Loved every aspect of that interview. His simple yet refreshing view on life is amazing. Laugh, learn, hold yourself accountable, take time and work hard, family unit etc.

Great listen

Your quote has been my explanation at every school since Dazza discussed the left foot with me for 4 months when Hunter turned 10yr old and look where they are now and every student knows it.

I think one of there best parts was sharing that Hunter developed Jett and that's why Jett is better.....and he gives a lot of credit to Hunter for this.  Hunter basically paved the way for Jett and all the learning was applied to Jett from the beginning.  It truly feels like the "family" goals are real here and I don't think we will see a division between the two.

As a family therapist I was moved by him apologizing to Hunter in that story. Most kids never hear apologies from parents.

😀every student has heard that in my," easier for little bro story"

I watched this recent interview with Old Mate a couple of months ago (just found a part 2 searching for it now).

It goes for an hour and I just found it so interesting with his knowledge and ability to articulate that the interview was over before I knew it.  Really great stuff.  You're one of the greats Mossy!!!

And yeah also ripper interview with Dazzy.

I’m honestly a little disappointed in you guys. I saw a great opportunity to set a record in down votes and test your guys roasting skills but neither came to fruition. 😂

I finally watched the interview. Was very good. A lot of people don’t like seeing dominance for a long time but I actually enjoy it. Plus it sets up for that OMG moment when they finally get dethroned like when RC did it to MC. I’ll be shocked if Jett doesn’t beat all the records with the people he has in his corner.

my only fear with the overall wins record and overall titles is Outdoors. All the money being dumped in SX and SMX is seeing these guys very quick to miss outdoor rounds because they know they will have a top 10 seed for SMX. Hopefully Jett has his eyes on RCs outdoor records too.

What an amazing interview. You couldn’t have better guys asking the questions. JB and Weege carried it well. I could listen to an hour long interview of Dazzy. So much insight and it is so refreshing to hear someone be what used to be normal. Holding your kids accountable and teaching them lessons even when they think they have made it is awesome.  Total stud Dad.

It will be interesting to see if the next generation of riders has this ground up, holistic approach to developing them into a great rider.  It’s easy to emulate the “on the bike” stuff like body position etc but I wonder how many will truly understand that is only the end product of all that came before it.

Many times in my working career I saw organisations trying to improve by emulating the practices and behaviours of other highly successful organisations.  They would cherry pick what they could see on the surface but very few would take the time to understand that those observable elements were the end result of years or decades of hard work, the right culture, finding out what works and what doesn’t, learning from failures etc.

Every parent should Listen to this intereview on their way to a Loretta Lynns qualifier, I think it would improve more their kids results than spending money on fully modified minibikes or big trailer son thinking Jr is the next RC, instead of helping the Jr improve and be the next RC, Dazzy aproach is simple, he never thought Jett was the next RC, but he damn sure worked, listened and learn, and gave Jett the tools to BECOME a great rider.

The reality is that the Lawrence way takes hard work, tough decisions, willingness to listen and learn.  Much easier to stroke a cheque for the gear and hope for the best.

I think the part that really struck me about how he raised them is that if things HADN’T worked out in professional racing, those boys would still have taken away the important lessons about work, learning from mistakes, and accountability and been able to apply them to any other path they wanted. And that, folks, is what  parents should actually be trying to get out of their kids sports. Well done!

In a world full of psycho mini parents, be a Dazzy!

I just cant comprehend the gamble that family took. It paid off massively obviously. But that was one hell of a long shot for those boys to make a living in the sport.

Jett will likely be one of the highest earning racers ever. Hunter would be making good money too. But holy shit that takes a huge set of balls and a lot of faith to do.

Cant believe how generous some people were along the way. Kennys dad is a fucking legend. Its so wild to think a father of one of his competitors (now atleast) was so helpful to the boys careers.

Father Dazzywas very smart to have Ken Roczen's father and Stefan Everts father train his boys, pretty good foundation Smile

Jett's half way there to matching RC's perfect seasons!

Two most important takeaways-

1) They neighbored the Irwin Zoo and know the family

2) America is the best place on Earth to live- confirmed

Great interview.  More of a fan now than I was before the interview of both he and his sons.

Love the progression forward, learning and not repeating mistakes. We have seen so many one step forward and 2 steps backwards with so many guys. Their whole program is impressive all the way across

Well here goes. I found him annoying.  Talks too much. All he said was common sense stuff. It amazes me people can listen to an interview and then think that person is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I somewhat agree and understand. To the normal guy, it’s common sense.
But I think what makes Dazzy different.. is that when you compare him to the typical moto dads or the fathers who have been in the sport.. it really is a very different out look.

a far majority of fathers in our sport think they deserve everything, are the best already and there’s never accountability.
Look at how many great riders have missed out on factory seats because of parent’s attitudes and the kids entitlements.

then two have 2 sons at the top of our sport. And still having this mentality banged into their heads.. that’s what’s impressive

What’s always in the back of my mind is how much this can be practiced and rehearsed.

I don’t doubt any of what he said or don’t not believe him. However, once you hit it big time, like they have a few years ago, it’s easy to brainstorm and train your PR skills to say all the right things.

I highly doubt that he has never had a mini dad moto fit or done something he regrets or has gone against his own words in this interview. I prefer to take everything with a grain of salt. Dazzy sounds like a good man with a good work ethic and a lot teach his boys. But I’m not gonna sit here and gargle like most these guys do. It was a good interview. But I doubt he’s Saint mini dad like you guys are acting.

Compare it with the podcast 6 months ago or so with Mumford’ dad (edit)
That was a hard listen and a real eye opener for me in all the wrong ways. I ended up being disgusted in him

Maybe....maybe not.

From the outside looking in I haven't seen anything that would contradict what he said though.  If you take away the fact that folks have "Jett fatigue" from the broadcasts.....Jett and Hunter seem like damn good kids.

Has he had some meltdowns?  I'd almost guarantee it, sometimes that's what it takes when the stress is high and results put food on the table.

OldMate....you should be damn proud man, that was pretty high praise.

Such a great family. Studying and learning from day 1, nothing changed day in, day out for the 7yrs I did with them. I have a few similar families now but not quite exact, brothers and sisters with other interests for example but I have given my Lawrence’s listen talk since Hunter was 11(2 yrs after these photo’s) and look where they are now.
