Just wondering if MXGP World champion Jorge Prado yearns to give up the GP's and come over and start racing Supercross in America after getting a taste of AMA Supercross, because he seemed pretty excited about it, remarkably talented and still young, so if there's one dirtbike title everyone wishes they had more than any other, which one is it.

Depends who you ask. For most people and the average Jo on the outside looking in, it would be the SX title.
I voted AMA 450 MX.
SX and MX are different so it's hard to rank. For MX, I'd go MXGP over AMA for sure. AMA SX is obviously the most prestigious SX title. To the lay person or casual fan, it's probably SX. I'd say most hardcore fans would say SX, but some might say MXGP. I voted MXGP
Well lets see. The reigning MXGP and MX2 champions are coming to race in the US. Name the last AMA rider that won his first 250 or 450 championship then left for Europe.

No. SMX is 3 races, it's not a true championship
It's lucrative but I don't think smx is in the conversation yet . Only its second year and 3 rounds .
This is also my thinking.
SX is a "made for TV" event and is far removed from the riding experiences of 99%+ who ride dirt bikes. To me, it's the ballet version of MX - technical and choreographed.
Outdoor MX (though heavily influenced by SX tracks nowadays) is more of the grass roots "man and machine against nature" test, especially if they went back to 45 min motos. More of a barroom brawl.
The manufacturers emphasize SX because of the TV marketing/exposure and advertising dollars that go with it, but I wonder how many of the bikes they sell ever see a true SX track. I know none of mine do!
^ Agree 100%, money and yellow numbers are nice I'm sure, but it's not really a prestige thing.

No. SMX is a bit of a gimmick.
It's supposed to be held over over 17 SX, 11 MX rounds, and 3 SMX races.
Jett raced no 450 SX in 2023, went perfect in 450 MX which ranked him high enough to give him a shot at the 450 SMX title which he eventually won.
They promote SMX as the best guy across both SX and MX, yet the inaugural 450 SMX champion didn't race a single 450 SX race.

I love some of the guys on the circuit and the tracks themselves (miss you , Namur), but for me maybe the problem is the Luongo slime that seems to be attached to it along with the "pay-to-play" system. Growing up, MX was a blue collar activity that almost anyone could afford, not only the F1 crowd.

Yea, not sure who really considers this a championship. Especially with the how the points are you just had to do well at the last round like we saw with Deegan. Fun to watch, but I don't even really consider a championship, its just an extended Monster Cup.

If you listen to Instragram fanboys it's THE title to win. I'm happy the riders are making some more money but with the screwed up point system it will never be a real title to me. Jett was the champ and he didn't even race 450 sx for Christ's sake
Exactly it was fun and entertaining to watch, but lets just just leave it at that, a fun and crazy 3 race play off at the end of the season, where everyone can make some good money.
Depends on what you mean by prestigious. Solely on the title alone, I think MXGP World Champion would have the most "prestige". But the best title to win for a career (and financially) is definitely 450 Supercross.
Basically, prestige doesn't pay the bills. Plus the lifestyle of travelling only a couple of timezones, racing less of the year for a championship and more consistent culture and food is probably a lot more alluring to riders than what they have to put up with to compete in MXGP.

On paper, I'd have to say MXGP.
It's 20 rounds with 2 motos each and 20 qualifying races that also pay points. That means you'll have to be on your game for 60 points-paying motos. Not to mention all the different types of terrain.
But, with the state this sport is in and how most fans and industry view it, 450SX will probably always be viewed as the most prestigious. Just for the sake of popularity and attention alone. But then again, 17 rounds of SX is not an easy task to get through...
I think in any sport, when you physically cross borders & win in competitors home lands, hear your nation anthem blast far away from home, that will always bring with it the maximum prestige.

ima waffle a bit but me personally AMA MX & MXGP split 50 / 50 , the way these athletes put their bodies on the line grinding out , methodically dissecting & racing on beat up rutted tracks for 35+ mins in the summer heat is more impressive than winning in SX
If you’re just talking popularity, viewer numbers, money etc, then obviously 450SX is the most prestigious. If you add in history and how difficult it is to win, then I think MXGP is at least in the conversation
