Southwick is probably on the lowest spectrum of being considered a "sand track". Grantsburg, WI is about 2-3ft deep of soft sand and NO hard base. I always wished they could make Grantsburg wider and host a National. But the place is just too small and would need a lot of improvement. They could move it down the road with bigger hills and it would be awesome.

What track is that? I live just south of Monroe, Wi.

What ever happened to Kyle Regal and his intense stepdad??

I know Kyle moved back to Michigan somewhere. I assume the family all went back. Can't say for sure if his stepdad is there, but they did sell the 90 or so acres of Underground MX they originally started, many years back, so I'd assume they all returned.

31 race weekends is a grind, the nerve of them taking a week off, on an off weekend.

If my memory serves me correctly, Deegan’s downfall last year was from too much riding leading up to the moto’s. Once you are fatigued on that track, your form is comprised and you look like a shit show. I’m sure he’ll check himself this year and not come to the gate tired.
For all you dummies that think it’s not a sand track, wake up. It becomes brutally rough, to the point of exhaustion, no matter how fit you are.
When they would leave the bumps from the previous weeks race for the Nat, it was so insanely rough to start the day that I did not even go out for the first practice session, just to save energy. My day was a 16-14.

Does anyone remember when Mike Alessi would race amateur day in A class before the real national in 2005?

I hope so too.

FWIW. Jo was at Fox on Friday 6/21/24 putting in 30’s on a fairly warm day. So what if he filmed some whips a couple days earlier during an off week, which I’m sure some 30’s went down as well on said.  Things aren’t always what they seem…

My office job and a competitive sport are not the same. If Levi is out working on a swing and Deegs is burning motos at the wick, not only does he have an upper hand physically but now Levi knows Deegan was there. That is the genius of this move more than anything.

There's also 24 hours in a day, just because Jo and Levi didn't post their morning workout and pounding out motos doesn't mean it didn't happen. I laid down and did nothing for about an hour this evening, doesn't mean I wasn't already sweating my ass off at 5am at work this morning.

Well, they definitely weren’t at Southwick

You think star is going to rent it and just let PC show up 😂😂

No, but why didn’t PC rent it?

No, but why didn’t PC rent it?

Because they don't have Haiden Deegan, title favorite, who was noticeably much worse at Southwick last year than any other track, and Max Anstie, new rider to the bike who may have a legit shot at winning his first race on the bike at Southwick, keeping title contender Vialle from gaining points on Deegan.

Got to meet DNGR the other day. Cool as a cucumber and plenty of chutzpah. Big fan here. 🇺🇸

The Wick isn’t a sand track. It has a sandier surface than most but it’s not a sand track. Sand moves around under the bike differently and takes a different technique as a rider and I don’t think Southwick fits into that category the same. Anstie might do well because it’s an easier version of a sand track but to be honest I think he will just treat it like any other US national track

You've never ridden there, have you?

I've been doing that now for one 20+2 moto on hard pack Woohoo

EVEN BETTER, in the mid 1990's Southwick did NOT groom the track after the NESC Prequel race.  The first lap of practice the whole track was whooped out.  IT WAS TOUGH, BUT AMAZING !!!!!      Now, it's often a speedway for the B Group 250cc riders if they go first.

Yes - the AMA rulebook was amended just for him

"Any rider who is entered, or may enter, an event is prohibited from participating in any activities on the racetrack (including open practice or racing) within five (5) days prior to the event, unless authorized by AMA Pro Racing"

I do not have the advantage of having ridden there no. What I do have is 30 years experience living in Europe and riding sand tracks, and also two eyes. If I’m not qualified to comment then I apologize and we shall call southwick a sand track just because the people that have ridden it say so

Looks like it was well worth the time and effort. Other teams should think about putting in that level of work.

Looks like Deegans arrogant attitude has worn off on the star manager Jensen. Lars interview was professional then that guys interview making a jab at all the other teams not being at Southwick was unprofessional from a team manager.
