Wouldn't that be nice to know...Great post!
I’m sure it has been said but I’ll say again. Steven definitely has something against Deegs. He takes every chance he gets to blow deegs out on something. Even contradicting himself many times lol.
Calling Daegan fans bed bugs but he turned a lot of folks against Stank as well a couple yrs ago. Steven says the most outlandish crap…just like WWE.
I have to tune out the constant talk about Daegans interviews. Just talk about his racing please or don’t talk about him at all.
Matthes says he’s a great rider, in shape etc but doesn’t like his personality (podium interviews)
I think that is a pretty fair and obvious take 🤷♂️
He asks multiple guests per show about their opinion on it. Every show.
It is fine if he doesn’t like it but man it is dominating his shows. I don’t think anyone here can say with a straight face that Steve doesn’t have something against him.
He didn’t like deegs take on his patriotism (from guy that constantly talks about Canada), his fans, his interviews, racing incident with Jordan smith…etc.
He is critical of the kid then tries to save face about being in shape and fast. Rinse and repeat.
He said so himself, that he can’t ask the hard questions to these guys because then he would have no one to talk to. Ask yourself, does he care to maintain an open line with deegs and his camp? With all these comments… Clearly not and why is that?

Donnie got hurt prepping for the MXoN on a unfamiliar practice track. One that he never would have been riding, except that he was getting ready for the MXoN. You’re right, he didn’t get hurt at the race, but the MXoN was part of the situation.. I was really bummed about it, he was one of my favorite riders, team Honda was just badass in those days.
Bingo, and I say that as an American. I think Deegan is afraid of getting embarrassed in front of a massive audience and having his brand tarnished. This would make 2 years in a row where he's chickened out
Well I'm not angry or indulged in any vitriol (I know you haven't accused me particularly) but for me I just can't understand not wanting to represent your country and it's frustrating to see someone throw away the opportunity and not want to go..
But I had the realisation a while ago that almost all our major team sports have a national team that takes on other countries multiple times a year and it's usually every kids dream to represent their country in their sport.. Like my only motivation as a teenager to be a pro mx rider was so I could represent team Australia at des Nations
I understand that the US doesn't really have that with their sports and probably why the Olympics are so important to you guys.. Just my thoughts could be wrong
If he doesn’t want to go then I don’t want him to go. Why would we want someone who doesn’t want to represent us?
I was wwaiting on this. He didn't get hurt at the aactual race.
People said the same thing about Haiden avoiding the West Coast in supercross, then he went out and beat everyone at the final East/West shootout.
Vialle smoked those two dudes in the above picture less than a year ago at the MXoN, and Haiden has speed over Vialle all day, so perhaps your assumptions lack merit.
Yet your very first post on this forum in 2022 was this:
"I had to sign up just to say I'm always entertained by DonM and LungButter anytime Deegan is brought up in a thread"
Someone gets worked up over threads about Deegan but it ain't DonM. My guess is, a more in depth reading of your post history would show you jump aboard just about every thread where Deegan's name is mentioned.
It seems that some are a drop off reason in a sea of insanity when it comes to Haiden. But one thing is certain, the same bad actors, acting in bad faith show up in every thread about him to spew something negative and pretend to be objective about their analysis.
We have a strong sense of national pride, not flag-waving, chest-beating patriotism, but a desire to go up against the best in the world to show what we can do. To us, representing your country is the highest honour and the pinnacle of the sport. Declining that opportunity without an obvious valid reason is something that most Aussies struggle to comprehend.
MXoN is about stripping away the bullshit, the money, the politics and everything else and finding out who is the best. When the money excuse starts being thrown about it really is grating. What’s even worse is “we’ll only go if we think we can win”. Either or both of those statements suggest to me that as a professional athlete the rider has lost sight of what he’s actually doing for a living.
I know this discussion comes up every year so let’s bookmark this and any others, and revisit them in 2026 (or whenever the MXoN is at Ironman). Wonder how many US riders will be unavailable then?
Why didn’t you guys go in 2021?
And why did Chad skip a bunch? Aussie pride ?
