Someone posed this earlier, sounded like a no.

It does not.  I bought a cheap hour meter at the same time I bought the bike.

JBI DIY PRO Suspension Review.

Im a life long mechanic, small to heavy industry. Welder, machinist and fabricator. 46 year old A/B washed up weekend warrior that races sometimes. I've did race tech gold valve shock kits on vintage bikes, built a hybrid 94 / 02 honda shock for a 94 CR125 this winter, changed oil and seals in forks, thats about it as my suspension experience.

The biggest deal with the DIY kit or this work in general is clamping / holding the shafts properly and having some finesse. Watch all 4 parts to have a better idea what to expect or if you need a few more tools: https://www.ridejbi.com/jbi-suspension-showa-49mm-pro-fork-install-guide/

Before: 170 w/o gear. Stock spring rates, added oil to front forks 370cc total. Not bad but high speed chop in corner entry was sketchy. Tightened head bearings a little, helped but still twitchy. Put 12 hours on stock suspension, decided to do the JBI DIY because my local guy Chad that runs Total Control was on vacation then off to Loretta Lynn's.

After: Damn, JB isn't playing around. I'm impressed. Everything this setup claims it does it does. First moto I cruised around did all the jumps riding at 80%. Very plush. Next moto I started pushing, there is a double that will turn into a "triple" bump when the track gets rough. Faster guys will just sail it past the downside and on the backside of that bump. 80ft maybe? Good test for bottoming. Handled it great.

Pros: Basically as advertised.

Smoother fork feel over small bumps because of the improved JBI Suspension Showa Subvalve design
Better fork hold up during aggressive riding because of the JBI Titanium Leaf Spring Cup design
Smooth progressive fork bottoming resistance because of JBI Volume Spacer
The MOST fork bottoming resistance possible because of the JBI Titanium Pro Perch

Cons: Not really towards JBI. Rear shock spring rate confusion. JBI said I didn't need to change springs. 5.4 and 5.5 (stock) work within my weight. Maybe the spring rate is ok but I have never had such light preload tension on a spring before in my life. The collar is 2/3 threads from the top (last thread). RaceTech calculator depending on the variables is 5.3 to 5.4.

The rear unloading off a bigger jump face will pitch the bike forward more than I like based off the "plush" setup from JBI, he includes 5 setups btw. Get this rear a little more dialed and I'll be extremely stoked.

DM any questions if ya got them.

kx450 JBI

I have the same kit , his base setting worked

For me to a certain point then went in on compression and out 2 clicks on rebound .. I know what you mean with the rear end I went out 1/8 turn on high speed and seemed to help … as far as low speed I’m at base

My free sag is 44mm when running at 104mm race sag. I talked to JB a few days ago in regards to the spring rate and what I'm feeling with the shock. He was less concerned about free sag numbers but did add I could try a 5.4 spring. To my surprise he recommended actually trying the softer settings.

Yea I called him and was like isn’t free sag supposed to be like 32-4m and he wasn’t concerned with it run on my 24 kawi 53kg springs in the front and a 6 0 in the rear , and the ass end felt kinda dead feeling to me and I felt it was pushing the front so I went in 1/8 turn on high speed and that seemed to help … I kinda made my own settings though

Could anyone in this thread tell me if the clutch is the same in the 23 and 24 KX 450 ??? I'm thinking of buying a rekluse off eBay and the part number off the rekluse site is the same. Have heard a couple of different opinions and wanted to see if anyone has done this on the 24 kx 450.

Just put the Rekluse radius cx from my 21 kx450 in my 24. Everything is the same.

How good are those clutches? I’m thinking it would really improve my roll speed in turns.

I rode one that was on a buddies crf450 it was unbelievable how smooth it made the throttle initial touch.

I also tried .53 front and 6.0 rear and experienced the same thing. The same I ran on my ‘21 which was dialed. Just put on a 5.8, but have yet to ride with it. RT recommends 5.89 for me so 5.8 should track better and hopefully make my back less sore at the same time.

I really like mine, but I also race offroad and tend to break my clutch lever off. I feel like there is less engine braking, but everything else seems the same as the stock clutch. If it wasn't for the clutch cover most people would never even know it's in there. Finished a 3 hour hare scramble with my lever like this. Without the Rekluse my race would've been over.

Does it affect the pull of the clutch or do you even touch the clutch.

The clutch feels exactly the same. I still use the clutch sometimes coming out of corners if it needs to be feathered to stay in the meat of the power, or to pop the front end up over obstacles. I basically still ride the bike the same as I would without a rekluse, I just don't have to worry about stalling it now.

Got my stuff back from REP. Feels loads better, even just riding it around the block. Felt good enough stock, but every time I have suspension done on something that was “good enough” I forget how excellent already good stuff can be made to work. REP has always done great work for me, and they’re 3 minutes down the road. Will post a ride report early next week.

Little sneak peek ….. We are currently closed to attend an event in Pueblo Colorado but Moto Hose is extremely close to receiving the 1st batch of aluminum CNC fittings shortly after we return.

Does anyone happen to know the torque spec for the stock engine mounts? It’s not in the owners manual unless I’m missing it somewhere…

The last column is torque in foot/lbs.

What kind of deals is everyone getting on these lately? The best price I have found is $6999 plus sales tax. I'm not in a huge rush but I want to pick up a new bike to have for the fall season.

UPDATE: Rideology App

Good News and bad news. Good news is I got my Rideology app working again after the update. Bad News is the only way to get it working again is deleting the app and reinstalling it. It’s the only way around it unfortunately. And yes, you do lose all your data…. Kinda sucks but it is what it is.

Power in Oregon also the same price $6999 (no sales tax in Oregon though). I'd consider $7K+tax a smoking deal considering they were over $10K for a good while.

JBI full DYI/re-valve review: I am a 40A racer in mostly hard pack, higher speed, choppy conditions. Basically I can echo the earlier review and say that JBI delivered on exactly what they said they would. Small bump compliance and bottom resistance is exponentially better. I experimented with clickers and ended up only a few clicks different on rebound both front and rear. I didn't experience the kicking that others described in the shock off of jump faces but I did slow the shock rebound to keep it from kicking in braking bumps. Bottom line is I feel like it was money well spent.
