This would be a lot harder if the question referenced Suzuki (Roger or RC) Honda (Johnson or Stanton) Yamaha (Hannah or Glover) or Kawasaki (Ward or RV) Maico ( Danny! and Danny!) and of course there's many more 🙂

Kailub Russell for sure. I’m far from a moto history guy but he’s got to be the most dominant with 8 consecutive GNCC xc1 titles.

I agree with these. Moises for sure as he was the first rider to win on the world stage for KTM. I didn't get to see him ride but I did see him in 86 at a 250GP in Holland. He was there with an old bus with about 6 or so KTM riders from Russia.

I must say..... (shocking, right?)......  the white KTMs with blue seats and red frames looked so much better than pumpkin orange modern ones.

The mint green seat looked the best.  The orange is gross it reminds me of construction cones or barrels . And a stupid safety vest that Schneider - orange trks makes you wear 24 hrs a day.  Corporate bs that orange is a part of our core values nonsense.  Everyone had to work 4 mega carriers in 08 + or not hv work.  On a positive I did 3 months straight of So Cal. To n. Ca. To s. Ca. To Az. To s. Ca. . Which was easy for winter time.  From the flat in the dessert to the top of Mammoth mtn 90 or 130 mi.  Mammoth mtn at night with all the snow is Awesome lookin.  Wyatt the kid that led all but the very end of the last 125 all star race. Lives 5 min east of Green Bay. Below 0 ovr the weekend. Just because of the weather he has to b included. Last March, May 7 , 8in 30 mi n 20 inches. IMG 6901 1.jpeg?VersionId=ANutwZakrnnS

I think of this bike and some of the local racers who rode them.

How could it be anyone other than Dungey? Started yheir 450 program, won their first supercross race and supercross championship.  He opened the door for them to sell into the US moto market.

Shane Watts. Someone needs to do a long format podcast with that dude. The Wattsy stories are seemingly endless, and all pretty wild.

John Finkeldey, # 611, probably one of the first factory KTM riders. New Englander from Westbrook, CT on the shore. Was active in early to mid '80's. Guy was a monster. Back problems shortened/ended his pro career. His family owned a garbage collecting company. He trained by running behind the truck and tossing garbage cans in the back.

Checked the Vault for ha ha's and found that he finished 9th overall in the AMA Nationals i 1982 and 1983 with a podim 3rd place finish at Broome Tioga and many other top tens and fives. In these days KTM was a whole lot of nothing in the USA.  Even the factory version of that bike was a giant toilet. XC, a different story.

Heinz Kinigadner, 1985 250 world champion.

White Ktm.

Second here for Kinigadner. The early adopters on those old KTMs were some gnarly dudes.

For me another that hasn’t been mentioned is Keith Johnson.  In the US ‘90 was the first year I could really watch SX on TV (a week or two late). KJ looked good in AXO clothes on the KTM.  He would battle to put it in the mains and actually got a lot of TV time in the Semis and LCQs.  Then Fisher the next year was solid in ‘91 with some 4ths.

He'd probably like to forget it.

Carl Cranke. There is some serious Moto history here.

A true D-36 NorCal legend be it MX, Enduros, Speedway. Add to that all the work he did for the Penton brand and US ISDT efforts

Hopefully this video link works - Hannah, Lackey, and others comment...

When I think of KaTooM it is Mike Fisher. 1991 SX series.

For me, it's Mike Alessi during the early Red Bull KTM days. Alpinestars gear, Shark helmets, and Smith goggles.

First race I ever watched was the Glen Helen national when Alessi and Langston were going at it
