My wild guess: Tomac does only SX this year knowing he's not winning the championship, he skips the MX season to rest up all summer, and then we get at least more one serious SX season next year.

This is a more likely scenario, to me, than him finishing sx and jumping right into the grind of mx.

Don't you have a shitter to fix?

Aww sweetie. Keep letting me know I'm in your head. I don't know who the fuck you are

He better hurry up then with only 8 more to go.

*9 more, plus I'd bet he races the SMX rounds.

Some of you guys make me laugh, "if a guy doesn't get first place he should retire". Being a Jett fan and an Eli fan, I'm on top of the world.

Well this week he did get the start, then got passed then got dropped like a bad habit. So what do these people have to say about the 'beast mode'?

Yet Tomac lacks the finess of the best guy out there and needs to learn that if he wants to beat him.

The bar has been raised for how you have to ride if you want to be the best. Both Chase and Jett has a simular style and as long as Chase were fresh in the race and his hand kept up he were gapping Eli.

Eli needs to ride smarter, not harder. It’s clear that he don’t gain anything from riding around on the limiter, raping his clutch and just being overly agressive instead of being smoother.

Disagree. Tomacs' style works for him. The only reason he got 2nd was because he wasn't doing the quad. He was just as fast everywhere else.

If Eli woulda pulled that quad it woulda been a different race imo.  Eli is still very very fast and deserves all the respect in the world!! He will win this year he’s literally 6 points out second place.  I think we will still see some rookie mistakes from Jett this year.  The season is long and it’s not over till the last race!  Even if Eli was down a whole race I wouldn’t bet against him!

Eli and Chase were betting on Jett making a mistake and capitalizing on it.  Frankly giving how gnarly the track was, I was expecting a Jett slip up.  The quad section was potentially disastrous and they both knew it wasn't worth the risk.  Props to Jett for hitting it and not making mistakes.  That was the difference maker in the race.

This. That track was so gnarly. I thought Jett would make a mistake as well.

He got 2nd you retards. That’s a solid finish last time I checked.

For Tomac at Daytona second is acceptable? It's not disrespectful to state the obvious. Jett is going to dominate awhile barring injuries, the people he actually contests with are late in their careers, and other than Sexton, no young riders are close either. It is plain to see.

Had nothing to do with the quad. If Tomac did the quad Jett would have just wicked it up faster.

You guys have to agree that Tomac did say before the race that he was ready to put the smack down on everyone, now that he got his bike right!

Jett did gap him, so…..on to next week!

It works to a certain level. Remove Jett and Sexton from this race and all people would talk about would be how gnarly Eli was at Daytona 2024.

Now he was 12 seconds behind the leader until the last laps.

People thought Mcgraths fitness were fine to until RC raised the bar and started to beat him.

Was there and Eli's bike was smoking for about 3/4 of the race. Looked like it was blue smoke coming out of the exhaust so not sure if he tried to go easier on the bike or not? If he could have passed Chase sooner might have been a different story but that's racing. Was hoping to see win #8.

And if I went faster, I’d be a SX champion. But I can’t, so..🤷‍♀️

Took second with a smoking bike for 15 minutes. Maybe it didn’t impact him. Maybe it did. Coming to the home stretch now. We will see what happens.

This is the best summation of the race. It's not taking away from Jett's win at all - there's just a thing called "nuance" that many people lack. Eli is clearly still fast as shit and is in no way "done" battling for wins.

Chase wasn't hitting that quad either.  9 more races to go. It's anyone's championship.

Tomacs bike had an oil leak and they thought it was the clutch.

so the entire race on the pit board they put “clutch” on it , which obviously made him ride differently the entire race.

in his mind that probably contributed to not doing the quad also.

if he’s on a bike he’s already having to ride gently , he’s probably not gonna risk it thru a rhythm to make up time just to back off in the corners because of the clutch issue.

also explains him not riding total beast mode if he’s riding differently to conserve the clutch.

all because of an oil leak at the top level…

The part that is ridiculous seems to be the same standards do no apply when Jett gets beat.

He said he didn't read the pitboard and neither did he feel the clutch being bad or anything apparently.

That is code for Eli backed it down to save the clutch and it turned out to be the shock. Can't blame the guy really for not wanting to deal with all the backlash from the vitards.

Pretty sure that was shock oil. He would've smelled engine oil roasting in the slow corners if that's what it was. Sure looked like smoke only on rear shock compression, not when he was revving the bike the most. That 1 sketchy rhythm is what won and lost the race. Tomac was faster around the rest of the track, but somehow never got that rhythm correct. I blame the shit track maintenance for that section. Pretty terrible they didn't freshen the section for the Mains. Would've made a lot better racing.

I noticed it smoked when the shock went deep in the stroke. It must has been leaking a small amount to not effect the action.

If it was his shock that failed he would have had no dampening and would have dropped anchor( we know how sensitive he is to shock setup). Leaking valve cover was reported by Matthes.

Most here seem to think a rider that's been off the bike for most of a year throws a leg over and is right back where he left off. It takes time to get back in race shape. Even without an injury, it takes time to get back in race shape.  Aldon said he doesn't have his riders peak too early in the season, they'll burn out if they do. Instantaneous society we have these days.

Matthes is a shill for Star PERIOD. Do you think they would admit to shock issue after the last PR nightmare?

If that was a leaking valve cover gasket that was some leak!
