Chain Tension

Anyone knows what is the correct tension on the new sxf 250 2025? The manual says 58-61mm.

Cut something the right length and place it under you chain when you adjust it...

65-70 on a 2024. The 2025 could be different but I bet it is not. You need to take the shock and link loose on the bottom and run the swing arm through its full travel. If 58mm doesn't bind up then great go with that. If it does keep loosening the chain until it doesn't bind up anywhere in the swing arm travel.

I checked mine like wrc777 suggests and 65mm is the number on my '23 350SX-F.  Much tighter causes binding and 67-70mm has a ton of chain slap.  I've read that KTM revised the bottom of the swing arm for '25 to not require so much chain slack but I would still recommend checking it.

When the centre of the front sprocket bolt, the centre of the swingarm pivot and the centre of the rear axle bolt are in alignment this is the longest the rear end will be and this is the point where you need to set your chain tension.

I'm also curious about this for the 2025's because of some of the small changes to the swingarm and chain slider that were made to supposedly help this issue.

MXA continues to recommend 70mm in their review. I'm baffled at how the KTM manual is still showing 58-61mm as the spec.

4 fingers to be safe for 23-24. With the 25 changes I would still be in the 65-70mm range

I have a 23 KTM and run 65mm. I measure it with the Motion Pro tool and would recommend using it over other methods. I came up with 65 mm by disconnecting the shock so I could run the suspension through it motion and test various measurements. At 63mm there was bind and at 67 there was way more chain slap. 65mm on my bike has no bind and minimal chain slap.

Does the 2022 require extra chain slack, or is that only for the newer models? I saw Keefer's video about it, but it was for a 22.5. Now I'm super confused. Thanks.

No it doesn’t need as much as the ‘23-24s.

For the 22 this tool is great.  It is the correct setting for that generation of bikes.
