I've ridden KTM for years and the fit and finish is exceptional.  As far as ergo's I'll know more when I ride the bike. Just bolted up the Akro and it fit perfect. Now to wash my hands before I put on the plastic Whistling

I am curious about the exhaust note with both the Akro and the stocker, because in the tests with the stocker, it sounds awesome.

Please let us know.

Fusion does my graphics and there isn't a link yet to the templates.

Also a set of torx T Handles would be nice.

I can knock out a set of plates for you while you wait on Fusion.  Feel free to email me at paul@armoredgraphics.com. I have a complete template.  Just offering, and congrats on the new ride👍

Yes, that was me and my CZ in 1975. I raced the Junior Pokal Series 73 - 74 - 75. Awesome experience. All this while in the Army, What I did was find a Program for soldiers who wanted to participate in German Sports. On my own without the company commander knowing, (frankly I was so excited that I didn't even think to ask or tell him) I applied to USAEUR in Heidelbeg and got accepted. Orders were issued and I was able to leave post any time I wanted. The company commander was pretty jacked and he never got over it....oh well such is life

The first ride is history! It’s a great bike for sure. As for a detailed ride report, that will be in a few weeks as the suspension needs some break in time to get a good feel. It is geared 13-48 thus and requires an aggressive rider to get it to preform IMO. At 73, I’m not going to be that aggressive😊

Thus I just ordered a 49T & 50T. I need to be able to roll and accelerate in 3rd in higher speed corners. 3rd currently is to tall. I rode the 50 Intermediate class where I just rode to get the bike broke and used to it. I was able to jump through the Washougal woops (be it a little sloppy) and I can clean that up easily.

The sprockets should be here tomorrow from Rocky Mtn, I was surprised that they were already in their search. I called JT Racing in Georgia 1st and they sent me to Rocky Mtn. Thursday I’ll got to another local track (Albany) with the new gearing.

Just don't forget to torque the sprocket bolts. You'll thank us later.

I remove them, loctite and torque to spec then add a torque stripe. Torquing them without reapplying loctite scares me.

Was nice chatting with you & the other fellas on the gate in the Warrior class.
It was great to see a Triumph in person and I thought it looked great.

(I'm Chris, was riding the GasGas, #31 in Warrior & 40+).

Surprised theres not been any talk about the dealer base and the system used to track down parts. All inventory online and easy to get stuff no matter what dealer has it. Rep in Daytona explained it and it sounds awesome.

Beautiful bike and I'm impressed with Triumph so far.  I do wish they had done British Racing Green instead of black though.

I use moly-fortified grey grease, it's required on some auto's for wheel bearing warranty so I figured it's good stuff.

I'll race the 50 Intermediate (there is no 70+ class) and the Military Class. The Military Class races for free - pretty cool that Washougal does this!!

Thanks for your service to our country, sir.

Not to take away from a great thread, but who in the moto community is a big enough ass clown to down vote someone thanking a vet? Seriously. Whoever you are, pound sand!

It’s not fully optimized yet. Wanted to grab an air filter, spare levers, and an oil filter (as I’m unsure if the KN cross reference until I pull the filter out, in which case I want a replacement) and it only showed a dealer in Kentucky and Tennessee has them available to order, but not in stock. Called the dealer I purchased from and they had everything I needed short of a clutch lever, yet they never popped up on at all. It’s a fantastic idea but needs some time to work correctly

This is an awesome post Tim, I know you've been around a long time and seem like one of the good guys.

Great story about your time in Germany in being able to ride. Beautiful bike and can't think of a better place then breaking it in at Washougal.

I've been lucky enough to race there a few times and it's an amazing facility and track.

I'll be 66 in a few months. I guess I can't complain about being old anymore! Laughing

Oh and looking at the bike, I can tell it needs different type engine mounts and a new GET Ignition. Smile

I let him race my YZ 134 (once) at the Mtn View Track and he won the 125 Exhibition Class and several 100$ on it and it was setup for an old manLaughing

Triumph update….have 5 or so hours on the bike, and decided that I needed lighter springs. Actually knew that on the 1st ride, however I put some hours on it to get it broke in.

I’m 145 # in the Kings Clothing and this bike is sprung for 165 to 185 # + - (with gear ??? - it is never stated, but it would be the assumption)  So I was at the lower end and not a real aggressive rider at 73 years young. There is no OEM springs available, however the local Factory Connection Shop fixed me up. No valving this go around, just the next lighter springs.

I’ve got to say that this the best thought out bike I’ve ever owned. The fit and finish is extremely well presented!

The shock removal did not require the subframe to be removed!!  Sweet…….

Off with the silencer, drop the all the linkage (all nuts are the same size – the remove with not effort of chain/other interference)  At first the top shock pivot bolt appeared to be obstructed by the top of the air box, nope it clear as it had a flat side. Putting the bolt back was a breeze as I used a small extendable magnet!

Since the forks were off, I lubed the steering head bearing (not) as there was the most grease in the bearings I’ve ever seen! It appeared to have been pushed in with a greasing device.

I’ve been on a 2 stroke most of my riding years, and did 4 strokes for a few recent years, thus I’m not a fan of engine braking. On previous 4T’s I installed the Rekluce Radius CX and set the springs so that the bike would roll the corner nicely. Plus it was a safety device for an ole man against stalling.

I doubt that one of those will be available anytime soon. I’m researching having the ECU modified to minimize the engine breaking. That also will not happen anytime soon as the top dogs in that area have no information available yet. This is after several email and phone call exchanges with TS - XPR and others including Athena.

The bike is going to sit for a week or so, as the Blu Crew is at Washougal next weekend and I’ll be there on my YZ134.

I will ask the Triumph crew about “deceleration” settings for you. In the meantime, if you turn the idle up very, very slightly…ever so slightly…it helps a bit.

Have you tried all the maps for their various advantages/disadvantages?

Apologies for all the “like” spam Tim. Been dying to see more detailed photos of this thing. I stared at the bike for far too long at Lakewood last week, I think the mechanics were starting to get freaked out 😂

I just stumbled onto this thread...  ...great bike and manufacturer.

My father bought three (3) Triumph road bikes at the same time back in the late sixties.
1968 models; two (2) Bonneville 650s and one 500 Daytona (I think those were the names).
The 500 was mine (as he told me at the time, but I was too small to ride it).
He sold them after a few years...

I did not reply to this thread to tell you about the 1968 Triumphs, but this...

Did you race back in the seventies at the MX track that was at the Rhein Main airport (USAF)?
(across from Frankfurt International Airport)

I was racing in Germany during that same time period that you were on a Maico MC125 and 450 (1973 models).
I was still in High School at the time (Frankfurt American High School).
