Coldenhoff also won at mxdn twice I believe right? For whatever reason hes a beast at that race. With herlings back up to speed, dewolf, and coldenhoff that could be a damn good team.
Whoops, nevermind.
He has dual citizenship. South African/Netherlands.
Vlaanderen was on the wining Netherlands team in 19.
It will interesting to see who they choose. Him or Coldenhoff.
I was going to say this exact same thing. For patriotic reasons, I would LOVE to have AP there. However, when they were picking the team for MXoN at Redbud a couple years ago, there was huge doubts over sending Justin Cooper, that was almost unanimous, but Justin stepped up huge in that race, his 2nd race 4th OA may have been what brought home the win for Team USA that day, and also "won" the 250 class. He definitely proved that he can rise to the occasion, get good starts, and keep it off the ground. Consistency and speed counts so much at that event, and he can do it.

Yea I have to agree with this. Cooper is a beast at starts and I think it matters even more at the nations than any other race.
With it being in the UK in October, there is a pretty good chance of it being a mudder.
If things really got desperate…. Sexton Deegan Hymas would be a great team.
also let’s not forgot Christian craig on a 250. He’s a good guy. He really deserves it.
Couldn’t pick a worse team than we did last year
Sexton - Deegan - JCoop
Cooper will start so much better than Plessinger at that event... Can't give up that top 3 start.
And Deegan has the potential to pull off a top 5 moto finish with a good start like Cooper did in 2022 on the 250.
4 teams in it for the win if they send their top teams, FRA - NED - AUS and USA.
98% chance it will be a murder. Sexton, deegan, AP. (Tomac) If he comes back and instantly close to AP/Cooper.
Let's leave Plessinger out of the DesNations discussions, he has had his shots and failed. Probably a mud race, Sexton, Masterpool, Deegan.
This and only this. His 2018 performance is arguably the worst ever for a top level American rider and last year he had one good moto followed by one horrible moto.
No way in hell should he go.
During the GP’s Malin is always like the South African Vlaanderen and at this one race he is Dutch. The South African federation did something that pissed him off so he jumped ship.
Thanks man. His chance for a good result looks to be better with The Dutch.
Current form, my "Quadrella"
Australia
Netherlands
France
USA
American Honda sent two riders to Ernee last year, and they're likely to be sending at least three riders this year.
Star Yamaha has already said they're in.
So "current form" who is your team for France? Ferrandis, Paturel and Vialle? If Phoenix Honda can't send Ferrandis then who, Desprey or Aranda?
I read his post as "my beloved Aussie brethren and then anybody else other than USA"

Yeah I was ignoring his bias and just focusing on the teams. I don't see France on the podium unless both Febvre and Renaux return from injury and get back up to form. They seem to lack the depth of talent they've had for the past decade or so.
I ranked France 2nd after the Netherlands, but yep that’s dependent on both Febvre and Renaux being back to 100%
I know you didn't ask me, but I think it's a really open ended question... Since it's hard to get recovery updates on these athletes. I would think Febvre would be back. And what is Renaux's status? Without at least one of them, the team is not a podium team.
I have it penciled in as Febvre - Ferrandis - Vialle. No idea if that can happen...
USA Should definitely send Sexton and Deegan. It's a big question mark for the third Imo. You either send J Coop who has proven he can perform at this event every time but then if Tomac is healthy and 100% by that time it makes it a really difficult choice.
Honestly though, regardless of who is sent it is looking like Netherlands will come out on top. Herlings is just getting faster and faster, Vlaanderen is also really picking up the pace, then you have De Wolf who is right now either the fastest 250 rider or at a minimum top 3 in the world.
Also don't forget it's at Matterly Basin so GB can always get a podium there. Anstie has gone 1-1 before and with more time on the star 250 he will only get better throughout the year. Mewse although he hasn't performed well in MXGP this is in the UK so he will likely be able to bring the speed. It will just come down to who the third rider is.
People are also sleeping on Belgium. When Geerts was healthy and only just moved up to a 450, he was very quick at Redbud and surprised a lot of people. So, if he can get back to 100% by this race then he could really do some damage. Then you can either send both Coenen Brothers or Everts. They could get a podium.
My money would be fairly evenly split between the US, AUS and NLD if they all send their best. France could be up there too if their riders are healthy. Webster is the weakest link on any of these teams IMO, so that would knock AUS down just a notch for me. And as a biased American I would rather have Deegan and Cooper over Kay and Calvin so I like the US over NLD assuming Sexton and Herlings are fairly equal. If Belgium sends the Coenens and Everts they could be a sneaky top 5, or have like 8 crashes between the 6 motos and end up 15th
The only reason I say Netherlands is the favourite is because none of the Americans that can be sent have ever ridden at Matterly. Also, your bias is clouding your judgment. Vlaanderen is definitely faster than J Coop, yes J Coop can get very good starts and doesn't crash but Vlaanderen is top 4 in MXGP and close to the speed of Herlings/Gaser/Prado. I do agree about Webster, but he also could surprise all of us a lot. If he manages two top 10 finishes, then I believe AUS will win. France even with healthy riders I just don't see being on the podium. That is quite funny about Belgium because yeah its either they surprise and possible podium or crash every race and don't even make top 10.
Sexton deegs and tomac if he’s healthy and looking good or jcoop. Netherlands is gonna be the favorite this year with herlings de wolf and vlaanderen. France is gonna struggle unless febvre is back, vialle has a hat that fits in with the FFM guidelines and ferrandis can pick up some speed. The Belgian team could be 3rd or last. Italy is going to be very sneaky with guadignini or Forato, bonacorsi and Adamo. Australia is gonna struggle with the third guy. Hard to win with a guy that might get a top 15.
Bingo, I'll never forget him showing up in 2018 dressed like a trailer park Captain America only to ride like complete dogshit and cost us any chance of victory
AP can keep his skullet and fake country accent at home, give me Tomac or JCoop over him all day.
So, these assumptions are based on Herlings staying healthy all the way through MXdN?
And that's 3 months away?
Ooookaaayyyy...
MXdN is going to be awesome this year!
I hope Tomac is good to go. Tomac, Sexton, Deegan will be hard to beat.
I'm looking forward to epic battles!
