Let me get this straight. You already have the fastest guys from the GP's coming over to race your National series, the factories put put loads of money into the series, the sponsors are making the fan experience better every year and you think that MX needs "fresh air"???

The only thing that the GP's seem to have over the U.S. Nationals is the track setup and look of the event. The GP's have a more polished look to me, but the Nationals have been making progress each year IMO.

The teams are putting a lot of money into the outdoors now right? Especially Team Yamaha.

Good point about the sponsors and the fan experience also. Excellent delivery to the fans last weekend to demonstrate this. The television broadcast was real soon after the race and if you couldn't wait; 21st century tech allowed for a great experience from behind a monitor.

That's my guess. If you're going to try and take over the USA start w/the two best tracks. Red Bud and GH.. Although Red Bud being the spot for celebrating Americas independence day on the 4th of July it would be ironic if Mr Luongo swiped that one too.
Dan you will never see Red Bud do a GP. DC/MX Sports and Red Bud are tighter than tight. Red Bud will be 100% loyal to the Nationals.

One thing is for sure DC has created a monster. I bet he wished he could take a mulligan on Glen Helen decision.

I have no doubt that Greg Robinson would love to host a GP. I do doubt that GL would give Dilla a second thought. First, there are no permanent press facilities, which is why they run a lot at race car tracks. Second, it's too far from hotels. I,d love to see a GP @ Dilla I'm not holding my breath.

You guys are off the chain, no one wants to do the GP's instead of the US nationals. They want to race against the best in the best series.

Keep both series. More riders and support getting paid. Even the Australian series is getting an international flavour with money picking up. Now being dominated by an American in lites and Brit in opens with plenty of Kiwis taking podiums.

They don't need Glen Helen to have a great series. The Nationals will be better in the long run. No mulligans needed.

This is great news. I hope they do it.

Whatever advances motocross is good news. MX Sports is just trying to block all the time and advance themselves.

Luongo knows that starting rumors is the cheapest PR you can do. And if there's anyone in the world who knows how to get something for nothing, it's Luongo.

Actually that rumor makes sence after what i was told at the Toowoomba round of the Aussie nationals. Will be interesting to see if it happens.

Barber Motorsports in Birmingham, AL would be a nice place for GP and a national. International airport 20 minutes from the track, plenty of hotels, etc. All those Euros would love some "southern hospitality".

They don't migrate over to do the nationals. They make the switch to ride supercross, and get stuck over here doing the nationals too.

The factories are not pouring a ton of money into the nationals. It's not worth the investment anymore.

The money for racing is coming for from energy drinks and less from OEMs.

Monster just signed up with youth stream after dropping the nationals.

That should lead to some more interesting rumors...

The GPs coming to the US was going to happen anyway once YS didn't get to own (and then kill) the nationals back in 07-08..

Competition is good. What would have been worse is having one entity running both series.

I think definetly the first priority for Luongo is to keep Roczen, Herlings, charlier to quit GP for the US. Moving gp after the sx season especially lites west is a good move.

Starting the series outside Europe with races in Australia, US, and Latin America will be a major struggle for the current GP teams and I can't see many of them able to do this. Although with so many riders contract up for renewal this could be a good. Maybe it's the start of Separate contracts for sx and mx. Shorty could get a better deal to do the sx only for Honda geico and sign with Honda martin for gp then a full year contract with Honda US.

You guys need to stop with purse money and gp. Bonus in the us and the gp are paid by the teams not promoters. They might get a bit of prize money in the us but top factory guys see it as pocket money

Wow, I thought we were doing okay with the nationals. All of those fans and TV viewers for Hangtown seemed to like it anyway. The riders and teams too. And I didn't realize Monster dropped us; did Red Bull drop the GPs? Or did they maybe just do a different deal with a new sponsor like we did?

I know it's fun to stir up trouble and tear down and all, but it's also fun to be part of building something too.

how's the saying go, the grass is always greener............something something.......Do the nationals need some work ? SURE, are they still great just the way they are, hell yes !! I would love to see 45+1 or 2,more rounds would be awesome too....but it is what it is and I ain't complaining !!!

A second USGP on the east coast I think would be AWESOME, I still remember seeing a Honda number 215 racing Unadilla a bunch of years ago and thinking "who the hell is the guy just cruising around destroying everyone in the qualifier" That was the closest I got to GP motocross !!!....I don't care how much of a headache it would be, a USGP BELONGS on the hallowed grounds of Unadilla !!!

I have no idea why anyone thinks that the U.S. Factory guys would rather travel out of the country to race. The GP's would require a lot of travel and unless they are going to offer huge purse money I don't see the Factories moving over. That's just MHO.
