... most of the times now, it's all about the riding. I just grab a handful of gear, toss it in the truck. Decide at the track while gearing up. Who cares, because when I come off the track ... it'll be dirty again or I'll feel like a poser walking-around. But what really motivates me to ride is freshly prepared, prepped and clean bike. Fresh clean, new gear is cool but secondary now on my list. I rather have a new set of tires/ clutch pack/ etc over gear.

What hits home. Is when I hit the track and a vet master/ expert or even some of the members for the old timers are on the track. They're killing it and their gear is not even matching or piece together from the same decade - lol

* Btw who really calls their gear "kit" out loud ? I thought that was the name of a car from Baywatch..
(No offense)
Kit was the name of Michael Knight's (David Hassellhoff) car in the show "Knight Rider".

Hose it off when washing the bike, put them in the washing machine on the delicate cycle with normal detergent, and hang dry. Been working fine for me over the years.

Kit? Just throw it in the wash with your yoga tights.
Thank You Newmann! I wash my "Kit" after I get off my BICYCLE on "Hand wash" and hang dry. When I wash my "GEAR" I spray all the stains with Shout and soak it in cold water, machine wash hang dry.

I can't believe kit is catching on. I guess I'm a grouchy old man that'll never tuck his ears in his hat or call my gear "kit". Oh yeah, my wife washes my gear.

I have my investors do it for me at the car wash that I own. Even though I don't own it, and sit around struggling to make a decision to one predicament all day.

I will add that I use Shout (spray bottle) for my bike, boots, chest protector. I wet it all down and apply Shout. For boots, I use a scrub brush and then rinse with the hose - pressure wash not needed. Shout really is the good stuff for bikes and gear. It doesn't work quite as well as the specialty soaps like VP's product, but it is close and way cheaper per gallon.

The impossible question is how do you get the red stain out of gear/plastic/aluminum from the red dirt in Oklahoma?

Wear dark colors or expect to have some stained up gear.

Yeah I talked to a guy from Thor once and he said that's the first thing they ask when someone says their pants fell apart. Leather has natural oils which keeps them flexible and the oxi just pulls all that out. It's awesome for cleaning stuff but murder to leather. You might be able to use some plain hand lotion to soften the leather back up. I had used oxi a lot before I found this out and did notice the leather getting stiff as a board after a few washes but it was core gear so full grain leather. They held up but if you have phase or other brands cheaper stuff it doesn't last long.
I use oxiclean and there's nothing wrong with the leather on my pants. I regularly put some grease on it made for leather shoes.

Don't dry your gear, hang to dry. And don't use oxi clean if you have leather on your pants. It dries out the leather so after a few washes it turns to cardboard. If it's really good leather like full grain stuff it's not quite as hard on it but if it's cheaper pants it doesn't take much.

My washer has a steam setting and it works awesome at getting it all clean without being harsh. I also wash my gloves every ride pretty much and toss the goggles in on a gentle cycle with other clothes. My gloves last forever doing this and the goggles stay nice and fresh. Pop out the lens of course.

Boots I wash with the bike and I spray them off with the pressure washer, then spray with whatever bike wash soap I'm using, then rinse. My pressure washer is a cheap electric one so it's not killing them with 100,000,000 psi or anything.
^^This is exactly what I do, minus the pressure washer unless mud motos, and its been working perfectly for 25+ yrs

Hands down the best way I’ve found to keep my great clean is I bring a 5 gal bucket with a twist top lid. I put a snap amount of laundry detergent and a few drops of dawn dish soap. After I get the bikes up I ‘tis my riding pants, jersey, gloves, etc right in the bucket. It disks in the way home. I rinse them off with a hose on the driveway when cleaning the bikes. Boots and chesty get washed when doing the bike. I always hang dry my riding gear. It works great for me

Throw it on the laundry room floor, find it clean and folded iny gear bag next time I go riding. Boots get cleaned when I wash the bike.

I soak with water, spray with simple green, and pressure wash carefully with my 2100 psi electric ryobi. Then I spray any stubborn spots with Shout before throwing in the wash. I’ve had a couple of white gear sets for over a year now and they still look brand new.

I usually send my stuff a guy who lives over here (England). He does a particularly good job of my boots 😂.

Lets not forget this Gem....the dude in the UK has a nose like a Bloodhound...a few minutes sniffing n snorting the vicious odors of sweaty boots n gear determines how much washing detergent he will use....all for free of course.

Inside out, cold, gentle cycle with tide detergent, hang dry.

For gloves and googles, put a bunch (3-4 pairs gloves and a couple goggles) into a fabric helmet bag and cinch it shut, then throw that bag in with the gear. Take the lens out of the goggles and tighten the strap as short as it will go.
