Haiden Deegan Out of MXoN Selection Process

8/28/2024 7:07pm

Here we go. You've been saying for weeks if Eli goes then Deegz would go. Now he was never going to go? Got it.

Its confusing when there's three different reasons not to go stated. Don't come at me for being confused. People forget the wrist happened because they covered it up and then revealed it. I will still support team USA, even if I may not like some choices and some riders on that teams history at this event, I will still support them. Again, Haiden. Lord willing, will have many more opportunities to race this race. He can show the want to go race as much as he wants, but the team may not agree. They didn't last year.

The timeline is out of whack for this 'explanation'.

If he needed to get his wrist fixed why did he not take himself out of consideration for MXDN weeks ago?  He's known about this for that long.

The fact that they waited until Eli had made his decision indicates this was the real reason for pulling out.

This is what raised an eyebrow for me as well.

I don’t care that he isn’t going, it’s this weird deceptive game they’re playing to create a narrative in their favor which could have been done by telling the truth from the beginning.

Anyone remember when they were saying he didn’t hurt his wrist before SX this year? Peppridge Farm remembers.

Holy crap! The Deegan Derangement Syndrome here is real!

Fellas, fellas, relax, breathe! Deegs spoke candidly in an interview a few weeks ago. He alluded that he wanted to have the hardware in his wrist removed following SMX and recover in time for SX ‘25, and that this is why he would likely miss MXON.

Good lord.

Its not just vital, its everywhere, its exhausting telling these people why he's not going, and even confusing when there's three different reasons that may contribute to him not going.

So his wrist is good enough to be the dominant rider all summer but it is so bad that it needs surgery asap.  This surgery will take place after he races three more times one of them being two weeks before the Des Nations.  Excuse me if I think that it is a BS PR excuse.

The decision, however, was ultimately in the hands of Star Racing. Brian also clarified that Haiden hopes to compete in the 2025 edition of the event if he is deemed to be the best candidate for the job at the time that the team is selected.

How convenient! But they were okay sending him if Eli was going? Oh well.

Why am I always hearing what Brian has to say. Ultimate child pageant mommy behavior

Gotta go deegs, stop dodging this. Someone who is so pro American seems to find an excuse every year to not go race for team USA and it upsets me and the rest of your fans. Rv is most remembered by his domination at the mxon rather then all his titles…

He had surgery and tore it again during sx prep. It’s been covered many times this year starting in sx.

971 fan is fake news.

If I'm wrong I'll retract my statement but I don't recall an official statement from the team that he re-tore it. Either way, at the end of sx Chance said he felt 100% so the snarky post which was a cheap dig at Deegan was hyperbolic (and to be expected).

At the end of the day, it's Deegan's career and health. The choices he, his family, and his team make are their choices. Anything beyond that is just keyboard warriors having their say.

I'm not 100% on board that Star is committed to the MXDN...with what they did last year and how they handled Antsie this year...I for the life of me cannot understand why our MXDN effort is such an amateur shitshow year in and year out....I said it last year and I'll say it again the AMA needs to get the teams to commit in January on whether or not they will support it, put a budget together for rider/team costs and start raising money through team sponsors, commit 50 cents of each ticket sold at SX/MX and SMX to help with the budget that in itself would raise over $400K! but no we sell jerseys online and hold a golf tourney like we're raising money for a fucking travel hockey team......Mind blowing! I mean if Matthes can raise $130K+ for the privateer challenge he does through a bike raffle then why can't the AMA or whoever raise anything close for the MXDN? It seriously boggles my mind...total fucking incompetence! Rant over... good luck team USA!

It’s a complete clown show and what is truly baffling is how none of these money raising ideas have even been thrown across the AMA’s desk.

With how popular/friendly the media is with MX sports and Feld, you’d think at least one of these ideas would make it into a conversation with the AMA.

I’d be walking over to the AMA trailer at every round if I worked at the race and ask them; “why aren’t we raising money for this event?” “Why isn’t the AMA releasing statements and apologies when they make a flagging mistake?”

How is there zero communication? Is there some impenetrable fence surrounding the AMA trailer? Do they have guard dogs?

I just don’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️

That and they wait until September to start raising money 🤦‍♂️

Flipping 🤡 show all around

There's 14 days between the final SMX and MXoN. That excuse really only works if he actually does get it removed ASAP like they said the doctors told them instead of racing SMX.

Just because the reason is admirable doesnt mean he didnt back out. He backed out. And for the record i agree with him and you that it was the right thing to do

I think a key difference here is SMX could pay out 500k. Maybe you ride at risk for another 3 weeks and then get it fixed if it meant another half a mil?

Who knows. I’m not his dad, his team or his doctor. Just some guy on the internet.

Not the biggest Deegan fan but the race gets no coverage and doesn’t provide any real value to sponsors. I’d rather not blow 50 grand and recoup after a long year. It’s a waste of money for a team.

No coverage? It's the most heavily covered MX event on the globe. In the US it generates way more threads on vital than any other race and this thread (about about one rider not going) is just one of them and is already 6 pages and counting.

Star and its sponsers have gotten a shit load of publicity out of it already, just the wrong type.

Did you listen to what Haiden said? He said he could ride just fine with his wrist, but that it's better to have the pins removed sooner rather than later.

For some reason  I root for Deegan every week but he is starting to wear on me. The narcissism, the shit talking, the convenient America first stuff and then the excuses to not sacrifice for all that this country has provided for him and his dad. It likely comes down to the all  mighty worship of money. One thing is for sure..this shit is getting old.. It would be nice to see this kid put something before himself, his marketing and his money

Whats the recovery time for having pins removed from your wrist?

From personal experience of getting 4 pins removed from a wrist, it's a few days to let the incision(s) close up.

Not hate, just facts 🤷

Do you hear anything good about Star anymore? The bike, thanks Yamaha.

As for the wrist, it was never about the wrist. If it was, it would have been “No, I need to get my hardware out.” And everyone would have moved on.

Clearly the MXDN is not a priortity for the Deegans, or for Star.

Winning titles is the priority.

Representing the USA is not.

That is, they are putting their careers and money above the honour of representing their country.

Therefore, they should stop waving the flag every chance they get and STFU.

Deegan is doing what's best for him and his career.

He is doing the best for $$$$$$$$, not doing the best for his fans or national pride.
