Was Colby Raha robbed of his 4th consecutive X Games Gold Medal? I need a comparison to Creed’s jump other than the line. Just saying the line was off is not a good look. Worst case scenario my tin foil hat says the industry couldn’t let the Stark Varg win. Not saying I actually believe that but it’s just a fun theory, the reality is the optics of this are bad.

I saw that too but I think that graphic was mislabeled for Creeds first jump that was approximately 51'. I'm sure it was just a broadcast mistake and not a mistake with the technology.
First post, welcome to Vital
What kind of deepfake is that?
That's not a deepfake, totally legit. I'm sure you can watch the replay somewhere. They are getting huge air.

I was questioning that also, yes I need glasses to see clearly, but my eyes didn't fool me when seeing colby's tire a little above creed's height. Seeing the wrong score for him was weird. I wonder what other electric bike people got screwed in a sort of way in the other competitions.
I'm sure if it's in question or in protest they have overlays of the jumps to show the max height. Watching it live earlier we all saw the image above and thought he won, but then the height was published and it was lower than Creed's jump. So either a mistake was made on the broadcast graphic or there really was a mistake on the final marker and they'll get it sorted out with replays.
I watched the video on youtube and the height number didn't increase.
hmm
Yes keep in mind he was like 2 feet shorter they said not even close. Yet in the graphic he was above the supposed line. Needless to say when the result came out there was no mention from the broadcast of the line again. Maybe there’s a transponder and it’s in the same spot on each bike and they weren’t measuring the highest point of the bike, or the line was off or he just got robbed. It seems like one of those 3 things.
That is a solid theory that would make sense. Add it to the list of possibilities because we’ll never know.
Yeah
I don't know how they measure the height but it seems to me that the lines are quite inaccurate, just here to guide viewers. They've appeared off for a number of jumps, for instance check out Navas 4th jump at the 28 min mark.
Regardless, I don't think X games have anything against ebikes, Pat Evans did strike gold on the Stark Varg.
I don’t think X Games attracts enough attention for OEM’s to want to put pressure on the promoters to not let an e bike win.
IF Cameron Steele said it was 53' 7", by god it's 53' 7".
Phil Hodges must have been on the voting team. Watching that video I don’t understand how Raha didn’t win gold. He absolutely launched that
I'm in the minority, I guess. I thought Creed was quite a bit higher and the graphic was wrong
It’s based off the lowest point of the bike
Pit Row
It wasn’t an actually theory it was just having fun and trying to make sense of the graphic
Holy shit that whip by Pat Evans..... wow.
I know, bad joke.
As hard as the X games broadcast tried to hype the E bike during both best whip and quarter pipe you can take your tin foil hat off and accept that Raha got beat straight up and should have used his regular bike instead.
the winning jump was in the air for what seemed like a minute and had to be higher.. watching the slow-mo of him panicking trying to find the rear brake was terrifying!
I watched the whole contest, they only used that graphic with the lines and measurements a couple times, and I think in round 2 or 3 they over laid the top 3 riders and Raha appeared lower in the graphic but was given a higher measurement. So I do not think that particular graphic was the official measurement, I do not recall them explaining how they make the official measurement. They also used different camera angles for every run so it was very hard to judge.
It does suck, they used to do a good job with the X-games.
For as long as Xgames has been doing best whip and high air it baffles me as to how bad the filming is. Most of the camera angles zoom in on the rider in the air so you get no orientation of how high they are or how much they are whipping the bike. Please espn, static camera with ground in view.
As far as the height, idk why they can't just tell us on the broadcast how it is measured. Is it from the ground, the top of the lip, top of the landing? How do they measure the height? Static camera, transponder? The announcers kept talking about a transponder placement on the bike like it was some mystery, that would make the placement pretty important and these guys may be able to do different types of jump/whip to gain some height with the transponder without actually going any faster/higher. For how much money is put into the Xgames the broadcast sucks, I feel bad for the announcers because you can clearly tell they are being held back by the terrible production.
No one was going to out jump Creed yesterday. He showed up to win.
He was unbelievable, along with the Spanish rider who'd just go straight up and arc it back down. doesn't seem real.
Didn’t even know x games started this weekend still it was over.
That was wild!
Right. Vicki Golden was in the booth and commented how Raha had a different technique because of the E bike.
