This will be worse than Reed/Stewart at Atlanta in 2011.
Gonna need to see more angles on that one... at first glance, looked like a racing incident, but definitely with some poor judgement from the 51.
Perfect storm, he’s clearly on the brakes pretty hard in that picture

Where was Justin thinking he could turn? As usual (imo) he came in too hot : (
Just like when Dungey retired Stewart.
Poor judgement from both. Cutting down early like that on opening laps is risky
I’m thinking how the hell could Bam even turn with the line he was on.
Jett turned down a little early but nothing crazy, Barcia was going Mach 5 aimed for the exit of the corner, probably still would have been a rough block pass if Jett went all the way outside
Rookie mistake...
Honestly Barcia really didn't mean to. Even afterwards he was really mad at himself he caused it. Just unfortunate incident of Jett cutting down. Barcia did have a terrible angle coming into that corner
Not the smartest line by Barcia, but turning down on lap 1 of a main isn’t ideal either.
yeah reminded me of dungey clippin stew....same angle same speed. i believe stew and in this case lawrence are gambling by turning that far down that early in race
Perfect storm. This is 100% on Barcia, but Barcia was blocking the same move from fuckin’ Freise who was coming in even harder to the inside then Barcia was at that moment.
Can’t say Jett never took a good lick from Barcia now lol
What you can't see in that picture is Friese inside of Justin. Justin was blocking the inside line but definitely bad judgement from both Jett and Justin. Shit happens though, don't need to play the blame game
Jett is lucky he didn't get hit on his leg. At the speed at which Barcia came in, the force would have certainly injured him.
Blame pie 85% Barcia, 15% Jett. Turning down in traffic is always a risk, but Barcia was about to cut across the entire exit of the turn. When you're perpendicular to the track flow and a collision occurs, pretty good indicator it's on you.
Like someone else said Barcia was coming in tight to not allow Friese to blow his doors off. Jett just happened to turn down about as soon as humanly possible in a bowl turn to get under Hunter who was already turning down. Freak accident and Barcia clearly didn’t mean it
Pit Row
JT kind of said it on the show, the speed along with the angle just didn't really add up to a reasonable attempt to make something happen there. The speed he ran into Jett was unreal...
I like JB, but Im not sure what his plan was there. Jett at least seemed to fair better than Malcolm the last time JB ran into the side of someone. ( we hope )
The angle was questionable but in the replay Barcias wheel was completely off the ground for 20 feet he must of cased the last landing coming into the corner.
He wasn't trying to pass Jett
Lot of good points here, glad to see some fans have realistic insight into what happened, there’s a lot of variables in play here and shouldn’t all be thrown at Barcia because of his checkered past,
personally, I wouldn’t put him in Frieses class, but that’s just me
In person… why do these fucking racers dive bomb insides on the first lap?… they know everybody in the top 10 turn down almost every got damn corner for the first 2 laps. Before they settle in… that t-bone was highly irritating and ver reminiscent of dungeys bonehead move on james.
Fool, there was nothing to case, so this must he a joke
Jett will think twice about cutting down like that on the first lap. Barcia is wrong but Jett should have known better.
He cased the flat ground on the straight ?
I remember a certain defense being used when both Friese and Deegan cut over on the start and caused a pile up… “If you’re in front, you control the race line.”
Now it’s “he shouldn’t cut down that early in the corner.” I think I would feel differently about that situation if it wasn’t a repeat offender. There's an old saying in Tennessee… I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, 'Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me… you can't get fooled again!
The replays do Barcia no favors, so I’m gonna say 95% Barcia and 5% Jett.
I don't think he was either, just making the turn there without using up the entire apex of that corner was going to be tough for him at that speed and angle.
Relax guys sorry I’ve had some beers tonight and thought there was something to case before that. His back wheel was off the ground but probably just being on the front brake so hard. Please forgive me vital
Bad situation but I think we can trace that one back to Vince friese
Post a reply to: Barcia/Lawrence what really happened.
