I know it will never happen but IF Kawasaki brought back a 2 stroke 250 I would buy the first one that came to my local shop.
I also said this back in 2017 or 2018 about Kawasaki making an Off-Road race model. In 2021 they brought the X models out and I bought a 250x and 450x.
Maybe my saying this will help the 2t come back! LOL
They will need to build them better especially the 125 . 1or 2 race frames on the pro bikes. I rode a few kx125 they where sloppy & wore out after aprox 50 hrs. Check out Chad Johnson,s # 9 quick pivot battling his team mate Wiloh. That’s racing action and the sound of a racing engine, real quick. No Stupid sounding rev limiter that sounds like a mis fire, 250f. A racing engine is supposed to sound like 1

I dont understand what the commotion is about, that is a KX125, no its a Fantic 125, or maybe a YZ125, does it really matter.

Look, 2-strokes aren’t coming back. We can wish all day long, but it will never happen. Someone mentioned DC, but DC can’t do anything since his paycheck comes from providing races for the factories to race their machines. If they pulled out, he wouldn’t get a paycheck. He could care less what bike the factories make or want to race, he just has to keep them happy.
Sharp I like the DMC, old school. There racing the 2024 kx125 alum frame in 125 emx . Type 125 emx best of on yt. That Kuhn or what ever his name is that kid & the others rip. A tiny Estonia kid is on the kx alum frame too , crazy fast kid. . I think he won a 250 mx2 race this yr. The 125 is the biggest in most states. Not sure why people don’t follow it. But they do if a washed up pro tries to race a 125 at the nationals. The young kids r faster.

I had an '83 KX500. Although not the greatest bike of that year, it was for sure bad ass looking as that 250 is.
Bikes of that era were going thru major yearly design changes...unheard of today. None of them were great....but they all looked so cool.
Take this beauty... Total mess...but one of the best looking bikes of all time.

Yeah that’s my practice bike. The mod bike is all apart. Trying to get a racing budget up . Working for the 1099 Chicago Russian mob trucking outfits. All 9 of them r a disaster, Feb 2021 the rates & freight crashed. Huge drop in pay , every trk is a dangerous pile. I,m trying to hang on a little longer . It’s more physical than jackhammering by a lot. . I,m not working for another. I did a ton of damage to my body , 3 inches shorter destroyed my back, neck, etc. I had dozens of injections to keep going . It’s pointless to be out here . No one is making any money. I did my taxes last week my tax guy said every co showed a loss. The biggest co in America is doing real bad. So w2 jobs r crap too. This is a Ukraine driver text at my co they seem to b the priority, even tho none of them speak English. Illegal but common out here. Even tho he doesn’t understand much of what I said Saturday. I had him laughing .
Beautiful bike....but looks like an every day run of the mill bike. I'm talking about the unique. The 81 CR I posted fits that bill.

I almost cringe to say I bought that one as well in '81. I thought it was a good bike at the time, but it didn't do anything miraculously better than my '78 250R. I still tease my brother to this day as he took it a step lower and ended up with the '81 CR450R LOL.
I've rode green since I discoved MX. Started with a '79 KX80. I then owned '84 & '85 KX125's that I bought new. I went into the 90's not riding. Got back in 2002 by buying a new KX250. Bought new Kawasaki 250's through '06. When they quit selling them in the U.S. in '07, despite riding and racing those years, I just kept my 2 strokes going. I didn't buy a new Kawasaki from '06 until 2022!! I waited and waited to see if there was a chance. They lost a lot of years of selling me bikes. (It didn't hurt them obviously). But I can tell you, Kawasaki is never going to develop and make big bike class 2 strokes ever again.
If they did, they have a guaranteed sale.
87 cr is the better looking of those bikes. Plastic color is brighter, cooler graphics, blue seat, gold wheels and the 1st yr of the rear disk.
Ever race one of those on a windy day…as in a serious side-wind…?

A 2026 KX250-2T…could easily be $7599.

It’s never been a question of ability, any of the OEMs could have a 2 stroke lineup in the showrooms whenever they want. But will they? You probably have a better idea that most any of us, so I’m listening to whatever you’re saying, but I also know that the various political and social pressures aren’t going away.
