I feel really bad for the employees there as it sounds like it was very sudden.  I know they don't make the geomax line in the US but it will be interesting to see what supply is like next year as they shift production of all the former US made tires overseas.  I hope they have added capacity at the other plants.

I know 5 guys who work there. There was talk of the plant opening in Pennsylvania or Tennessee.

It's no surprise, NY has been experiencing a mass exodus the last few years now. Businesses are getting smoked by the state government.

Michelin in Ardmore, OK closed too; this country has to produce goods if it's going to prosper long term.

You can only be ANTI business for so long in a State before all your businesses leave...  Sucks for those employees and their families.

157 year old brewery closing in my hometown to move production to Milwaukee.

It's easy to blame governments but the reality is corporations are loyal to the quarterly report, not their employees, community, or customers.

Decisions are made to maximize shareholder value. Sometimes regulations play a role in the decision making process, but it's hardly the core problem.

Only thing we can do is vote with our dollars.

Support local.

(if change is what we really want - most want to complain and be a victim while still buying Miller/Dunlop/Globocorp products on the cheap).

Yeah they are 22,23 co.s I worked for did NY.  Now most trucking co.s stay out of Ny.  Too expensive high toll rates, fuel is super high, Ny. Rates are bad the pay.  I didn’t notice much manufacturing. Too expensive to bring raw materials in .

I agree with you. And there are people that understand this issue.

I don't want to get into political stuff on this board or anywhere... but clearly change is needed. We should make our one stuff that we use.

Sure.  That's why companies are leaving CA by the busloads and the NE is no different.  Caring about the community is very different than supporting Unions and demands that are required by local governments etc.

Shop local.....do you have a moto tire manufacturer that's local or is the bike you ride made in your buddies basement?  Nope.

Had a fun time at a PU Dunlop Boot Camp back in the day with Primo and the boys in Buffalo. Went to my one and only hockey game. Think it was even before your time at PU, Spooner.

BTW, what took you so long to get in a trip to Bentonville?

I had Faulkner with me today and he actually mentioned the boot camp too but I didn’t remember that being a thing so it’s been a while!

I’ve been to NWA a bunch, that was just the first time I took the boys with me.

Dunlop is owned by the Japanese company Sumitomo, they make more profit manufacturing overseas, just like many US owned companies.

As @Soul Indigo said...

"corporations are loyal to the quarterly report, not their employees, community, or customers."

Motocross tires always have been, the New York factory made car and road bike tires.

The New York factory was not profitable, tariffs won't change that.

Hoosiers aren't bad when they're new but that edge goes quick. Just when I thought MX 53's wore to fast , I tried a hoosier and it wore out faster than a flattrack tire on a blue groove.

My cousin says they are amazing, many local dealers just don’t carry them in stock.

In my experiences Hoosiers work well but last about 1/4 the time of Dunlops.

Size up on the rears as they run a little smaller width than a Dunlop.

Really you have to give them kudo's for making MC tires in the US as long as they did.  No other major brand has done that in quite some time.

Americans have to willing to pay for the goods made here.

Are you willing to buy a $2,400 dollar IPhone? Or $150 jeans?
