I talked to a team manager who said they were worried about the build out of the track. Not sure they could do it just like Oakland last year.

There was also talk about cancelling the GNCC this coming week or just staying in Florida at the same venue. Supposedly it was too muddy as of Sunday to even get vehicles into the Georgia property.

A team manager from Star?

y'know someone says Biblical like...everytime this subject comes up, and not to complain but, we get it - there's like a small joke in there saying "Biblical" to emphasize that the OP is over reacting. here's the problem - the rain has jacked up some races significantly this year, so no, no one was over reacting, and second, it's an overused tripe with no originality. We get the joke, but let's get creative or stay home. we don't need to see "Biblical" on EVERY RAIN POST.

You have now just incentivized everyone to continue making the joke.

My kind of people.  It is literally why I moved to the south and away from the PNW.  Label 'em how you want, but you will not find nicer people, the kind that look you in the eye and say hello to strangers all day long, will drop what they are doing to help you, and still have traditional American values.  One trip to the south and you will get it, kindness does still exist somewhere in the world.  LOL.

Hopefully the weather stays true, I have been watching this for days as I have no desire to drive 5 hours to sit in the rain.  As of the past several days, Friday night they better cover the track, but by Saturday night, we should be good Cool

A team not quite as well funded as Star. Borderline top 10 team.

Yeah, I spent a summer in Texas and the people were very hospitable and genuine. Generally, people in Oregon are nice too but they don't want to be your friend.

Very true statements for both states.  I'd clarify that for Oregonians on the western side of the mountain range are the ones that are nice enough but don't want to be your friend.  Those on the eastern side are a lot more likely to become your good friend.  JMHO

I was really hoping ATL was going to be a SMX round this season. With that said, BHM has potential to be a great race if the weather cooperates. For any of y’all coming down, highly recommend visiting Barber Motorsports Park. It’s the largest motorcycle museum on the planet and has a kick ass road course as well. If you have some additional money to spend, rent a Porsche and turn it loose.

It's currently showing only light rain on Saturday before noon and nothing after that.  The problem is between now and then, they are expecting something like 2", mostly on Friday.  It could be fine...  It could be like San Diego, might be like Daytona.  Can't see it being like San Fran.

Isn't this just so much fun????

Of course Oregonians don't want to be your friend. They're afraid you'll become a squatter in their house, and they'll never get rid of you. In Texas, no such fear, they'll just shoot you to get rid of the problem.

You forgot to mention that the local govt will also require you to bring said squatter a housewarming gift to welcome them to the neighborhood. Smile

Im so sick of mud.

I asked Ricky if Daytona's dirt came from a different place this year and he assured it came from the same place. I assume the rains that pushed the 500 back a day had more to do with such a soft Daytona even before it rained Friday night.

I hope there are no more mud supercrosses because its relatively boring watching guys just trying to survive. Im sure its wrecking budgets too. Even more so for the privateers.

For things to do I guess it's true. I live on bama side of ga/Al line and Atlanta is half the distance for me (45 minutes from monster btw). I rarely go to bham for anything. I'd much rather be going to Atlanta but it is what it is.

Currently though, moto is better in Bama for personal riding. Sure miss Millcreek though!!

Daytona had record high fan turn out this year and even though some of qualifying was canceled... That was in no way a mudder. If 250 riders are quading a rhythm section, you can't claim it was a mudder. We've had 2 mudders in 9 races, not that out of the ordinary in my opinion considering we're racing in the dead of winter in open stadiums.

I dislike a muddy SX just as much as the next guy but I have zero complaints with this season so far. This is a Daytona mudder:

If you go 20 minutes + 1 lap and you look like this after, it wasn't muddy... His white gear is still white!

Really blows for us in sc area. Atlanta pulled from many different states. As I mentioned Jacksonville, I’m sure it would do the same. And we would get one more football stadium.

They pulled from even further south than Jacksonville. When I worked in the industry, I couldn't really attend the Daytona SX because it was the busiest time of year so I would go to the Atlanta round.

*Note: I would still go to the Daytona round but most times I would get there after the night show already started and could never cruise the pits or watch qualifying.

Stewart said in his podcast that Dirt works built the track this year and the track is usually built a week earlier. His theory was that might have given the dirt less time to harden up.

latest update, the storm is moving closer to Saturday.  The hard rain is Friday night, over an inch and Saturday morning, over 1/2".  They will have from about 10am on to get the track ready.  Practice and Qualy might be effected.  Seems like it's going to be similar to San Diego based on my uneducated guess.
