He resigned a two year deal, next year is the 2nd.

Well! if Barcia is done, then there are also a lot of Pro riders that have a National numbers that are also done.   Barcia on his worst night would still beat 99.99% of riders in the world that attempt to race a Supercross.

On this particular night there was 51 riders entered in the 450 class not named Barcia. He finished 18th so he beat all but 17 of those 51. You do those percentages and he beat 66% of them. So what if you’re wrong?

I was going  to say this.

Also, he's 32. He's clearly having fun and enjoying it. That's all we can hope for. Too many guys have played the serious role in this sport.

Him being relevant is between him and who pays him. He makes the night show and has a huge fan base

They probably killed a couple of Czechoslovakians, like the Russian Paulie hit over the head with a shovel.

Sorry for the late reply.

I understand the whole team deal situation.

But just on clothing. Tld is the teams main sponsor/owner. Tld also sponsor riders in the past. Like Cole seely, Max vohland. The Yamaha mx2 team etc. Why can't they make 300k of that budget to prado?

On stuff like oakley and alpinestar. They sponsor the team. If prado went to kawi and got that sponsorship those companies would have budget to pay him.

If they want to make it work they can make it work.

That’s so lame.  Let the riders have their own sponsors

It’s the TLD team. Having a different gear deal would be like riding a Yamaha on the Honda team.

I get it, I just think it’s lame to have 25 riders look the EXACT SAME like the Star Racing Yamaha and their Thor deal.

Gear is about the only way to separate yourself other than the number.  Remember how cool it was seeing RC in that bright orange Fox gear on the Kawasaki?  Or James Stewart showing up in PINK!

I was also a big fan of the No Fear era, McGrath and Pastrana had some great looks

Barcia won 450 Phoenix supercross in 2013 eleven years ago.  He’s had a hell of a career.  Still going too.  Still a factory rider.  He’s a warrior.

His factory team and himself no doubt are not aiming to beat just 66% of other riders on the day. Participation trophies next?! Clearly something is a miss, can’t remember the exact rounds but he was right in it multiple times last year.

To a wider subject, there is going to be a serious dent in the 450 class very soon. Tomac, Wilson, Barcia, Anderson, Stewart, Craig are all 30 or older and came up through amateurs at roughly the same time, and Roczen is in this group too. The next generation with AC9, Webb, AP did not produce as many great 450 riders, still have J-Mart, Hampshire, Smith etc in 250s. I also think AC9 is done after this season, he is just over it with his numb arm/hand issues.  So....by 2026 I can see 7 guys exiting the 450 class and man, there is not much depth to come up and replace them. Some of the replacements will be pushing 30 and be rookies (Hampshire, Smith). Guys like Forkner, McAdoo can't stay healthy on a 250 for more than a month at a time, how will they survive 450 SX?

This is why Prado is exciting. World class talent, still young.

Of course age effects athletic performance. But it is being displayed again and again 40 is the new 30. In pro sports throughout all disciplines athlete's prime performance years seem to be getting older. I don't know why, modern training, diet, medicine, but it is undeniable. We will never see 45-year-old Olympic gymnasts, but 30 something motocross champs and 40 something super bowl quarter backs are a very real possibility. This was unheard of 15-20 years ago even.

People are extending careers for sure, but there's nothing to suggest that the peak still isn't at roughly the same age. The younger guys also get to take advantage of the same advances.

I'm wondering if the guy who was critical of JT's haircut is gonna discuss Justin's hairstyle and the fitting of his pants 🤔

The one thing I hate about moto is that if you’re not winning, or at least on the podium, you’re “done” and suck.

Most motorized sports are like that!
