You are ragging on a 35 year old man who loves racing and is out on the track 52 weeks out of the year?

So are these guys just supposed to give up racing forever once they quit racing Pro?

Dude was obviously well within the rules.

OP and anyone who doesn't like this clearly grew up in the "everyone gets a trophy" era.  Hopefully ya'll can find safe spaces to cry your little eyes out.

Vital, a place where people who never accomplished jack on a dirt bike can insult a guy who was a top-level pro and one of the most accomplished amateur racers ever. Fucking bizarre man.

Gotta love how clueless and arrogant boomers are.

First of all, I don't think I classify as a boomer... so you sound pretty fucking clueless making that assumption.

Second, what am I clueless about?

Third, how am I arrogant?  Just because I'm not a little bitch that cries over someone racing a class they are legal to race?

That's like me.  Except I suck at it.  But I love doing it.

With all the down votes, it's easy to see who most think is clueless!

Mikey raced the 2-Stoke class at the Arenacross on Friday too.  Love his spirit.

That's all that really matters, anyway. Because if you aren't riding for the pleasure of it, then why are you doing it?

Born in 1959 -

Clueless? sometimes  - Arrogant? You bet, as often as it suits me. -  Disrespectful?  Never.

So, we have 2 things in common.

Racing 25+ at 35 is fair enough generally...

But the Junior bit confuses me a little.

Junior is like C group in the UK, I guess that's different in the US? I'm not keen on sandbagging.

If he meets the rules/regs and he wants to go racing, fair play to him, but I can see why people wouldn't be stoked on someone so damn fast racing a C class / true Junior class  👍

I think a lot of you are proving OPs point without realizing it. An ex pro who basically still races every weekend for a living is racing against construction workers etc who get out on the weekends if they’re lucky. He’s not breaking any rules but it’s lame. Not his fault, where’s the pro vet class?

yea, people race for fun but to think you can only have a competitive attitude if you’re pro is a poor excuse. People still want to get out and battle with guys for a win or podium on an amateur level. There’s riding and there’s racing. Racing against ex pros who still race full time might ruin the fun for some who just want to get out and race similar people.

Yeah, you mean the fastest "age group class"?  What should he have raced?

I was walking through the pits with my son after his first ever moto at Lorettas in 2022 , he was only 9 at the time.

It was hot and the day was winding down , and Mike Alessi was walking through the pits in the opposite direction. He saw my kid , long hair , shirt off, sweaty , roost all over his face after his moto , mike pretty much the same but holding his baby,

He just smiled at my kid and gave him a fist bump on the way by. My son never even knew who he was.

One of our best moto memories ever.

Guys down for motocross.

Gotta love how clueless and arrogant boomers are.

The irony in some vet riders (some, not all) saying “kids these days are soft” and calling kids the “participation trophy generation” while simultaneously bashing pros for racing their age classes is hilarious to me. I’ve never met an 85 rider who said there needed to be an 85 9-11 novice class at the ranch so they could have their time to shine, but I’ve heard that exact expression from a friend of mine about +40.

Junior is referring to 25+ age class as some clubs do.   It's Junior Vet, not full 30 year old Vet class. Pretty sure it's 25+ Pro class also.  He's not racing Novice 25+ 😂

The "boomer" insult is so lame and played out (just like "rent free in your head").....Same goes for the "old man" insults.     They're used when you don't have a leg to stand on and have lost the debate.

Said it before.   What puts a smile on "old guys" faces is knowing everyone gets old eventually.  Wink        If you're fortunate enough, you have the means and body/health that allows you to keep riding.

Good on Mike Alessi.     Keep on riding/racing dude. Cool       Been a tough year for that family.
