Power motorsports up in Sublimity Oregon (portland) has a few 2024 KX450's for $6,799 out the door. 2024 KIX250's for $6,500 OTD.

I was about to pull the trigger on this deal . . .  way too many vehicles and need to thin it out or the old lady will start hen pecking LOL

Does anyone know how to get the valving spec from the 2024 KX450 X? I have the 450, but would like to switch to the X valving.

Have about 10hrs on the bike since getting it a month ago now. Suspension is feeling better after break in, which has me holding off on any suspension work until at least winter (if needed). I’ve also made a conscious effort to shed some lbs and am feeling the benefits of it with each ride. Sitting at 170 right now and confident attacking the track.

Really just wanted to pop in and say I’m so damn stoked on the bike. Don’t have a single complaint other than I didn’t pick it up sooner, but my wallet sure is happy. If anyone poking around here is on the fence about buying one - do it.

Does anyone know if the ECU changes from the 2025 model translate to the '24 bike? Did they just update the Rideology app parameters or is their something different with the actual ECU?

My understanding is that they expanded the parameters on the app.

Haven't seen the new X but in the past it was pretty much the same valving with lighter springs with more preload in the forks.

Valving is different on the 450x. If I can find it I will post  it. Springs are one rate less.

2024 kx450x with 3.5hrs on it. Have an oil leak I couldn’t pinpoint. Took it back to the dealer who found it is a lower crank case bolt leaking and they’re telling me the only way to get the bolt out is to pull the whole motor. They want to try to silicone the bolt back in to stop the leak but will have to crack the case if that doesn’t work. Has anyone else had this problem? Pretty disappointed a brand new bike would have this issue. Seems like a quality control issue. The leak is so small that I wouldn’t be surprised if it was leaking when I bought it. Dealer is waiting to hear back from their Kawasaki rep now

Is it the bolt under the shifter?

It’s the lower bolt. Not the one under the shifter

Yeah that’s what I meant. I’m assessing an oil leak right now. I feel like it’s leaking from the counter shaft seal & dripping down but it may be that bolt I’ll keep you posted

Kawasaki tech should have the dealer split the cases to Kawabond it under warranty.

Mines the countershaft seal but the oil leaks to the lower part so it gathers oil around the lower bolt. Seals on these kawis are from Kmart this is my 1100th seal I’ve done in 2 months.

Couple of random questions here. They are probably dumb, but the only dumb question is the one not asked I suppose. Just finally got time to do the break in on my new KX450 that I’ve owned since February🤦‍♂️.

1. I’m new to Kawi’s and coming off of a KTM. I noticed the Kawi sure does seem to make a lot of engine noise. Doesn’t sound like anything to crazy, but definitely more than my KTM. Is this a normal trait for Kawi’s?

2. I installed a full Ti-6 system and I noticed when I was warming the bike up for the first oil change that the pipe right out of the flange turned glowing red in what seemed like a pretty short amount of time. Is that also normal for a Ti-6 head pipe?

Again, I know these are dumb questions, but just figured I’d ask to ease my mind.

1. Yeah kawis have a lot of sounds that I don’t like. I hate starting my bike in the garage or anytime I don’t have to ride it. I feel like at the track it gets drowned out a little by the all the noise 😂 my buddy switched from a ktm to a Kawi he said it makes so much noise it worried him for a while but now he’s over it.

2. Ti pipes for sure glow, If you go run it hard it’ll turn purple!

RGIII - You’re all good on both fronts. Yes, the Kawi’s are a bit louder than many competitors. Running Maxima Premium (petroleum blend) 10w40 oil seems to help with clutch longevity and keep some sound down. As does replacing the non-sealed upper chain roller with a sealed assembly. I run a Moose (1231-0220) piece and have had very good luck with them. Regarding the glowing header, that’s normal as well. Congrats on the new scoot and enjoy!

I appreciate the replies, definitely makes me feel better. I have to say the bike runs out very well and feels pretty comfortable so far. Looking forward to getting some more seat time soon.

Anyone in here found a glide/skid plate similar to the WC profile (slim and tight to the frame)? Looking for something a little more wallet-friendly, but will go WC if options are limited. Thx.

I was looking for same. Apparently the 19-23 OEM plastic one fits and they are ~$35. I have one in my garage and will try it tomorrow.

That’s what I put on mine back in December. Needed to trim a small amount of material, but it works fine.

Has anybody found an aftermarket solution for the new chain slider that took place of the lower roller? I see they are $70 from Kawasaki and they wear out in about 12 hours along with the rest of the drivetrain. The price seems a bit steep to me as it’s already $250 or more to change chain, sprockets, slider, and guide insert. Don’t waste your time with the Polisport chain sliders. Figured I’d give one a try. Lasted maybe 2.5 hours.

That’s crazy. I have more than 12 hours on my bike and the slider looks brand new still.

Do you have a photo of yours? I have 15 hours on my bike and I have literally no wear on it.

I can show you a picture of the Polisport slider that’s shot after 2.5 hours when I get home from work. I’ve never gotten more than 15 hours out of my drivetrain on a KX 450 and I’ve been on them since ‘13. I’m a 200 lbs A rider and I ride mostly sand as thats what most of our tracks are in NE WI. I’ve also used the TM Designworks slider, but they just wear the chain faster instead of the slider wearing as much. I end up needing to replace the TMD slider every time I do chain and sprockets anyway so not worth all the extra money. The lower slider that replaces the chain roller lasts longer than the main slider, but still worn enough that it needs replacement when it’s time for chain and sprockets. Hopefully someone in the aftermarket designs a roller setup for the ‘24/‘25.

That's crazy. We have the same experience with drive train hours, but my lower isn't worn hardly. I have 24 hours and ive replaced chain, sprocket, slider, and guide.

What has everyone been doing regarding the piss poor front brake on these things right off the showroom floor? Anything other than just keep bleeding it?

This must be a inconsistent thing, mine works extremely strong. In fact, i have had a 280mm aftermarket rotor on everything i have owned. This is the first bike i don't think i need it on.

Wipe the rotor down with contact cleaner and install braking cm46 pads.

Mine is just super spongey and just not strong. I am also coming off a husky that had an extremely strong front brake. I will keep trying. Thanks!
