I’ve been to every Supercross across the USA since 1989. I’m a first timer Motocross National attendee this weekend for Red Bud. How much time do you avid outdoor National fans think I will spend in the VIP section? Is getting there at 6:30 a.m. a must?

I have never done the VIP, but IMO camping or in an RV at the track is a must and getting up at sunrise to take chairs a cooler to the hill under the large tree by the sand rollers is required......but if you have VIP you won't need that.  Then you have breakfast at your RV and hearing bikes fire up early and the atmosphere begin to grow and fans arrive etc.  Would not be the same in a hotel and driving to the track

For $920 bucks I’d get every second and every morsel of “VIP” allowed.

Amen to that.

My buddy and I spent a long weekend at Budds in the mid-90's and I didn't spend $50 total for tickets, camping in the truck on site and entry fee. Of course, camping at the track back then meant sleeping in the back of the truck (with a topper) and using a bag/solar shower (or the freezing ones in the bath house), but man, it's nuts how much they squeeze nowadays.

The VIP is very nice and you will enjoy it. 6:30 is not necessary, but maybe 7:30 as practice is about 8ish

I did the first three this year. I camped at the events… never saw the first round of qualifiers. Had breakfast took care of the dogs and got rolling when my body told me too.

if you’re hardcore get there as early as you can and enjoy every moment of it though!

You haven’t raced 10 times in the last 20 years. That $750 riding budget will last you the rest of your life.

I always shoot for arriving at the track at 7am and can usually part in a good spot and walk right in. VIP area has shade drinks and a good viewing area. This was at Red Bud MXoN on top of the hill. Not sure how nice the National VIP compares

If I was going to sit in an air conditioned room and watch the race on tv, I’d save a ton of money and throw a ribeye on the grill and watch from my couch.  I don’t understand the VIP experience at an outdoor national.
A Supercross suite, yes.  You get all the comforts, plus a great live view of the action.  I suppose you could leave the national VIP room and walk around the track during the motos to watch the races, but if you did that, why pay $300 a pop for the VIP experience?

Well, let’s use 1995 as a “mid 90s” year…

Here we are 29 years later…

Im thinking tickets are acting cheaper in “real dollars” now th a they were then.

Comparatively, have you been to a concert lately? Decent tickets to a band the Red Hot Chili Peppers(2022 tour)…if you get the Early Booking Opportunity thru AmEx (tix are usually a little cheaper this way) $250 per seat.

Then there’s this…

A dollar in 1995 is worth 49 cents, today.

So, when it comes to ticket prices? It think our sport is a bargain.

I’m jus’ sayin’…

$920? Is this brought to us by the same fine folks who get people to pay $1200 to race LL?

Do they also charge a fee to sit on those fancy white chairs in Lumpys post above? Shocked

Hey Manny, hope you had a great 4th!

Did you catch the part where I said the $50 covered the weekend pass (with on-site camping in our truck - arrived Friday, left Sunday night) and race entry fee?

Granted, I didn't race the big show, so there's that to be considered.Grinning

And despite my name, I'm not stupid enough to give people that much money to see a concert! I'd rather go riding!Woohoo

That’s why I posted, The Weekend Pass is the same value as it was back in the day.

You will have fun. I did one last year at Pala. It was a good experience to do it once.  The tent we were in was not the one Lumpy got to sit in - it was a large canvas with 25 or so tables. Food was good, had TVs if you wanted to watch. We got out and watched the races from different spots and went back for food and drink.  Yes to getting there early. And make sure you get in the pits - looking at those bikes is awesome. And if you like getting autographs you can do that too - just be prepared to wait in line. Have a great time.

It was  $1000 to sit in those VIP chairs at the MXoN. I made that splurge for VIP parking right at the track entrance and short walk over with a cain because of the total knee replacement.

Not sure which tix that requires…still…my point…

Compared to what we pay for other entertainment, our sport kicks ass for the price.

Even when I was buying SX tix for friends and family at Anaheim, SF & Denver…I noticed how much less I was paying for a whole day of entertainment compared to other events like concerts…football games (TOTAL INSANITY)…then there’s what people pay for Disney…etc.

Btw, an RCP concert is still an awesome event. It’s one of the few ways, besides an SX race…that you can get me to go to The City! Laughing

1 Adult General Admission ticket for Saturday is $85.99.  Not sure if you pay the Processing Fee and Service Charge if you buy at the gate, but that's the only price I see, so that's what I'll use:

That $86 ticket would be $42 in 1995 dollars.  I want to say a ticket was $20 or $25 in 1995, but I don't really remember.
