I used one when I first started riding in 2004ish-2006ish. When I went without one I couldn’t tell a difference. Haven’t worn one since then.
My dad wore one from the day he started riding to the day he stopped so 2004ish-2014ish.
I'm not even sure if Kidney belts are even made amymore? Was kind of old school.
I think they are from the era where riders sat down more?
My pants dont fit if I dont wear it.
Im not sure what it does though.

HRP makes 2 different models. I like them both but the bio foam model is Awesome. For back support ,Protection from foot peg, etc sounds odd but it keeps you in a perfect riding position. Yet you can move easily even curl your stomach in. Strap that baby on & you feel Like going Faster rt now. They come in many colors . I like the blue color, so sharp. I,ll ride without chest protection b4 I ride without a kidney belt. Just left the dr I hv bronchitis & a batch of pneumonia in 1 lung. I had influenza A 3 weeks ago. After 4 days I felt better, no body aces, but never really felt better.
They are still made. I rock an A-stars. I’ve always worn them, but I have ridden without them a few times.
I feel like I have more core strength when I ride with one verses without. It could be a placebo effect, but I also don’t seem to have as much lower back soreness afterwards when I use a belt.
I still see a lot of long range off-road riders wearing them in Baja. When my back injury flares up I wear a Leatt.
33 and wear a Kevco Stubbs. Pretty much won't ride without it. Been wearing one since I was on 60's.
I wear one for the back support, old guy here with a bad back.
We all wore them back in the 80s now I only wear it if my back hurts too much
I wore one as a kid after popping a kidney. Then one day i went over the bars and my kidney belt slid down and took the skin off my entire right ass cheek. Spent weeks with a weepy sore that got stuck to everything. I stopped wearing one after that
My Dad made me wear one as a kid in the 90's - 2001. I forgot it at home once and felt weird the whole day without it, almost like I could feel my insides moving around when jumping or slamming into turns. I was so used to it and didn't seem to hinder my riding at all. I had a full chest protector too, Thor. I tried the under shirt pad thing and hated it. Again it didn't hurt my riding at all.
After not riding with one since the late nineties I found my old AXO kidney belt and tried riding with it last year. I made it 2 laps and had to go back to the truck and take it off… it was just weird. 😂
Kidney Belts faded out in the early 90’s when suspension got better. I haven't worn one since ‘94. I can see wearing one if you’re racing/ riding Baja, but not for motocross. With the exception of a guy here and there, I haven’t seen anyone wear one in at least 25 years.
I wear an alpinestars one so my butt crack doesn’t show.
I actually started wearing one again about a month ago. My dad had me wearing one when I was a kid in the 90s and 2000s. He always wore one too.
He bought me, my brother, sister and himself new kevco stubbs around 2005 and I still have it. I rode and raced without it from about 2012 on. I've had a couple back injuries, and my lower back started really bugging me a couple months ago, just when riding. I had to call a ride off right after it started because my lower back was in so much pain recently. I dug out the old Kevco and have been riding with it recently and am back on the Kidney Belt train for now.
If I drive an hr to the track and realize I forgot my kidney belt I go straight home. Im 55 .
Pit Row
Never wore one. My buddy gave me one this year and I figured why not try it. I couldn’t believe the difference it made for the better on my lower back. To be fair this is for desert racing at 31 years old. I don’t think it would be as much of a help riding moto.
Can’t ride without ,and since 2-3years ago i see some friends started wearing it but in snowmobile! Guys who’s used to ride in back country with me!
Get some core strength- much better results
Old guy here that's not in shape (well, a circle is a shape actually), It's part of my gear just like boots and a helmet.
I remember many of us in the mid to late 70’s wearing them. My age is showing lol.
Same
I had the Gold Belt first, I wore them for many years, but I ended up with an AXO model in the early 90’s.
