for someone saying it may have been a snarky comment I guess you don’t drive much. There is road rage constantly and it mostly involved no words being exchanged. I’m going more with the moto inspired driving. I know when I was younger I drove like I was in an Arenacross.

heal up quick …I’ve been a huge fan of him and love his family. Good people

I speculated "hilarious and snarky" because that's what Denny is like. I wouldn't for one minute want to change that because he's a priceless comedic jewel in our little moto universe. I didn't mean to imply that he deserved it. Just because some sloped-forehead jerk takes offense to the way he drives doesn't justify attempted murder.

Get well soon, Denny.

Way back in the day, ( 1983-1985 ) I used to race district 22 with the likes of Chad Petersen and Denny Stephenson. Stephenson was so fast at a track in Atlantic, IA & smoked us all. Met him once at a SX at the old Irving, TX stadium years later too. Heal up Denny.

Yeah I misunderstood. I agree with you on the hilarious/snarky part. He’s a funny guy.

 Have a good day 👍

i think racers are prone to road rage. i know Ping has talked about it. i sure have it. dude probably tangled with a jabroni in an Altima and i probably wouldn't blame him for it.

its turning into zombieland out there yall be careful

There's research showing the similarities between road rage and how people behave online on platforms like X. Basically, being behind the wheel and inside a car, and in the other being behind a keyboard anonymously, causes a dangerous depersonalization in which the humanity of the other person is not recognized.  However, it takes another level of anger to carry this on once outside of the car and once confronted by another person. In regards Ping, I can imagine he would be prone to road rage if his weird relationship to the internet is anything to go by.

First, I am hoping Denny makes a quick and complete recovery. Next, in no way do I presume to know how this incident unfolded, but it reminds me of when my Dad told me that there was always somebody tougher and crazier than you, no matter who you are. Best of luck Denny !

Heal up DBO….just a FYI during my CC class found out just because someone threatens you and on your property doesn’t get you a “get out of jail free” card, so do what you feel is necessary but don’t be surprised if you are in for a long legal fight…

Certainly valid points.

In my state (WA), there’s no separate law for killing in self-defense. It’s an affirmative defense (ie, “I did it” but with a lawful justification) within the homicide statutes.

The net result is that you will be handled like any other murder suspect unless/until the investigation provides ample evidence that the affirmative defense of “self-defense” was present. You will be interrogated. You may be booked into jail. You may even have to go to trial, particularly in this day and age of activist prosecutors, many of whom do not like 2A.

You will almost certainly be sued, particularly if the suspect’s family smells $$$.

If you get in a shooting while defending yourself/family, remember the words “I’d like an attorney present before any questioning.” Use those words at the earliest opportunity.

As bad as all this is, it’s better than being dead. Just be ready for it.

Knew a guy in Ft. Lauderdale that was a road rager.  Didn't see him for about a year and shows up at the RC track with one eye.  Found out he was raging with some kid on 95 they both got out and the kid threw a padlock at him and took his eye out and left him on the side of the road.  Never know whats going to happen.

I was behind a VW Passat and they were going like 20 in a 55.  When i went to pass, the car accelerated alongside me so i couldnt pass.  There was an oncoming car i had to slam on my brakes and get behind the car. When we got alongside the car finally the driver was laughing and flipping me off.  I flashed him my walther ppk and started to laugh myself.  Didnt point it at him just showed it to him.  Dude took off fast and i followed for a bit and then I realized how stupid that was and just went home.

You need to be very careful with that bro. I sat on the jury of a murder trial here in Texas where a guy used a firearm to defend his property, which younwouldve thought was cut and dry. The circumstances that determine the legal right to use a firearm get very specific very quickly. And they change as the situation changes.

And ultimately your destiny will sit in the hands of an ambitious district attorney who, even in Texas is 6 times out of 10 antigun liberal along with what a jury deems as "reasonable beliefs" and reasinable actions.

100% Lol. The loop & all big rds off it r shutdown. When a meat wagon has to load a body up. Because they run the paramedics or the injured on a gurney over. Yeah there that bad in ATL.  Crazier than Chicago where a rival gang member chases another rival gang member girlfriend & kids shooting at them flying threw traffic on 294. Hitting numerous cars with lead & there car.

That’s crazy to end up in the hospital having surgery from a road rage idiot. But I believe it by seeing usually a suv or pu running people off the road or doing a suicidal monuvers. They try running trks with 46 k + of hazmat off the rd.  Heal up fast Denny.

Not too surprised since cops are scared to pull anyone over anymore. Asshole drivers have went up 1000% in the last 4 years!

Denny is cool in my book.  I remember  going to AX races and seeing  him.  I hope he recovers 100%.

I pulled a Moran maneuver about 10 yrs ago.  Dude wasn't  driving  right, so I flipped him off instead of just ignoring  it and going on with my day.  I got off at my exit and he followed.  He pulled up next to me.  I rolled down the window  and just shrugged my shoulders.   He shook his head and drove off.  It could have  been  much worse.  My physical  appearance may have saved me.  I just chill and drive on now.  I'm too old for that nonsense.
