It is past the middle of June and we still have no information coming from the WSX group concerning a schedule. Riders that had planned on racing WSX are already backing out. For instance, the reigning WSX 250 champion Max Anstie. Read below what Anstie had to say to RacerX:
"I signed to compete in World Supercross this year, but we couldn't get any answers about this year's championship early enough, that’s why I primarily asked for an early release. Last year, we didn't get the expected number of rounds, and there was no clarity on this year's schedule. However, I had an opportunity to race in America this year and potentially participate in the Des Nations and prepare early for next year. I didn't want to jeopardize those opportunities due to the uncertainty surrounding World Supercross at the time. There are still no released dates. The Firepower Honda Team and Honda Australia were very understanding," said Anstie.
As always, Anstie was very professional in this press release. However, reading what he had to say about WSX and its uncertainty is very telling. When one of your defending champions has decided to abandon ship, everyone else should feel the same pressure to jump as well. WSX was a good idea, it was just a bad business model. It tried to progress at a rate that was unsustainable. Instead of making sure all bases were covered, WSX jumped completely into the deep end without regard to properly setting themselves up to be successful.
Instead of leaving riders out there hanging; waiting for a concrete 2024 schedule, WSX simply needs to pull the plug. At least for now. Pay the people they owe, and release the teams and riders of any and all contracts. WSX should take a step back for now, then try and come back later. They should re-organize and cross every T and dot every I, then and only then make another play at presenting Supercross globally.
Counterpoint: WSX isn't going to pull the plug because people on Vital say so. If there's a chance of even one race happening and some money to be made, the promoters will try like hell to get something going. Whether they actually pull it off is a different story altogether. I personally wouldn't bet on it.

Although pulling a plus in the water might not be the best idea.
my only question, and one I will be asking it in every WSX thread until I get a satisfactory answer.
What time does Vince Friese race?

Why didn't they include current successful off season races in the schedule? Or go to places that had successful supercrosses, like Toronto or Paris? Dumb question.....
Paris doesn't need them, so why pay the fee and split the profits? They tried, but they said no.
Toronto. I know that the stadium was under renovation, but I don't know if that's completed or not.
Absolutely laughable.
Countries available:-195
Countries used-3
Just stop..Just fucking stop.
Leave my sport alone.
why are so many people seemingly hating on WSX? the more races we can watch, the more races that pay these riders risking it all, the better. dont you get tired of watching the same riders? i like to watch the guys in the back of the pack. theyll do shit that is impressive, even in 25th place. but the tv cameras show only the top 3 it gets super boring. they wanna show the "battle". but watching jett behind hunter for 15 minutes straight aint exciting to me. In wsx we got to see some different riders shine.
Had high hopes for this when we first heard about it those few years ago...
Not to take away from the US series, just so there's more racing and for those of us not in America to see good live supercross racing.
This is incredibly disappointing. I hope they at least stick to the schedule instead of scrapping rounds as they go, weeks before it's due to take place...
Do you guys really want to see 1 actual Premier class champion battle the usual 15-40 position riders? All while calling it a "World Supercross Championship" with only 3-4 rounds? Give me a break. Not a real Championship at all.
Hell we have more rounds at the Chicken Licks raceway June/July series! And we let quads race too! CL World Championship here we come!
Probably get more viewers too. And a better track than Abu Doobie wherever the hell that is.
Vital : 17 SX races is a grind, we lose too many guys for MX
Also Vital : How can you call 4 races a World SX Championship, what a joke of a series?
Also Vital : When do they announce the 3 race SMX World Championship rounds?
You just can't win here
Because they're selling this as a proper World Championship, while racing at places like Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi that would barely pass for an Arenacross track in the States. Honestly, I think even calling it a 2nd tier series is generous at this point. Paris, Australia, and maybe even India are higher tier than this shitshow.
You do realize that the SMX championship is part of a 31 race series with the last three being playoff rounds....
In retrospect what they should have done is partner with a few of the off season races add a few more to make a worthwhile off season series that many US based riders would have been available to race...instead they came in with both BS barrels blasting claiming that they were going to be the greatest SX series in the world with the best SX racers and 12 races from June to October thinking that every racer based in the US wanted to follow the Justin Brayton plan. They acted like MXGP and US MX didn't exist and pissed off the teams, manufacturers and the fans...They didn't want to be a series where riders could race and make money on extra races they wanted to cripple outdoor MX for their own financial gain...They didn't give a shit about what was best for the sport only what they thought was best for them....hopefully the new owners can figure this out and be an additional series and not a competing one but their social media says otherwise...
It's entertainment, people still love the WWE, just enjoy it for what it is 🤦
Yes, because its not taking away from any other series and its going to be on when there would otherwise be no racing on tv at all. From Oct 12 2024 until jan 3* 2025 there would be no racing at all to watch. Instead well get to watch roczen and a few other guys mix it up overseas in wsx.
As much as ppl (rightfully) complained last year about the cancelled rounds, when it came down to the actual races they were pretty good to watch and definitely entertaining. Idk about everyone else but last year once the smx playoffs were over and the mxon happened I was glad that I had some racing to watch in the off season. That is exactly the niche they should be in and should have done it from the start.
If the options are 0 racing from october to january or watching roczen beat up on a few guys overseas ill take the latter.
And you do realize they give away a SX Championship and MX Championship for the first 28 races, so again its a 3 race series for a SMX World Championship.
Pit Row
The NFL gives away AFC and NFC Championships, yet somehow the Superbowl is the most-watched game on the schedule. Try again.
LOL, not even close to the same thing, but good try.
NFL gives away the Lombardi for a 3-4 week run. It's actually a good comparison.
and 'playoffs' in moto are probably actually more accurate in determining who's the best because you are competing against everyone. Playoffs in the big 3 sports pit 2 teams against each other and either team can have it be there day regardless of if they are better on paper or on record.
Just change the name and problem solved. Nothing wrong with guys making extra money that time of year.
But please stop with calling it the world sx series.
I'm just laughing that they are going to "bring supercross to the world where people want it" and one of their rounds is as close to America as they can get.
Seems like that one they are hoping a bunch of folks who already have access to Live Supercross will attend.
This is right. It’s understandable if the world’s too SX racers sit this out, they had a long season and deserve some rest. But this provides not only a great opportunity for the less-fast to earn some coin and trophies, but it expands the sport to people who haven’t seen it live before… even if the tracks are small, it’s still dirt bike racing.
I went and looked to see where it was in Canada to attend. If it was on the East side I might drive up but not going West.
Last year I looked where it was in Australia but 24 hours of flying killed the thought of going.
to me to be a world championship it has to be held in more than 1 country.
Expanding it to Vancouver BC where there has already been AMA uspercross? Only a couple hours drive from where the AMA has been holding a Supercross for decades.
I'm liking what I see in this series https://indiansupercrossleague.com/
When was there a AMA Supercross in Vancouver? Only AMA SX I am aware of was held in eastern Toronto Canada.
2006 I think.
