Why can’t guys just say we found a good setting with suspension or frame or mapping, whatever it is..
it’s not like another manufacturer will be like “oh wow maybe we should try new suspension”
when people say “we found something this week” they might as well not say anything, as a fan I’d love to know what weaknesses they worked on..

It's right up there with the "I was talking to..." Shrill stupidity.
I don't really get the secrecy either but in a recent Barcia interview he said something along the lines of "I'm not sure if I am allowed to say this but we moved the motor forward.."
At this point I do not believe that they are worrying about a competitive advantage but more of a sales concern from the manufacturers. People probably hear that and some will think, "we shouldn't buy the GasGas because you have to rotate the motor in the frame to make it good".
Similar to when everyone got on the frame stiffness kick for the KTMs there for a year or two. "I can feel the frame flex, the new one is 10% stiffer"
Maybe they found pump gas worked better than fuel from their team sponsor?

They don't specify what they found because they didn't really find anything. They are hoping that the statement brings positive momentum to themselves and puts a tiny drop of worry into the competition.
Placebo! and more placebo to equal “things”
honestly they're probably bored by it (no pun).
"yea so like we went up a hair on the rear leverage ratio to get a little bit more progression in the system and we paired that with a bit more highspeed rebound to keep the rear end planted in the fast stuff, also we raised the forks some, and counteracted that a bit with a lower offset triple clamp. yea bro its sick"
How specific would you like ?
Move it forward 1 year move it back 3 years later. If it matters more than 1 second for Joe 6 Pack LMK. And A: He is a Factory Pro and it don't matter beans to anybody but those guys B: It's great marketing hype to leak future improvements
When the Bro Show leaked they had stiffer frames was it a bad move?
It’s all about confidence and the perception of having an edge. If you don’t know this then you’ve probably never raced competitively.

"things"
The longer you are in moto… the more kooked out you become…remember when you first starting riding? Bent bars, sag way off, worn out tires…….was the best feeling ever….like someone once said… Don’t let James change the bike” …..
Some definite truth in this. I have a nicer bike than I would have ever dreamed of, can replace parts without having to save for months, and yet I ride less, and my stoke level is nowhere near that of my 7 year old nephew doing grass track laps around his house on his Honda 50.
I chuckle when McElrath does this. I have probably heard him a handful of times talk about the things they have found out during the week but wont go into any specifics.

Dude, you are on a Suzuki. There is nobody that competes against you that can copy you with the groundbreaking stuff you have figured out
The best days of riding were back in the fields on a JR50, DS80 and XR100.. Those were days of pure bliss out of my 8-11 year old self.
here is another "thing" racers can find during a race weekend
And after all the diagnostics, testing, tweaking they found their best results in the manufacturers stock settings.
Pit Row
Did anyone catch the clip of Tedesco telling Gypsy that he was faster on a stock honda frame vs their factory frame and he begged to use it and they told him no even though his lap times were slower on the factory frame? I suspect a lot of that BS goes on with these factory teams, stock is for us suckers (consumers) and someone's ego is always more important than results.
you love to see it
"Do you want to win or, do you want to lose?" Lackey to the Suzuki big wigs. "We lose." Suzuki.
Yup... never forget that people would rather fail than win with something that isnt their idea. All pro racing is like that, to some degree or other.
A buddy of mine owned a very large dealership in Canada- now retired- big enough to where he’d get invited to Japan for new bike releases etc etc so got to know a lot of the Japanese people at the 4 brands very well . He said whilst they were very nice, friendly, courteous and respectful they were ridiculously prideful - cut off your nose to spite your face levels of pride. Said the Honda guys were the worst .
Racing isn't really about racing. It's RnD, marketing and selling the NEXT bike disguised as racing
That's one part of the industry you very rarely hear about, that being the riders POV when working with factory teams. I'm sure numerous guys have told the factory teams what they need to win (like Ivan) and were told no. Must be very frustrating to know you're faster on something else but told "oh well" Mr. Yamasukikawihonda said this design was better you need to change your riding to fit this we don't fit it to you.
