After it’s warmed up and putting in laps. No it’s strictly ticking like the last gen motor just a little more noticeable I guess.
I removed the grommet on my fmf becuase of the angle it was at
Doesn't sound like detonation then
Mine sounded like a small block chevy running on diesel fuel when I run straight pump gas. I would try a little better fuel so you could rule out detonation. If it still makes the same noise then you're good.

Rode mine yesterday for the first time.. it definitely has more valve train noise at idle then previous generation.. definitely not detonation
I only Use T4 in my 24.
Well damn, we can definitely rule out detonation.
I rode my 22 for 15 hours not knowing it was detonation, and this happened
Has anyone played with different triple clamp offset? I have my eyes on some X-Trigs eventually
Man, I don’t know. This is the best handling KX450 I’ve ever had. I’d be afraid of spending a bunch of money to screw up a good thing!
I mix one gallon of VP110 octane (there’s a gas station near me that sells it from the pump) with 2 gallons of 93 pump gas to provide cheap insurance to prevent this.
I have 2 sets of x trigs for my 23's. I have not started riding my 24 yet as I have some gnarly races the next few weeks. 29 palms this weekend looks to be a rock quarry so i'm sticking to my 23's for this month. I will keep you posted when i test out the x trigs. I am going to start with the stock clamps for a bit before I bolt on the trigs.. I do believe x trigs are same off set as stock clamps, 23 mm. unless the 24 changed the offset but I do not believe they did. Although they did change the rake.
First ride on mine today. And with a 51 tooth rear sprocket, removed plug in the airbox, twin air filter and screens removed from the muffler its definetly not any slower than my previous 2020.
I could lug in 3rd without any problems on a deep rutted sand track ( typical euro track )
I had a set of ride engineering 21.5 clamps from my 22 I put on the 24. it was almost unrideable. Lost a lot stability and over steered really bad on corner entry. Really made me appreciate how good the new chassis is going back the the stock clamps.
Got this today from a friend in Europe. He has 4 or 5 of the 2024 KX 450's.
Apparently this happened the first ever break in ride on one of his freshies, 20 mins in the sand at Dutch Masters this past weekend. Same thing happened to mine back in January after 8 hours...
20 minutes in deep sand to break in a motor just sounds like a poop recipe.
Opportunity for an aftermarket "TUFF" gear...
What's crazy to me is how close that idler gear is from the balancer drive gear. Brent, did your gear have any indicators of collision or binding?
If the oil pump locks or has a spike in resistance, something is going to give. Not familiar with 4T oil pumps but hydraulics 101 tells you when flow stops and the prime mover (motor) doesn't, bad things happen.
Pit Row
So, for the people having the gear problem, has kawasaki stood behind it, and repaired them? I'm kinda thinking about one of these later in the year.
12 hours on mine and so far zero issues.
No indication on either bike before the gear disintegrated.
my bike had 8 hours and two oil changes using the recommended maxima synthetic oil, and the motor had not been opened yet.
second failure happened in holland during first free practice at Dutch Masters, new bike out of the crate no time on the motor until it was started at the track. Oil in both bikes came out gold color…
From what I was told there are more 2024 bikes having this issue, so far Kawi is aware of the issue but no recall or offer to pay for repairs as of yet from them.
My dealer is saying that price is impossible.. at cost, minus kawi rebate and miltary rebate, plus fees and tax. I'm at $9600 and change. Are you able to break down your OTD cost?
Oh it’s definitely possible.. have the bill of sale for it and the title
Yeah I just got one for about the same a few weeks ago too. Def possible
I got quotes for 9k otd tax included
I got mine in February for just under 9300 OTD and got a $500 reward card basically making it 8800 OTD
Not interested in titles. I'd be interested in seeing the cost break down. Maybe they charge more here in fees than other states. If you're not comfortable with sharing the details, no worries. Ultimately i gotta work out my own deal. Appreciate the info though.
Oh its definitely possible.. only paid $7998 plus $546.55 tax and $99 doc fee.. purchased 3/23/24
Got my first ride with Ti6 exhaust today. For anyone wanting to save a few bucks and doesn't mind the look of the stock exhaust removing the baffle and screens gets you 80% of what the full PC does. Definitely a little disappointed there wasn't a bigger difference. Also it's a subjective thing but to me the PC pipe sounds like shit, especially high in the revs.
Just installed the graphics last night.. plus it has air box mod with full PC T6 exhaust with Chaz remap done through Kawi Rideology app.. otherwise she’s ready to rip
