No wheels coming off. Webb is in the place exactly where his talent is. He may have better "racecraft" at this stage of his career but he has to be physically close enough to use it. If Jett gets a good start, what does his racecraft matter if he can't catch up. BUT, and it's a big BUT, if they are close to one another, and they're trading paint, CW2 comes out on top 9 of 10 times. And CW2 can make if very hard to pass IF he's in front of #18. Jett has to pass though because if he gets hung up behind CW, then he has to deal with ET, CS, JA, and who knows else. I think the last 2 races will see some "a bit more than incidental contact".

TM

Have you missed the speed Jett has through whoops or just a regular section when he wants? He has blown by way faster riders than Webb like they were standing still this season.

And passed Webb in heat races without a problem. I have a hard time beliving that Webb kan keep Jett behind him without riding dirty.

It's true - Webb doesn't have Jett speed, doesn't mean he's out.  I do not think Webb has ever been the fastest man in a 450 series, BUT - he has 2 championships.

2019 I think he was for sure. He passed all the top guys for a few wins and had the most wins on the year I believe. 2021 I’d say it’s hard to argue against it. He ran down Roczen many times for the win and Tomac was super inconsistent. I don’t think it’s fair to only judge Tomac on the races he was “on” at and ignore the others.

Cooper better be making friends with Chase. He's the only shot at pressuring Jett into a mistake.

I think Jett would let Chase go as long as Webb is behind him. He'll have enough people putting common sense in his ear for the next couple races. Only a mechanical will stop Jett now.

DV is spot on.  When you take away Webb's super power (those tight inside lines) his night gets much tougher.

If the next two tracks suit him and there's a little chaos...Webb will use his tactics to great advantage.  Yes, Jett is faster but a digger or broken bike don't care how fast you are.Whistling

There's a lot of "grey" between aggressive and "dirty". But I'm sure we'll see contact of one form or another. Earlier in the season, the stakes were for a "win" now the stakes are for the "Cship" Webb is no stranger to contact. Just ask KR.

Only problem is that Jett doesn’t need to beat Webb to close out the title.  Two third place finishes will seal it regardless of where Webb finishes.

EDIT - even a third and a fourth will do it; if they end up tied on points Jett still wins.

The times Webb made contact with Ken, he had allready beaten him by catching him late in the race and then moved him out of the way in the last corner to seal the deal.

Webb won’t be near Jett the last lap in a normal race, and if he start to pull something like that off early in the race, he don’t have the speed to get away from Jett, unless he put him to the ground. And i don’t see that happening.

He never did that to Ken or Tomac, and Webb seems to have a lot of respect for the Lawrence family.

Ken and Webb had beef, that was a whole different case.

You're right, it is a big but. Jett blows by Webb like he's standing still. When are they going to trade paint?

The real question for this thread should be, is Webb going to cry at the end if these final races also or did he get all his tears out this round?

My guess is that he'll continue to cry like the gritty guy he is. He got that dog* in em.

Well couple of items:

1) Has Webb ever straight up passed Jett?

2) Tracks dictate/limit riders. The whoops hurt Webb and Jett holds his own.

3) Regardless of who wins, the season has been entertaining.

4) Based off his picture, looks like DV is losing some weight (Tuning up for a comeback?) or maybe he trimmed the beard?

Yes, Webb has passed Jett a couple times: A1 in their heat race, Webb passed Jett in turn 2 and then won the heat race.

And I believe he passed Jett at round 1 of SMX in Race 1.

If Webb wanted this championship bad enough, he would've t-boned Jett in the first turn where he had plenty of space and the position to do so.

Jett's not going to hand this title over at this point. You have to take it from him.

Webb is such an important character of the series. His tenacity, grit and determination are on par with anyone ever. He makes the series more entertaining.

I'm a fan.

Everyone is always going on about Webb's grit... You mean the guy who had to take the summer of '22 off to go ride trail bikes...

Everyone is always going on about Webb's grit... You mean the guy who had to take the summer of '22 off to go ride trail bikes because he didn't like his bike?

Why do you look for negative and high light that?

Why not look at the breadth of his work and draw a conclusion from it?

That's what I am doing. I literally heard a caller on Pulp suggest he was the "grittiest ever" and I just don't think you can say that about a guy who opts out of a whole season because he is sad. Good for him for taking care of himself, but being the grittiest means being in there if at all possible.

So when Jett supposedly cried all the “fans” piled on like no tomorrow but webb gets a pass because he cares😂😂  bit of a double standard around here.

Don't you have some trails to go slowly ride? This is a 2x 450 SX champ you're trying to throw shade at, and the only one making this series even remotely interesting. Multi-millionaire, regarded by his colleagues as one of the toughest competitors in the game...

Coop hasn't even seen Jett in the last 2 races. When has Cooper even ridden like that and when was the last time you saw anyone pull that kind of shit in the premier class.

We keep hearing how much these guys respect each other so I don't see any chickenshit like that happening.

Webb fans have the same faux toughness as webb has when you point out to them the ways in which they do mental gymnastics to convince themselves of his toughness.

It's always the guy with black splooge coming out of the exhaust of his KDX that are the most vocal.

Again, 2x 450 SX champ that guys like MC, RC and JS7 consider to be one of, if not the most mentally strong competitors the premier class has ever seen.

Not much of a Webb fan, but I give credit where due. The guy is racing the best SX guy in the world,Lawrence is in the conversation when discussing the FMOTP in any MX discipline , and Webb is doing that while waiting for his child to drop at any moment. Wheels falling off…..? Not likely.

A concerned Eli fan

But the rider with 4 straight titles (5 with smx) and a perfect outdoor season and current points leader is okay to go after?

Jett is currently on a 5 consecutive title run streak. 6 if you want to include the SMX title.

2021 250 MX Champion

2022 250 SX East Champion

2022 250 MX Champion

2023 250 SX West Champion

2023 450 MX Champion

2023 450 SMX Champion

If he wins the 450 SX title, that will be 6 consecutive titles.

I believe the most consecutive titles ever pulled off is 7 in a row. It was done by RC, and they were all in the 250/450 class.

2000 250/450 MX Champion

2001 250/450 SX Champion

2001 250/450 MX Champion

2002 250/450 SX Champion

2002 250/450 MX Champion

2003 250/450 SX Champion

2003 250/450 MX Champion

I know RC has 10 in a row in MX, but I'm talking back to back seasons starting with Supercross since that's what kicks off the year.

Webb is doing just fine.  By now...he, Eli, Chase, Jason, Justin and ALL the rest know what Jett brings to the gate.  Lawrence is not unbeatable but it's gonna take some luck to do it.  His bad and their good.

Jett isn't the first rider to just be better than the field.  From Jeff Smith to Joel to Roger...Smith...Hannah... McGrath...RC...James...Eli...and now Jett.

Maybe Webb has talked to Windham about learning to play second fiddle.  Gonna happen to all of them eventually.  They just live for those lucky races.Silly

He missed the SX season, then massacred everyone on the 450 Honda in MX before leaving for Suzuki.

I think he fucked his knee up and Chad won the 2004 SX title.