Same reason USA didn't go in '21, covid.
I'd be interested to know more about people spewing something negative while pretending to be objective about their analysis?
In the vast majority of commentary concerning Haiden the negative comments are appropriate to what he does.
Examples:
Comment: Haiden's patriotism is phoney. Action: Deegan waved an American flag and leaned heavily into the patriotic American schtick then didn't go to MXDN, and looks like he won't again.
Comment: Haiden is an entitled little prick. Action: Numerous examples of him disrespecting other riders and makind stupid scripted comments on the podium.
There's nothing insane about the commentary about Deegan. It would be a 'drop off (of) reason in a sea of insanity' if, for example, someone said Hymas is an entitled little prick when there is clearly absolutely nothing to base that on.
Excellent response. I would add - and this is just my view but I also suspect the view of a lot of Brits, Aussies, and Kiwis - that the US is extremely patriotic in a very public way. Examples include students pledging allegiance to the flag in classrooms, putting your hands on your hearts during national anthems, having military appreciation days, having American flags in nearly every yard and so on. Therefore, we would expect Americans to also be extremely keen on representing their country in sport. When riders - all who are highly paid professionals - don't want to go to MXDN we rightly think WTF?
Aussies, Brits, and Kiwis love representing their countries - all while dialing down the public displays of patriotism.
Fat Reed is all but an American at this point - have you heard him speak? And he's also a bit of a prick and pretty lazy at times - so not the best example.
Agree reed was one who skipped it a lot , Coppins and Townley went everytime they could , a lot of the time spending their own money , the Lawrence’s seem more to be in that mould , it means something to them to go represent their country
Pit Row
I was gonna say, skipped? More like not selected..
SX only, made a point to mention at Latvia that he hadn't done any training or practice before the event
And for a injury that the Deegan camp denies happened.
2021 - local riders weren’t allowed out of the country.
I think Reed did MXoN in 2000 and the cobbled together one they did in 2002. Not sure why he missed ‘03 and ‘04 (maybe some injuries) but I recall the sentiment was that by the mid-2000’s he was “over” motocross and was really just focussing on SX. As a fan it sucked because he was a much better MX racer than his career results showed.
He then did 2007 to 2009, missed 2010 (injury) and raced again in 2011 where he won the first moto, and was there again in 2014 (I’m guessing he missed 2012 and 2013 through injury). In all Reedy did 7 MXoN’s as far as I can tell which is right up there on the list for modern era riders.
You're clearly a fan of Haiden which is fine so why don't you catch up.
Chad is literally helping him right now.
He's captain america every 4th though. Believe the Hype.😁
its bad to claim you are the fastest 250 racer in the world.........when you keep running away from half of it !!!!!!!!
for me this metal plates in the wrist is fake, just the excuse they remembered to use at the time, using the injury that he had.......i dont belive anything they say or post, there is always an agenda behind it.........
its easy to stop all the bitchin about Deegan not racing for USA.......show the scar to put the metal in, come clean with it......i bet every american will understand the flag waiving and not racing........
I had zero issues with CC going last year. In fact he may have saved the whole effort. He seemingly IMHO gave one of his best efforts for the year. I have been saying for the better part of 2 years his riding looks like he wants nothing to do with racing the top guys here. He did surprisingly put in a good effort the last couple weeks. I wonder if in the words of Bubba Stew if it was a “business decision”?
He was not injured in 03 and 04, he won the US Open those years which was like a week apart from the MXdN. Can’t really count 07 because that was in America and apparently “easy” to sign up for if you live here.
So if Deegan ends up doing less than 50% of his possible MXdN’s like Chad, we are good?
All I’m saying is your little speech above wasn’t fully accurate. (Worth noting I don’t believe any Americans were upset the years Chad bailed)
Aussies not claiming Reed. Now that's a first.
You think the Lawrence's are going to move back?
Massive audience? There were over a million people watching Washougal last weekend, I highly doubt MXON gets that kind of viewership with the way they broadcast it atleast here in the states.
Vialle also wiped the floor with Hunter last year after being a minute down on him in most motos all summer.
Hey leave me out of this!
