Roncada too !
Dylan Ferrandis, Hunter Lawrence, Zach Osbourne (technically crossed to mxgp for a couple years)
Amazing that I overlooked some of these guys I should have phrased question better.world mxgp champ and sx champ ( not just contenders) Bayle ,Musquin,Roczen,Langston, all held both titles who else?
Fonseca raced the GPs at one point?
Pichon
only an ass would down vote this
Swore he did a couple rounds but just searched it and I guess he came here straight from Costa Rica…? 🤔
Kinda more impressed with his results now 😂
I think most top North/South Americans start in the US. European and African start in GPs. Asian and Australian seem kinda split.
The thing about America and Americans, is that we accept you as our own if you choose to accept and live by our values. Its natural that you would overlook a Chad Reed or Ken Roczen as a foreigner, for example, because they have embraced America.
MXGP champ with SX title (450 class too): only JMB
MX2 champs with SX title in 250: Langston (450 mx title too), Townley, Pourcel, Musquin, Roczen (2 450 mx titles too)
It is possible to include Pichon too, but he did the opposite way, SX titles then MXGP champ, as well as Donny Schmit.
I think that may be it.
Pit Row
Vuillemin was able to beat Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael in their prime, but never won a SX championship in `Murica.
John Dowd beat David for the 1998 West SX title by a handful of points (at the age of 33).
Fonseca never raced MXGP. And Vuillemin never won a US SX title.
No.
Reed is probably the other closest - 2nd in 250 GP title and 2 x SX titles plus 125 SX title.
Not all those guys got both but they got one and were serious contenders (or at least race winners) in the other.
Expand the criteria to outdoors and add in Vuillemin, Albertyn, Tortelli and maybe some others we’ve forgotten and it makes a mockery of the argument that somehow the GP riders have been less talented over the years.
Probably one race away from adding Vialle to the list.
Would be well deserved.
I raced him at all the Am Nats in 97 in the B class when he was riding for BSY Yamaha and then he began his SX career the next year or the year after.
crème de la crème
