Today’s racing left much to be desired. Almost zero passing, 45 second laps, only action is crash that took out half the 250 class. Guess it was good to see the 30 year show the kid how to open a champagne bottle 🤷♂️. Last weeks racing far superior to this…
Yeah I thought lack of passing. I think track layout. Looks to me they tried to cram to much in the space they had to work with. Turn lay outs didn’t seem easy to pass. Turns either sharp or the one big sweeper.
To many whoops not enough turns my guess.
What difference do lap times make? The race was the same length. This isn’t 2005.
Well Jett won.
So at least there's that.
🤣😂🤣
450 race was good. 250 not so much .

What race did you watch?? There was a ton of passing, it just wasn’t for the lead.
They need to reinvent these two stroke jumps. Very boring.
I agree, it was less than good.
I actually fell asleep during the heats. I hate to admit that but its true.
I felt like the start straight took up so much room. Then it was just a bunch straight rhythms. Kinda expected with football stadiums though. The baseball stadiums are better imo
Agree…nothing better than watching SX live and I enjoyed the early start time but the races were pretty underwhelming… track design?
I felt the same way about the start straight! For some reason this weekend it stuck out how much real estate it took up.
I was thinking… What if they tried something different and ran a start straight that was half that length at one of these football stadiums? Plus, with all the people saying that the first turns are becoming more and more dangerous due to the increasing high speed from adding start devices, launch control and grates, there’s less high-speed funneling into the first turn and a lot more room to extend some other sections to add some time to the laps.
You know it's a bad night when the best races were the LCQs. The track was a joke....but you could tell that even before tonight.
If only someone could have predicted the lap times.
Not every race can be amazing. I do wish all the jumps weren't the same every weekend though. They need to mix it up with moguls, walls, different size rhythms, and the need for legit whoops is real....this 9 whoop limit seems less than ideal.
Yes, there was some passes but most of them were from one rider crusing around and falling backwards.
We did not see much racing for the positions imo.
Half if not all of the series should be triple crowns or 2 moto format like MX. Prove you can get 2 or 3 good starts and be consistently the fastest guy. Kinda tired of the starts being 98% of the race. This isn’t the 90s where training wasn’t down to a scientific formula and 2 strokes meant perfection for Rhythm lanes. These guys get a start now days and it’s over. Make them do it 3 times.
Being the west coast, I did not watch live because the noon start really chops the day up.
My thoughts were that the track was too simple and agree, the start lane took up too much floor space. This race was ballyhooed as being on the Big Bird, AKA the main NBC broadcast and honestly this was a shit race to try to "grow the sport" from a broadcast standpoint. The lapped traffic was absolutely chaotic, the racing was not great from what we were shown, and as usual the actual direction of the broadcast was awful. (Example: let's show Swoll in 9th on the Triumph because we have blow Triumph, but we are going to totally miss the Bennick on Hymas pass and lead up. Which was for podium JFC).
As said by others, they can't all be great.
Pit Row
Agreed. Two moto format would be great. Maybe save the triple crowns for the three SMX rounds so they’re a bit different from the rest.
It's good to have variation. You don't need 'great races' every week, otherwise it gets boring. A balance is good. The odd boring race makes the good ones sweeter.
It was a snooze fest. I fell asleep several times. 🥱
I like triple crowns because nights like tonight before triple crowns I thought run three races and Jett ( or whoever won in the past) would win them all and make them all boring. But we have seen people gap the field in one triple crown race, then come 5th in the next without catching the guy in 4th….
that's what happens when the fastest guys in the two classes get the holeshot
what if they allowed each racer to deduct two races from the series of their choice.
With the 9 whoop limit, can we see a section with 9 whoops, then either a wall or a speed check step up, followed by 9 more whoops?
And, can we get some over under bridges while we’re at it? Was bummed when they removed the one that was on the original A2 track map.
This is the problem with football stadiums. They are small as fuck. We need more baseball stadiums, the extra floor space is essential for creating longer, more creative rhythms and track designs
Huh? I thought football stadiums have always been bigger? Or have modern stadiums reduced floor size?
Every season you will look back and there will have been a “best” race and a “worst” race. I don’t see the big deal in a bad night of racing, and I can’t remember a 17 race series where every single week is an amazing battle to the death.
Huh? Great races every week would make it boring? That’s some craze reasoning!
I felt track was basic but enuff with the lack of passing , if ur tht good & elite u goona find a way regardless, coop had no problem passing thru the pack
