@Village I see you're well read.  I'm gonna order it although it tugs at me heart seeing my baby on the cover 😢

Pulp MX did a podcast with him. It was a helluva good listen. Don Richardson is a genius.

It’s a decent book but, for myself became tough completing about 3/4 of the way through it. That’s not to say it wasn’t worth reading. Suzuki put the author through hell. I won’t go into detail but, they definitely screwed him. image 83.jpg?VersionId=z.wdP6WIn6Ove

I went from a 1980 RM125 with Ohlins shocks to the ‘81. It was unbelievable. I don’t think there has ever been an advancement over one year as great as 80 to 81. I see the name Full Floater showing up, the patent must have expired.

I went from this TM75 to one! Notice the site glass built into the side panel

Does the book explain why the Full Floater works the way it does? Why compressing shock from both sides matters? Thanks! I may have to order either way. By the way, the current BMW M1000RR Superbike has what is called Full Floater Pro rear suspension.

The book doesn't actually explain any of the technical details very well, not many good illustrations/diagrams etc. either

If you want to learn about suspension, don't bother with this book ,the book is mostly the guy telling you his life story, how smart he is , how dumb everyone else is , that sort of thing.

It (moving the shock at both ends) doesn't matter. Bit of a marketing gimmick. The only thing that matters is the specific shape of the link ratio curve. The way it's done on modern bikes is way more compact and lighter weight.

In the pod Don hints that he has an evolved design of the full floater, but no manufacturer has licensed it to this point.

Crazy that Honda didn't patent the original Pro-Link design.   It is basically what every bike today copied.

20/20 hindsight. We’re talking 22 years ago, throw the dog a bone!
