I was at all of those Spring Classics, Whitney was the best National. I think it was 2003 they had over 3,000 entries. 3 and 4 divisions of classes.
Wow, good find. Even Guy Cooper was in there 👍
Forgot Nico’s full name is Dominic

Jeff Alessi racing 85/125/250 - am I reading that right? Crazy
Land was worth more for exotic game hunting, end of an era
Honda of Houston got tired of running the event, especially after the Masterpool incident among others.
There is no exotic game on the land anymore. The church owns it from across the road and the land sits unused.
Dear Motoplayground, get in touch with the church, offer them a percentage of profits for a once a year National, no other races.
In the C class no less 😂
Cody Dickey was holding his own against some big names back then
Honda of Houston was NOT involved when Jesse Had his unfortunate accident.
I had thought y’all ran all those races until the end. Please go get it back.
I gotta think Dan Marino looked pretty silly on a 50.
RPM took it over for a few years after Honda of Houston let it go. They also ran races at Millcreek in Alabama...which met a similar fate. Land worth too much and has become a housing development.
Laces out
Think he wore Isotoners?
Contrary to popular rumors, It was NOT sold for any kind of development. If you look, there has been nothing done with the property. The Whitehead family considered it too much of a risk after The Williams took over. The Whitehead family did sell part of the property but it is still badass central Texas land.
Lake Whitney will always hold a very special place in my heart. I learned the dirt from Blake Hamilton when I was super young. I had no idea that one day I would be sitting in the dozer, building and maintaining the track.
So who still owns the part of where the mx track was located ?
Pit Row
I want my ashes spread there. Best track I ever personally raced on.
30 years ago this weekend I had my bacholer party at Lake Whitney. Raced moto a few times and a TCCRA race there once. Got smoked. Lol The trails on that place were pretty gnarly. We used to ride unprepped during the week. We' d go swim in the river or go over to the lake after riding. Such an awesome place!
Here's a combo we all love. Whitney on a 2 stroke, '04. 📸 mom

Austin, I used to ask you whats up when I would see you at tracks around here. When you lived around here, I remember your "05 KX250 2 stroke.
I raced Whitney in '04. I remember that back section, the ruts were so deep, and you just had to pick one and go for it.
That year Mike Alessi and Villopoto were killing it in their classes.
There were so many entrants that year so many of the classes were double gated. It was crazy. Some of the best times of my life were racing there.
That's rad that we used to chat. Indeed, those were some good years out there. Thankful we had them!
I'm back in TX again. Rode River Valley yesterday. Come say hi if you're still riding and we cross paths.
We loved Lake Whitney. Although, the very long and narrow entrance was terrible at the big events. We met a lot of great people there who have remained lifelong friends. Josh now lives in DFW and still hangs out with some of the friends he made there.
Joey
This is actually incorrect as well. It is privately owned by an extremely wealthy woman from frisco. She’s currently buying up vintage motels and restoring them. Her brother is her general contractor. We have done a ton of work for them. It currently has a large population of white tailed deer and a small population of red stag that the family and friends hunt. It was kinda wild to run into him randomly. I raced Whitney from 99-03. Cody Dickey used to stomp me on the regular at weatherford Mx park.
A friend pointed out that Eli Tomac's pop took 4th in Old man A class in the pic posted for 02
We had some great Evo Sports races there.....epic times indeed. Caught false neutral on '75 Bultaco about where shadow crosses track...great feeling😀
Glen Helen, late 01/early 02 I swear on everything Jeff raced 65/85/125/250.
He was a big 12 year old and his birthday still had him eligible for the 9/11 class for 65/85.
The Alessis used to sign up for every single class they could back in the day.
Crazy times
Battling my friend on the last lap in 1982..
