isnt up to par. Thats why its reserved for the true greats of the sport like vincent.

It would be cool if ALL the other riders got together  and refused to race unless Vince was removed.  They would have no choice but to pull him.

Deano signed off on contact racing when he got into with Tomac and tore the hell out of his shoulder years ago.

Kind of like Kenny avoids contact after he got his arm in Webb's wheel.

He has 2 options. Put Vince on the ground or retire.

Wasn't that the other way around?

The way I remember it is Deano put a hard pass on Eli, then Eli cleaned him out and wrecked Dean's shoulder.

I'll try find a video.

Edit:  Found the vid.  Dean's move on Eli was more aggressive than I remembered, and Eli's move was less aggressive than I remembered.

I think his point was Dean tried it and it didn't work out for him so he learnt his lesson
